Driver is stuck in dallas as another customer has not bothered to show up to pick up his cars. So I am pushed waaay back. May be as late as saturday. GRRRRR I actually like a bit of burgundy. tlorber... I have joined 311s.org and I have been lucky to find datsunparts.com. What an amazing resource. I have a few parts lined up. first I need a touneau cover. It does not have one. Then I think I am going to order that complete super kit for the interior and do an entire black to red conversion. I love the white / red combo. The only combo I love more is the silver red. So if I ever get her painted I will be tempted, even though it was originally white (which I really do like as well) More info. It has 70100 miles on the chassis. The motor has been rebuilt once at 59000 miles, but the original block / heads valve cover etc are all in the car. It is funny, my Z had 69800 miles on the chassis when I first bought it. THe similarities of these two cars for me is crazy. Exact same purchase price as well. I will not be getting crazy with this one. I know it has the Gary Boone Electronic Dizzy, which is great, and it has the Datsun B cam. It has had the SU's removed and is running Webers DCOE 45's. It should be a screamer.

I should update that Blue... I will be keeping the STI diff, so I may have broken 94% now.

You know you may want to just enjoy it stock. Those things are nearing legendary status on truck forums. The truck collectible market is just going to stupid high prices as well. The toyota pick up will certainly be one of the first to start climbing.

I need a set of OEM seats for it. Unfortunately the owner put in miata seats which I hate. I love the OEM looking seats with the headrest. The interior is black, but I have pretty much convinced myself I am going to go red, or saddle brown.

Here is the crazy thing. I have never driven one either, but I have heard wonderful things. I just fell in love with the looks, and Datsun knows how to build a great driving car. As far as performance goes, A 2000 with webers make 150 HP. Same as a 240Z. So it should be a fast little car.

I never had a reason to have the key on and not have the engine running to be honest. I gave it relatively little thought and never had a pertronix failure. I think it is just a kind word of caution. Be aware, do not jam with the radio on and the one speaker blaring for too long with the key in the on position.

Well after a while soul searching an many long drives I came to grips that I think the Z is at a stopping point. I will continue my projects until she is closer to 99.9% done, but I had to snag this up. Will be wiring money to the guy this week. We eshook hands and the deal is finished. Meet the Z's new mistress in the garage...

I would ask you what are you doing with the car. IF it is pulling from 1-6k I would leave it alone. You will not find enough additional HP to warrant a huge change like a cam/rockers/lashpad. IF the car is reliable enjoy it. You are polishing the apple now. You can move the power band around more, but if you pull nicely from 1-6 then I say go with it. Making a car pull harder above 6 grand will make it less drivable at idle. Not UNDRIVEABLE mind you, but less drivable. Enjoy what you got working. Large gains will not be had with a cam. You can get more, but think about the cost. Every mod away from stock costs you something and gains you something. Just saying, there is not magic formula of a cam that will get you 260 HP from your block and pistons. Play with your mixtures or needles, that is cool and fun. But you are talking carb tuning now, so get an O2 sensor and let the games begin.

If I may be so bold. Go to any autoshow and walk around. There is nothing, I mean nothing, you can do to a small block chevy that will shock or surprise anybody anywhere. It has been done, and you will probably see 3 just like yours no matter where you go. They are the ubiquitous build up engine. They are more common than lying politicians. But you show them a built and tuned L28 and the sights and the sounds will amaze them. I present my humble engine, not even close to some of the best ones on this board. But there is a never ending line of people who what to talk about my Z at any car show. They walk by the 256 different classic mustangs to come talk to the only Z there. Keep it a Datsun engine, and your dedication will be rewarded 10 fold.
