Restoring 240Z Sunvisors
On my 280Z, I was going to remove the covering completely, then all the padding and cut a piece of the corrugated plastic board, RTV silicone ( or Goop) it into the metal frame, then have the vinyl sewed up along the edges. I'm also reshaping the metal wire frame to fit the new rearview mirror. thx

The beginning of "Cannonball Run"
Is it supposed to be video, or just some sound? I've tried to view it as video on different computers, and nothing will show on the screen, but the sound was good. thx

Cargo net for rear deck
The only stuff I have left are a some standoff/support brackets the deck sits on. there were never any straps, and the only threaded holes are for the bolts holding the brackets.

Cargo net for rear deck
remember the cargo nets? Looks like fish netting. Was it ever an option on the Z? I remember lots of domestic hatchbacks having them. So I think I might be able to get on on the deck of my car to keep the stuff back there under control., especially since there's not too many place to put stuff with the spare back there. I would probably attach it to/under the chrome strip along the front of the deck and some hooks & velcro straps along the back. where can you get those? The only place I found one was jcwhitney.com thx

New Hungarian site !
Keep in mind it's only the prototype for the final thing, so there might be some differences later. They're even finalizing the domain name at this time.

2-Way Radios (FRS/GMRS)

2-Way Radios (FRS/GMRS)
Oh yeah- From my research, I learned that channels 1-7 are GMRS channels (FRS too). Because it has GMRS and FRS on it, does that mean you need a license to transmit to an FRS radio? thx

Spring Pin size on Door
On my driver's door the pin that the spring-loaded arm (with the notches on it) pushes on to keep the door open has broken off. Did that pin screw in or was it pressed? Does anybody know the size of the pin? thx

How Close Are Our VIN #'s
I wouldn't doubt that. I only use it as a general reference anyway. Even the production date in the chart was wrong for MY car. I'm starting to wonder about the correctness of the parts they are selling now. I replaced the coolant sensor for the ECU, and now the engine runs funny. I think I'll trek up to the dealer to see if they can get me some original paperwork on the car. thx

How Close Are Our VIN #'s
That's even more odd. My car ( 434056) has a LATER build date (11/78), and a LOWER serial number?? Maybe 11/78 was the "sell by date" Looking through the serial number chart in my VB catalog, it has the 280Z serial numbers going up to 470k- something

How Close Are Our VIN #'s
There were several letters in there. According to the Haynes book AND THE FSM: GHLS30 [1] [2] [3] [4] ###### [1] F = 5-spd gearbox A = auto trans (blank = 4 spd [2] U = North American model (U.S.A and Canada) [3] N = Canada model V = California emmissions/spec (blank) = fed. spec [4] C = Air conditioning So mine should have been HLS30AUC 434056 It must have been one of the last 280Zs made. I winder what the serial number of the LAST 280Z was? thx

How Close Are Our VIN #'s
Mine is HLS30-434056 (brown/Brown) I think it should be HLS30A-434056 because it has an automatic transmission. According to the serial number, it's supposed to be a ZX? (got the serials from the 'Datsun Z club.') I wonder if your VIN accurately describes your car? FYI -- If you didn't know, you can't run your S30 VIN through the CARFAX system because it will only accept a 17-digit VIN, which didn't start until the late 70s/early 80s. thx

76 280z EFI/ High Idle - Please Help...
LISTEN... Check every place where you could have a vacuum leak, like the cold-start valve, throttle bypass, etc. You might be able to hear the hissing from the vacuum leak. A small leak can add 300-400 RPM to the idle. Maybe even check the bolts on those to make surethey're tight.
