72 240Z Roadster
I wouldn't do it to mine, but I love it! Looks very well done. You'd barely know it's a Z; has a German quality to it.

pannel shops how $$$
If you decide to take it apart, in the process you'll realize how easily everything goes back together. It just takes a little time. DO NOT use a wire wheel (your mate was right). I used Aircraft stripper to get the bulk of the old paint off, then followed with a high speed orbital sander. If there's any rust, I would use the wire wheel to clean that up in preparation for the panel man.

"If you want to save money, the more work you do yourself, the less work you will have to pay for." That's the key. It's surprisingly easy to strip a Z of all badges, bumpers, glass, etc. The more you do of this stuff, the better off you are. Additionally, the Z IS a small car... try doing sanding and paint stripping yourself; you'd be surprised at how quick you make real progress.

Idle too fast
After warm-up, my 77 wants to idle at "way too high" rpms. A quick punch of the accelerator only works some of the time. Not long ago, I removed the air filter and housing prior to doing some grill work; I have not replaced it yet. Could the free breathing be causing it to idle so fast? (The car exhibited the same symptoms prior to removal, but it's much more pronounced now.

Me & The Skyline a long time ago!
Nota280, I was going to ask if the pic was taken at an AFB also! Looks like a TAC base, based on the paint.

grill experiment2
I'm the lone dissenter; I don't like it. I like what you're doing, I just don't care for the material you're working with. I like something more of a matte gray/flat black "honey comb" look than what you've located.

Lizard Shifter
Let me guess: You filed and insurance claim for the stolen shift knob. This IS the Geico lizard. I didn't know he was actually a claim adjuster, I just thought he was an actor.

What model Z do or did you own?
might be interesting to know the breakdown of who owns "What" and "Where". i.e., 240's in Australia/New Zealand, Europe, North America 260's in same 280's in same I know that's a heckuva lot of options, so probably not practical. My guess(?) is that more 260's down under than anywhere else?

Very nice car; but you're risking your life by posting the pix here! There are those (myself NOT included) that will cry "blasphemy!!"

Ditto V12! There's lots of great "looks" for a Z, but a good argument could be made that the Rally Z's are Z's at their best!

Ready to begin build up of '81 L28
I already own the 81 motor. I've always heard that the P79 is much better than the N42; maybe I'm wrong. I thought he P90 head is for Turbo.

Ready to begin build up of '81 L28
I have a low-miles L28 w/ P79 head. I know that I'm going to add the MSA cam with slalom grind (.480 lift, 260 duration) and headers. I'm undecided on whether to stick w/ fuel injection or switch to triple Webers. With the above mods in place, can I add the carbs later. And if so, is this a good match?
