  1. This is kind of what I was alluding to with my 'de-contented' theme a few days ago, as it seems clear the final specification and content of the earliest production North American market cars was still somewhat in flux even after the start of production. Since tinted glass, HRWs and all the other 'missing' parts (including carpets...!) already existed on other variants, this can only have been due to wrangling over costs and the targeted selling price.
  2. Unfortunately, in the last 3 years some of our molds 240Z included, found their way into the wrong hands. Making bumpers in Vietnam requires a good sample bumpers and creating an accurate mold. This is not as easy as it sounds. We work closely with restorers and heritage suppliers in Europe and beyond to recreate as accurately as humanly possible. Classic cars are extremely rare in Vietnam as importation is forbidden. Some cars have entered the country over the years when the laws were less inflexible. As example, we own a 1964 Mercedes 230SL;I believe it is only 1 of 4 in the entire country, compared to the abundance of cars elsewhere in the world. Therefore, sourcing samples requires good contacts in other countries who assist us to make molds. When back-door competition purchase stolen molds and operate from a greatly reduced cost base, they drive down prices to a level which is no longer a commercially viable for larger, registered and regulated producers. This type of competition is not great for the end user as bone-fide producers cease production and focus where skulduggery does not exist. That results in limited supply and eventually rising prices when all quality bumpers have been exhausted. I would like owners to make a judgement call. The 'About Us' , section of Bumper Automobile on their website. This is the first paragraph..... I'm not entirely sure what it means, but I am sure they have not spent years of research and product development working closely with classic parts suppliers.... About Us Update: 28/03/2019 My country, Viet Nam, there are no more cars and more and rarer classic cars. We engaged in the field of corrective and maintenance of vehicles in 25 years. Like you, my friends and I that car enthusiast, especially the classic car. They are built to the jewel, skilled workers clearly expressed, is the main craft. If you are a good beater, you will be attracted by an antique car with the bumper perfectly, the most valuable rewards for labor needs and error. That is why we produce the sample bumpers for classic cars.
  3. 'Superleggera'. ? In fact there were many details 'wrong' - especially interior-wise - on this car. It's a little risky to try to pin down a single factory spec for the roadgoing 432-Rs, but they certainly didn't have exposed 918 Grand Prix Orange paint visible in their interiors - apart from the rear deck area - as they were all satin black. It was a little jarring to see freshly painted body colour in the forward section of the interior in this car, and where the missing diamond-pattern vinyl would have been. Many other examples of late 'personalisation' evident on the car too: Brake booster, KS 'Rally Mag' replica wheels, trumpet mesh covers, half-painted rear spoiler, Schroth harnesses etc. I wouldn't kick it out of bed, but some of these things are itches I'd want to scratch...
  4. Just to share some details of a clear glass car! Car has no rust, body and floors are perfect!
  5. According to the label, that spot welder is made by Telwin. They are Italian (we already knew that). Web page here showing their products (prodotti) >> https://www.telwin.com/en/prodotti That welder is their Modular 230 (or an earlier version of the same), and if you dig down into that model, you can get to a datasheet. Here's some info from the datasheet that may help with the above academic discussion: Enjoy.
  6. I started looking through the history of posts we have about the Z432 & Z432-R and think we've missed out on categorizing this properly. Many of these conversations are spread throughout the site into different forums. As a result, I have created a new forum for the Z432 and moved the Japanese market stuff to its own category. I'm going to start moving the 432 stuff into this new forum now. As I look at some of the projects you guys have worked on, it's apparent I still need more education on this spectacular version of the Z. So, this will be a lot of fun! ? Here's a link to the new area: https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/forum/152-jdm/ Mike
