  1. Wow, alot of pics, looks like done profressionaly. They are not trying to hide anything cosmetically. Any one can see the things that a ZCCA judge would deduct in a car show which I found out in Daytona this year when I showed mine in the daily driver class 72 240. It was a learning experiance for me. It's a very good looking car and I'm glad to see the $ interest in it, that makes me feel better about mine not that I want to sell it. The question I have for the experts out there ie Carl and others is, do you think this car not considering the mileage would bring in a higher price if it was restored to as close to oringinal stock or with all the modifications it has. Just wondering.
  2. Moritz55, I didn't mean that in a negative way. When I got my first 240 in the 70's those seats were the "koolist" around.
  3. I've been thinking about those belts. Thanks for the pics. Get rid of the seatcovers and do your seats the way they were meant, they will thank you for it. Their to good looking to be covered like that.
  4. I live in North Florida, don't see many first gen either. I guess they must be in hibernation only to be taken out occasionaly for a nice weekend drive. The funny thing is I drove it to my local Nissen dealership with my young son because he wanted to test drive a new Z(something dads and sons do) and the salesman asked me "what kind of car is that?"

My first 72 had it on the passenger side and my current one it's on the driver side. Neither ones works that well.
  6. I'm thinking about changing my 72 to a zx dizzy. Let me know how it goes
  7. Would it be better to switch to an electronic ignition ie zx type. I've been compteplating that on my 72? Mine runs rich and keeps fouling my plugs. would that help?

Welcome, Where in FL are you from. Nice looking Z's
  9. Will, Who's the person you were refering to about the chrome strips on the door panels. Thanks again for the CD of my Z on the crossing the finish line @ the ZCCA Nationals in Daytona in Oct.
  10. Had the same problem with mine, going off and on. Took the bulb out and don't miss it.
  11. Congrats, Welcome to the Z family. Looks like you have alot of work ahead. It's going to cost $ and your time but don't give up. It will take awhile until it's where you want it but in the long run it will be worth it.
  12. I agree with Will' Chris and Doug.I also know the seller and he is a standup guy and represents the car well. If some one is wants to pay that price good for him, at least they know what their getting without the BS.
  13. That's funny, I had the same problem this weekend when iI went to replace my piece of crap stereo with a new Kenwood from Best Buy. They want to charge a fortune for a harness and instalation. It took me and my son 3 hours to trace the speaker wires and undo the mess that was there( spiced wires connected with electrical tape). The Kenwood came with a harness but had to spice in the speaker wires once we determined witch ones were witch, don't use electrical tape use wire connecters and krimps. Know we need to replace the spearkers, anyone know if someone makes rear speaker boxes for 83 z's. don't like the locations of the current ones

If I were you I'd put it under cover and in a garage, since you live on the outer banks the salt breeze with kill it. Living on the FL coast did one of mine in.
  15. For those prices I would get both. I personaly would go with the 240. I have a 240 with AT and it's fine. In stop and go traffic it's so much easier, besides that's the way it came and I'm keeping it factory stock except Im thinking about a electronic ignition. I got a 280 ZX 5 speed when I want to get sporty. Both are daily drivers except when it rains.
  16. If you know of anyone from Florida that's transporting via semi- let me know because I'm interested
  17. I had the same concerns about insurance on my 72 when I purchased it a few years back after years of missing the fun of having a Z that actually ran. I parked my original 72 on the side of my house in 84 when I started a family it sat there neglected for for all those years because the family comes first. When kids were finally out of college and all the bills paid I finally could turn my $ and efforts towards the car. By that time is was to late and the car was only good as a parts car. I was lucky enough to find the exact year/color that was in good shape that the PO had been restoring and I was able to finish it and it looks and drives great. I insured it with Allstate since my other cars were. Didn't think much about it until I asked him if some jerk ran into me and totaled it how much would it be worth. $1,000 he told me, we all know that's crazy. I looked at Hagarty's but they have to many stipulations, like can't be driven to work, must be in a locked garage, milage issues. Their price mey be good but alot of folks can't meet their criteria. I met a Z guy at the 2007 Daytona Convention named Jim Fredericks from the Tampa area (you would't believe the first gen Z Collection he has, Jay Leno would be envious). since he's an insurance agent he said he was able to secure policies for Z's on an agreed value with Progressive. Both my 72 and 82 are now covered with what I feel is a fair value. It's great to be back in the Z world after all these years and not have to worry about some un-lincenced illegal alien totaling my car.
  18. Wow, your choke light actualy works. I haven't seen mine on in 30 years. Never thought much of it. Now thinking of it maybe it could be hooked up to some more important.
  19. Wow, that's looks great. I bet the seats won't fry you in the summer like black one's do.
  20. Wow that's unreal if it is what he says, I wonder if the warrante is still good, just kidding. Does anyone know what the sticker price of that model was in 82?
  21. I also bought the gold Tech one from MSA for my 240,the side mirrow wasn't a big deal since I only have one and my antena actually retracts. It was so good I bought one for my 280ZXT it had both mirrow cut outs and antena hole. They are a little expensive but are well worth it. A small price compared to the price you probably spent on your paint job.
  22. I know this might sound stupid and would get alot of grief on another website. My windsheid has a scratch from the PO when he used the wipers and the rubber was worn out. Can this be fixed. I don't drive it if there is rain predicted but in Florida you never know.
  23. I replaced mine with the MSA. My oringinal jute just flaked away after all the years. The MSA's might be different but if it lasts half the amount time my oringinal did that's fine with me. I'll be long gone by then.
  24. Daytona was a good venue and the FLZA did a great job. The cost of entering my car in the show and the track events was okay, for my son and friends enter the track to veiw the event was very costly. Alot of money for a tee shirt. If you want more people from the public to attend it wouldn't make more sence to charge some thing like $10.00 for them to veiw the event.
  25. Steve, never mind I forgot there's a G'ville in Ga I live in the one in FL home of the Gators
