Ever seen those dolls at car or hotrod shows that are wearing kiddie clothes, and they look like they are crying or moping? Can you give some info about those? What are they formally called? Do you make those? thx

You might want to use a sharp pencil to very lightly trace the outline of the striker plate before moving it. Might.

first of all, what car are you referring to? What engine is in it? The fuel-injected engines use 8mm (5/16 inch) fuel lines. Be sure to use fuel injection fuel lines, not the regular low-pressure stuff. Also, there is usually a hard line (steel tube) that is used for the fuel return, and it goes back into the side of the fuel fuel tank. You'll see it when you service your fuel tank. It may be blocked, which is why the return line was re-routed. While you are at it, replace all the rubber hoses that carry fuel. Any original ones must be way old & ready to split. Be aware that some of the fuel tank hoses have special bends that can't be easily duplicated. Are there any other clues you can tell to help? thx

Good point, Carl While it is (or was) kind of "offensive" that owners of ZXs or 300Zs were suggested to not get involved, this web site has evolved to finally include all S30s, and the 240k , all of which are related under the skin. It was still appropriate for the site originator to define the scope of material to just the 240Z, just as there are other web sites dedicated to cars like the Cooper Mini, or the Ford Pinto, or even the *gulp* 350Z (no frog smiley/icon?) There are better places to go to for those niche autos, or even places like RoadGodz.com, where they talk mostly about touring or driving Zs to places or events all over the country. Anybody have a record of the very first few posts from 240Z.org? thx

I was going to mention GRM mag and CM mag, but their not particularly Z-car related. More like period-related stuff, although you will se some new stuff too. The problem with finding Z-car related materials in print is because the Z-car fits in a niche segment of the auto industry, and it's not as popular as it was in the 70s & 80s. BTW- do you suppose NissanSport would consider sending out a sample issue? It would probably help swing those people that are on the fence on which magazine(s) to subscribe to. thx

If the cassette player won't play tapes, maybe you could still put in one of those audio input adapters to hook up a separate tape player (like a walkman) or an MP3 player, or a CD player.

It's supposed to be from an early 240Z

I found a 'floor mount' phone holder on eBay. It has an arm that goes to the front seat bolt. It seems to be a good way to mount a phone/PDA/MP3 player, but you have to take your eyes off the road to look DOWN at the PDA or phone; not a good habit in traffic or twisties. But then it's good to have voice prompts of you are using a PDA for navigation. Floor mount Auction I will look into a similar mount to attach to the side of the heater area frame. thx

Anybody using a PDA or phone in their car? What style is it- windscreen mount, vent mount, floor mount, or what? I thought it might be possible to make a bracke that goes on the side of the heater section, or the side of the glovebox, and then attach the PDA mount to that, so it doesn't block the vents, gauges or windscreen. I use a Palm PDA, with GPS & Mapopolis. thx.

Hey! I actually managed to get a new mast on my motor! I bought a lot of old Z antennas off eBay for cheap, and I got a good antenna mast off of one. The original antenna motor from my car was still working (all 3 eBay antennas were quirky) I managed to get the good mast onto my motor and all I need to do now is to test/fix the antena power wiring in my car, and install the antenna unit, and a control switch. Too bad those rockers that Enrique found at Radio Junk are all NLA. BTW, I have a questionable 240Z antenna unit for free; just pay the shipping.

OK, I got my "fully-automatic" antenna off eBay (AntennaX brand) and I looked inside the control box. There's a relay, and a geared switch for the ground leg. With the voltmeter, I poked around what's inside while the motor was on to see what the deal is, and still haven't figured that part out (yet.) It's a plain old DC motor, so maybe you can rewire the relay to make it work differently. It is possible to hook up a full-auto antenna to go up & down as you want, like an oem antenna does. You need a DPDT, center off, momentary switch to do it. Power chart: . . . . . Up . Dn . Off Sens. ..X . . O . . O +12V. . X . . X . . O Sens: antenna sensor wire +12V: constant power ( from Ign or ACC circuit) So, with some fancy jumpers on a DPDT switch, and the stock wires, you can control your antenna, just not with the oem SPDT switch. eBay has some nice antenna switches from Mercedes, et al, but since I don't know what the pin-outs are, I don't really want to waste money on that. HTH

The A-pillars are at the front corners of the roof (to the body), B-pillars are at the middles (on a 4-door sedan/coupe) and the C-pillars are at the back corners of the roof.

I was thinking that some 'expert' had convinced you that those were the rear speakers, cleverly hidden in those covers.

Maybe it's a little late, but what made you think those were speaker boxes??

The 240z had the best-sounding audio clip. It was the 'raw' sound of an free-breathing engine, the kind of a real sports car from an era of real sports cars. The others were obviously sounds of the newer engines, with the too-smooth sound you get with the modern balancing, and choked with all the modern emmissions and other strange constricting stuff.
