New Z owner from SC. Opinions wanted.
Welcome to the club Brad! Good to see another Z owner in Chucktown! I am from the Charleston area and will be transferring back next summer. What side of town are you on? You car looks really stock... aside from the color change. It really is ones perrogative as to what to do with their Z, but my take is that it's all goo as long as it can be easily converted back to stock. I don't share the same sentiments on wheels as Mark and Nick... I feel that 16's look the best on Z's, especially the panasports! Anyway... wheels, exhaust, suspension and brakes... that oughta cover it. Nate 16's and lowered using Eibach progressive rate springs and Tokico HP struts plus polyurethane bushings ... also, take note of the front plate... SC Flag baby!

How many of us have young children?
We have an 8 month old, Matthew. I'm all for the contest, but it's not very fair to the rest of y'all! Attached are two Z themed... one with a Hot Wheel and one in my '72, One of Matt hamming it up for the camera as usual and one Fall/Halloween themed pic in the pumpkin patch.

Classic Z Car Club licence plate frames?
I too would be in for frames, no less than 2 but more than likely 4. As far as "My Other Car is a Classic Z" being too specific... I think it's too general. I'd prefer a "My Other Car is a 240Z". I received the chrome 240Z frame that MSA sells at Christmas but had to relegate it to front license plate duty for the reason that Arne stated, the 240Z is at the bottom nearly completely covering the licensing state (South Carolina). That being said, it would probably be best to offer them in top or bottom position logos. And since that would already narrow down profit margins then it would be more lucrative to offer only one logo and I think www.ClassicZCars.com is the best bet. Now maybe we should start a thread for stickers too. Vinyl decals would be great for the "My Other Car is a..." and even a www.ClassicZCars.com would be awesome.

Odd shaking at 50 - 80 and sometimes not there . .
I'm with geezer. I had a very similar situation recently with my 72 with poly's and new ball joints. The tires/wheels were balanced twice and the fella that did the work said that they balanced out fine with no problem, but I still had issues. When I put on my "new to me" wheels and tires the problem completely disappeared. Much more enjoyable to drive. So my best guess is that radial seperation is your issue. Good luck. Nate

Spongy Brakes...
Walt couldn't have said it better. Replacing the brake hoses is also a great idea. Over time the fluid permeates the rubber hoses causing them to swell and reduces braking efficiency. You're (we're) dealing with 35+ year old cars, they need a little pampering, and safety is always a good place to spend money. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you still have soft pedal issues after repairing all leaks and hoses, the master cylinder is the next culprit... but given the low fluid issue the problem is most likey elsewhere. What the hell is this???
Call the CDC! It's an epidemic!!! I don't much care for the convertible conversion, but that's purely personal taste. I feel the car was built as a hardtop coupe and it just looks "right" that way. Ztherapy sells a couple "How To" videos on converting the Z into a drop top.

E85 Ethanol
FWIW, I used to have a 2000 Ford Ranger (yeah, haha, whatever). Anyway, it had the 3.0L V6 E85 compatible engine and the one time I tried E85 it ran "funny"... It had a miss at idle and a little hestitation off the line, all that coupled with the ridiculous drop in mpg, I never ran it again. A little search online at the time revealed that this was a common thread amoungst other E85 Ford owners. Now maybe this was just some issue that Ford had with it at the time, but it definetly soured my perception on E85. The other issues I had with that truck turned me away from Ford completely. And here is another thought I have on E85... Are any of the major Jap brands playing with E85? The only one I know of off hand is the Nissan Titan. It just seems like if it was a great idea or technology you would see Toyota playing it up for the Camry or Honda advertising it for the Accord. But then again they pride themselves on mpg. So that would probably be counter productive for them to brag that their cars would run on E85 but get crappy mileage.

