aerodynamics...
I agree with you that that the stock Z looks good enough, however i really think that if your going to drive your Z at high speed a front air dam is needed. I found that my 240 started to get light under the nose when i approached 90. Unless your a serious racer then a rear spoiler is just cosmetic and for the most part i dislike them. However msa does sell some smaller spoilers that just provide a sort of lip coming of the rear deck lid. As for down force V's speed i would talk to 2manyZ's i belive he has had s good bit of racing experience and would know more about it than me.

Amp Gauge is Bouncing
Hey Ed if you need a new VR quick or anyother parts right away go and see Lee at All Z Wrecking. As the name suggests it's a wrecking yard that deals only with Z's, it is the Valhalla of Z parts. Infact i have a couple of VR's myself if you need one. I live in Mission Valley let me know if i can help.

new exhaust - banging?
Right on man hit the gas and let it sing!.

new exhaust - banging?
Maybe i'm missing the whole resonator thing since i really don't know what one is. My muffler is a thrush sold by msa and it certainly does not sound like those hated rice burning fart pipes that the kids in my town insist on putting on their rides. Infact most people think i have a V8. I wouldn't do that to my Z.

new exhaust - banging?
I installed a similar system on my 240 except it was a 2.5 with turbo muffler. My exhaust came in several pices and each section had a clamp and U bolt. Also inorder to hook it up to my 6 into 2 headers i had to use a rubber mallet and bang it in there. You need a tight fit or your going to have a leak. I suppose with a sectional pipe if you leak exhaust anywhere it's going to be louder at idle, moreover when you get on it it might make sense that it's going to sound like it's backfiring. The muffler came with a thick leather strap to hook it up with. Basically there are several holes and you just bolt it up there. I had to cut it in half and force it in the last hole to make it tight inorder to prevent it from sounding like a bongo at high speed. As for a resonators i have no experience with them, my engine sounds so good now i took out the radio.

A question of carbs
I was cruisen around the site last night and i thought i saw something on triple SU's. I have never seen triple SU's on any 240 i have seen . They must be rare, i would imagine that you would have to build a custom intake manifold for them. Anyone got the 411 on triple SU's.

Who's going to the Motorsport show?
I also live in San Diego and am planning to go to the show. I would be happy to promote the club in anyway i can. My Z is not in show condition but if there are anyother members in the San Diego area that want to drive up there in our Z's i'm in for that. Mike if you have T shirts or stickers i'll buy one. Let me know whats up i'd be happy to help.

Front Spoiler Options
My only experience with air dams and spoilers is with msa. They have several options for your 77 both fibergalss and urethane. Prices are in the 140 - 290 range.

Converting Interior (White to Black)
I used a vinyl spray to clean up the interior of my 72 240 and it worked very well. I used a product called Plasti Kote that can be found at Pep Boys. If your interior isn't cracked and falling apart it might be a good idea to try a good vinyl spray first, at the very least it will save you some money.

A question of carbs
I've been thinking about a triple carb set up and was wondering what things should be considered before installing such a set up. Currently my 72 has the stock L24 with a few mods i put on such as msa 6 into 2 headers, ZTherepy SU carbs with air horns and filters, a 2.5 exhaust, and a crane electronic igniton. I also took off all the smog stuff like the air pump and air galley. I invested the money for the ZTherepy carbs so this is not something that's going to happen right away but i know there are members with experience with triple carbs and i'd appreciate their input. Should i dump the L24 before i really get serious with triple carbs, or can good hp be found in this engine with the right set up. Do triple carbs require an electronic fuel pump or can the mechanical unit do the job. Mikuni's or Webers?.

Air dam/bumper
I found a pic of my air dam on member galleries. It's under Mike on the last page of his photos, the pic is called blue Z. It looks to me to be the very same msa air dam i have.

Air dam/bumper
I didn't get the whole Aero kit as msa calls it just the air dam so i don't now how well the rest of the kit would fit. I should think that all the body parts they sell will require a bit of work to fit just right.

Tekniq steering wheel
The wheel has a horn button that works and the turn signals work fine, are we talking about the same wheel.

carpet kits or tips
I'm looking into putting in a new carpet in my 72. I know there must be plenty of folks out there that have done this. My question is who out there sells the best kits and has anybody just gone and done it them selves. I'd like to do a custom job my self so if anyone has any tips on auto trim or knows of some good books or videos i'd really appreciate it.

Air dam/bumper
The air dam is fiberglass and pretty thick with a nice white jell coat. Lucky for me my Z is white so unitl i buy my compressor and paint guns and learn how to auto paint it doesn't stick out too bad.

Tekniq steering wheel
I believe that the add was in Super Street, i only remeber it because there was a write up of a 500 hp 240Z in it. The link is www.tekniqauto.com

Air dam/bumper
no it's a complete rap around that doesn't use the stock bumper. The air dam you have pictured was my seconed choice because i liked it on other 240's i'd seen. If you have an msa catalog it is item # 50-1409 it is pictured top page 8. nice ride by the way.
