  1. As palladin already stated power seats were not an option on any of the S130s. Power seats became available in 1984 with the Z31 300ZX.

I had a similar problem with a 84 300ZXT and the replacement part was available from Nissan for a couple of dollars.
  3. I only put around 1000 to 1500 miles a year on my 81 280ZXT which keeps it easily within my insurance limits of 5K a year. It had 69K on it when I bought it in 08 and it now reads 73K. I've had the same insurance coverage for the three years I've had her and the one thing I've noticed is that they only asked for the mileage when I started the insurance in 08. Full coverage with a replacement value of ten thousand dollars for $128 a year. I hated leaving her unattended for any length of time so I found an 83 280ZXT that was in good shape but far from perfect. I use the 83 to run errands and save the 81 for weekend pleasure drives.
  4. I made it to the point where Ryan Templeton referred to the 240Z as "junk" and got so mad that I had to turn it off. I've never really been into muscle cars but I would never refer to a 69 Mustang fastback or a 69 Camaro RS/SS as "junk", as a car guy I can appreciate the form of these cars and their place in automotive history.
  5. It's not just the ride height of our Z's. I do a lot of night driving in a vehicle with a more average ride height and I have noticed over the last few years that there are far more drivers that just simply don't dim their bright lights.
  6. Welcome-great looking car!
  7. I've bought a couple of parts from Roger and although it can be a challenge to get in touch with him, the parts have always been good and the prices fair.
  8. I was once asked at a gas station why I had changed my 280ZX from right hand drive to left hand drive because all of the old Japanese cars were imported and had right hand drive originally.
  9. I run 245/40/18's on the roadster and they were going to be around $850 for a new set. Fortunately I knew a guy at one of the local tire shops and ended up getting the set for just a little over $600.
  10. My first Z was a 79 280ZX that I sold around 1994 with 224K on the clock. I saw it around town for several years after that. I tracked down the guy that I sold it to a few years ago in a fruitless attempt to find out what had happened to it only to find out that he had cracked the head on it and sold it to a salvage yard. During all the years I owned it I replaced one alternator, performed regular maintenance and had no other mechanical problems.

Welcome to the site! Here is a 240Z fairly close to Evansville. http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/2186467204.html
  12. Average high temperature in July is 92 degrees. As for the humidity, well it's humid. I used to live in Beaufort, SC which is about an hour or so north of Savannah and summers are humid, but not unbearably so.
  13. While I would certainly encourage you to pick up a 240, don't give up entirely on the 350 crowd. Unfortunately there are 350 owners who care more about the status symbol of the the latest "must have" four thousand dollars wheels, but there are others that understand the history of the Z and care about keeping the name alive. As far as finding a 240Z goes, take your time and try to evaluate each car as unemotionally as possible. Rust is always the biggest enemy and the most costly problem to remedy, so familiarize yourself with the most common rust areas and watch out for them. Welcome to the site! Take your time and find the right car for you, with your location rust should be one of your primary concerns. Good luck with your search.
  15. Outstanding! Now I just have to figure out how many cars I'm bringing!

Welcome to the site! Where in central Indiana are you? I'm near Bloomington.
  17. Any idea when the online registration will be up? We used to live just north of Savannah and visited there frequently. It is quite the city and we are looking forward to July!

Welcome to the forum! The second gen turbos are making a strong showing over the last couple of days! Here is a link to Xenon's S130 site. You can download the Factory Service Manual for free from his site and that will give you the info and wiring diagrams that you need to trace down the problems. http://www.xenonz31.com/s130/reference.html Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. Vent issues are common on the older Z's. There is not a lot of activity here regarding the second gens but it's picking up. I would recommend a search over at www.zcar.com in the 70-83 tech section. I'm sure this problem has been covered there more than a few times. Good luck with her.

Welcome to the Z world! If you haven't checked out your local Z car club I would recommend it. There is a great club in Columbus and I'm sure their knowledge would help you with any plans for your Z. Here's a link to their site. http://zroc.org/
  21. Here's a link for common rust areas on the 240Z, but given your location you should be able to find a good one without rust issues. http://zhome.com/Classic/CommonZRust/RustPrevention240Z.htm Follow the advice that others have already given here. A well maintained Z will save you a lot of headaches down the road. I bought my 81 280ZXT from the original owner and I have had zero mechanical problems in almost fours years. The car came with detailed receipts and records going back twenty years and you could tell the car had been cared for. My 83 280ZXT has been the opposite story. I rescued it from a kid that had went as far as painting the radiator red and installing multi-colored blinking LED's under the dash. I'm still fixing "repairs" that the PO made. Good luck with the search and when you find the right one remember that posting pics are a must!
  22. You're right, I had forgotten about that. :stupid:
  23. Maybe its being overly critical but the fact that they list the part application for a 74-78 260Z bothers me.
  24. Acquired new floor pans and rails last week in what I am sure will be the first of many purchases before she sees the street again. Thanks again Carl for the parts!
  25. They are.