MSA "Bullet" mirror installed
Dude... are you frickin' serious?!?!? Fine, you don't like the mirrors on his car. You've stated your point. In fact it takes little more than one post in which to do so. Thank you for choosing to leave your car bone stock, it insures that there will be a few examples for us to turn to when we have questions as to how it was supposed to be nearly 40 years ago before four decades of previous owners and hack job mechanics got ahold of our Z's. But please stop with the mindless drivel about how anything other than how it left the factory in the land of the rising sun is wrong. In Japan/Nippon it was very common for them to indeed have fender mirrors. Along with that many didn't even leave the US dealerships without first having accessories installed, be it A/C, Aluminum/Magnesium Alloy Wheels, Dual Mirrors, Air Dams or Spoilers just to name a few. As far as correcting spelling mistakes goes... "Catsup and catchup are acceptable spellings used interchangably with ketchup, however, ketchup is the way you will find it listed in the majority of cookbooks." courtesy of about.com. Please don't start such silly things as correcting spelling or grammar mistakes. Many of your own posts have mistakes in them as do mine. This site was never intended to be College Level English, just a means to share info about a common thread that bonds us all together. Look at the wide spread member locations of our site... US, Japan, Canada, Australia, UK (Hi Alan!), I saw a member pop up from Ireland not too long ago, South America, Germany, France, the list goes on and on and quite frankly I'm glad to be associated with a single thing that brings so many passionate people from all over the globe together in peace. How to post pictures? Easy enough... In response to a thread- 1) First you must have said pictures digitally stored on your computer or at a digital storage facility elsewhere on line. 2) Choose "Go Advanced" located below the "Quick Reply" typing window. 3) In the "Additional Options" block, choose "Manage Attachments" 4a) If the photo is on your computer click on "Browse" [if not proceed to 4b] and path to the location in which the photo is stored. 4b) If the photo is stored on line select the "Upload File from a URL" text block and type or perform a cut & paste of the URL for the picture in the text block. Photos can also be uploaded to the sites Photo Gallery or even placed in a post as seen in BadDog's original post, but the pocedure above will get you started. You've stated your opinion, you have now crystalized it for all of us, thank you, but please put an end to all the excessive postings that don't deal directly with the original topic... just as this one does not. {Sorry guys} My unsolicited opinion, Nate Mike- If my post has come across in a manner inconsistent with our sites values, please edit or remove as neccessary.

300ZX twin turbo or Chevy 350
I'm jumping on the RB wagon. SBC would easily be the cheaper way to go... but I don't understand trying to stay cheap w/ a Z. As a side note... my 1000th post!!! What? No party hats and noise makers? Nate

MSA "Bullet" mirror installed
Well, I have to admit... I don't care for them. But that's where we get back to the "It's your car" thing. I personally just don't think that the look of the mirror fits the Z. It just goes back to that whole personal choice thing, my choice just happens to be the fender mirrors or the stock mirror. My car currently has the Vitatoni black plastic ones that I also don't care for. I also think that a more forward mounting position would be more astheticly pleasing. This is the USA... but at the same time this is the Internet... hmmm, perplexing... If I was sitting in London this would be the UK, the USA and the WWW. So I guess this is "everywhere". So where we really are at is the Classic Zcar Club. So ol' mckrack said he doesn't like them and they should be removed, well that's his take on it. I really don't see a problem with the original comment. It's not like he said "you're an idiot for putting them on". So whatever. Now some of the later retalitory comments were more heated than they needed to be from both sides... again whatever. Can't we all just get along? So my suggestion to everyone is... If you don't like what someone else types, just let it go. So all that being said... Hey BadDog... We're only like an hour away from each other... we should get together for a beer or something sometime... send me a PM if you're interested.

Color = Ticket?
So the question is does color = ticket? My personal experience is No. I get no more attention from law enforcement in my 918 Orange Z than I do in my Black crew cab long bed Frontier. In fact Silver seems to be the color for me to have been pulled over in the most, my previous vehicle was a Silver Pathfinder and my wife's current car is a Silver Sentra. Two very mundane everyday vehicles... and these two caught more flashing lights than my old Red MR2 and my Orange Z have totaled together. Regardless of what color you choose you should consider adding A/C. This past weekend in Watkins Glen it got up around 95, more than convincing enough for me to decide to redo the A/C in mine! My $.02 Nate
