  1. Yes, I have spent hours in that Bass Pro Shop while trapped in Manteca... Loved it.
  2. Manteca isn't very big... It has two hospitals but one was surrounded by corn fields as little as 5 years ago. Two big streets Main and Yosemite. Highway 99 to the East, 5 to the West... Car dealers are on the East side of town...
  3. Mally, Are you over on 914World too? My 914 below...
  4. Unburned fuel. Leaky injectors or EGR.
  5. While many of the suggestions are things you 'should do' I have found the Datsun Z to be so hardy and willing that all you 'have to do' is hook up jumper cables, turn the key and wait until she barks to life... Done it a few times. Don't try this with a Porsche. That is another story though...
  6. See you Saturday for the March Sacramento Z Car Reunion... Just two days to get 'em shined and tuned!
  7. Just a couple days left to plan your appearance at the March Sacramento Z Car Reunion! Hope to see you there!
  8. I will give you a definate yes from the organizer... He is a Lambo fan. Oh, and he is me

  10. Not so fast! Did you adjust the valves first?
  11. Come on out and get your donut on! Next Saturday, the 12th of March... The March Sacramento Z Car Reunion is ON!!!
  12. No carbs on the 280Z so those were from an earlier car. Bruce Palmer is our resident expert on carbs. Basically, they were round top or flat top, and had different numbers of screws in the tops. Most would say you don't want the flat tops. They are easy to identify. They have flat tops! Blue is the stock block color...
  13. Welcome... N42 heads were found on '75-'76 280Z 2.8 engines. It would not be unusual to see one migrate to an earlier car. Not much in the way of smog stuff for it except the EGR which IIRC was attached to the exhaust manifold? The E88 intake could possibly have some smogish connections. I wouldn't know. I have a spare stock intake and SU set up but I am not sure what year it is. I can check it to see if I see smog stuff... Main smog issues came into play with the '73 flat top carbs.
  14. So I hope to see a bunch of Z car peeps at the March Sacramento Z Car Reunion... We want to talk with the Porsche boys and see if we can get a Datsun vs: Porsche Track Challenge going for sometime this year. We would all get together at the track in a Northern California Racing Club event at Thunderhill or Buttonwillow and compare times... We can put Bill and Gary in a class by themselves to make it fair to us track NOOB's...
  15. I have it on good authority that Mr. Silverstreak has asked his wife and she has checked the schedule for any type of dog events and having confirmed that even dog grooming will not occur on the 12th, he may be there unless his wife changes her mind... Just kidding Bill Ha ha! 8D
  16. Guys, please note the date change. I have a co-worker who had a death in the family and we adjusted the schedule so she could go back East. I will be working the 19th. So, it is now the 12th!!! Scott, bring it. This is a co-event with the Porsche 914 guys so obviously we let the German cars in...
  17. I know Steve... I have been to his house and met the doggies...:classic:

  21. Yopu and I are praying for our Kiwi Z brothers and sisters... Sound off so we know you are alright and let us know if there is anything we can do.
  22. +1 vote for SDS. I use it on my 2.4 liter 914 motor. Pretty simple to use. However, you don't know what cam you have do you? You say "bigger cam" and most performance cams available are not appropriate for EFI. They rob you of vacuum. Some EFI systems require 'some' vacuum for the MPS to operate and be involved in your fuel metering. Wrong cam and you will have very little vacuum to work with. This is just as true for the stock system. You can meter the fuel with TPS and O2 sensors but I would have to check, SDS may require MPS. You might be better off with Webers or Mikuni carbs.
  23. I found a second factory service manual in the stuff that came with my '73... I don't need two so I put one in the Classifieds... I get a response! Yah!!! Wants to know if I still have it and the condition. I respond. Today, I get a response telling me that he wants it, wants to pay with a Cashiers check and he will have a trucking company pick it up. It's a book. I doubt you'll need a truck. Why do these idiots still try this crap? Hey! Show some real balls! Send me a cashiers check for $5000 and have me keep $3000 and send you $2000 and the book? Criminals amuse me.
  24. Thanks for the Pics! I had a great time seeing everyone. Wait, not everyone. I didn't see Bill cause he had to go to a dog show... Poor Bill And Gary, where was Gary? Oh Hawaii! I guess that is an OK excuse... At least it doesn't involve dogs
