  1. I finally got around to doing something with this. I dropped by my local Z mechanic last week to see what pro tips he may have and it was well worth the stop. Super simple fix using something everyone has in their garage (I was obviously over complicating it by seeking a pipe expander). He took a socket that was just barely too big and hammered it in the end to expand it ever so slightly, this also had the added benefit or making the tube perfectly round again (not sure if it was already or not). Super simple fix!! I installed it today and the install was just as I would have expected, a nice tight compression fit...tapped it in gently with a hammer. All is good. 🙂 Hope that this helps someone else in the future.
  2. Removed quite a bit of undercoating on project 51. Looks pretty darn good body wise. Floor will need to be worked on, or replaced for certain. Overall still happy with structure. Front radiator cradle is the tough one. .I’m not sure I can “adjust,” all the dents and twists that have appeared. Upper cowl support looks like someone stood on the passenger side at one time. Spare tire well, although rusty inside, has no rust thru pinholes after blasting from both sides….
  3. OK - so the generic spring I got off Amazon works, and is not excessive tension, nor too difficult to install in place. We'll see how long it lasts. Since links don't last particularly long dimensions to look for are: 0.047"x0.39"x2.76" - "Stainless Steel Tension Spring Wire" or 'Extended Tension Spring Wire" comparison:
  4. Some scary looking rust repairs done to the floor pans then hidden under thick layer of gravel guard. Can't imagine BaT went for much of a reserve.

  6. I don't use the search feature on the forum. I use a Google search and use "site:classiczcars.com" at the end. It will crawl this site alone for results. I get better results this way
  7. Found Eurodat's parts listing Shift lever base issue Ground shifter
  8. Mine wouldn't fully engage 5th because the shift rod hit. You'll see marks where they hit and you grind that down some and it'll go in and stay in 5th. Post #16
  9. All of the seals were still available through Nissan. There is a complete parts list posted by @EuroDat on the forum. With @dave wm help he guided me through resealing two close ratio transmissions. Be sure to change all of the seals including the ones in the shifter housing. I have a small amount of parts not many including the main shaft nut I didn’t need. Also the detent springs and ball bearings are still available as well as the speedo seal. Check out @EuroDat. A plethora of information there. I just took a torch to my shifter and put a small curvature in it to clear 5th gear.
