  1. Installed new rubber on the main wiring harness body clips Before After
  2. After almost 3 years of blood, sweat and tears, the Z is complete ( well 95% it will never be 100%). There is a ton of pictures from start until now. I know most will like and some will pick this apart, so be it. This is my first shot at a restoration and I am very pleased with the results. I am not afraid of comments and welcome them. I do want to thank CZCC and the members for all the information that I have "borrowed" to make this car "better" and will continue to use. I would like to give a special thank you to Mystic Autobody for the paint/ body work and Marks Custom Interiors for installation of headliner, seats and carpet. I also would like to give a big thumbs up to Motorsport auto, zcarsource, and Oliver at Zspecialties (custom 2+2 floor pans) for all the parts I needed. Quick history of car: My father purchased this used in 1975 ( he had to have the 2+2 ( 3 kids)), drove it until 1982 when he got into an accident with it, sent it to body shop in 1982 where it sat in the garage until he received call in 2012 asking if he wanted the car back, I picked up the car and started the rustoration. Hope you all enjoy these as much as I do. Mike https://goo.gl/photos/V8tJ7gMZmtjh7qUu9

I've lurked here for a while, but, never posted since I didn't own a z. This morning, I got a delivery. This car was purchased new by my uncle in 1976, bought by my father from him in the late 80's, and now it's mine. Currently, it's not running. My dad parked it away one winter several years ago and hasn't run it since. He tells me he's started it not too long ago, but the battery is completely dead and the fuel guage shows empty. I tried jump starting it with my truck this morning but no go. It turned over and all the electrics seems to work but it just wouldn't start. I've got the battery on a trickle charger now, although I suspect it's dead dead. I'll get some fresh gasoline this afternoon and try jumping it again. Going through it, the interior needs the most work. The head liner is missing. The carpeting is not secured well but is in good shape. The seats are in excellent condition but dirty and the whole inside needs a detailing. It's got black carpet with cream seats, door cards and head liner. The door seals look shot to me, and I'm guessing the hatch seals are the same. On the exterior, there is one ding on the driver's side and an area that has some filler that's cracked (the car got stolen in the 90's and recovered and had some damage to the hatch that was repaired). Neither is a huge issue, but I"ll address them once I get to redoing the exterior (last on my list). Other than that i's missing a few emblems and needs to be washed and buffed out. Mechanically it looks very sound. No rust anywhere although I haven't gotten up under it yet. The suspension is probably shot, although my dad says it drives fine. The tires are too big (the rears rub when you go over bumps). Right now, plans are to first get it running. I'll do a full fluid/filter change. Then suspension, door/hatch seals, hoses and belts and new tires. I'll also inspect the brakes and service them if needed. Once it's running and driving the way it should, I'll start looking at intake and exhaust. I don't intend to extensively modify this car. I remember driving it back in the 80's/90's and I think it drives very well. To me, the intake looks screwy (sucks from inside the engine bay) and I'd like to put a performance exhaust on it. Any other ideas for lightly modding these engines? I don't intend on rebuilding it at this point. I'd like to see how it performs before I decide if it's needed. The other question I'm struggling with is looks. I like how it looks now. Aside from a lip spoiler my Dad put on (but never had painted) the car is almost 100% stock. Part of me says to leave it this way (although I'll get the body work done and have it repainted). The other part says make it my own and remove the bumpers, put on fender flares, new wheels, etc. Is this car worth preserving as is? I don't intend to sell the car. I'll pass it on to one of my daughters in ten or twenty years (they're 4 and 5 now) so resale value isn't really a consideration. I'd love to hear some opinions!
  4. I recently picked up a 240z from an old guy that's had it for decades. It's in really great shape but hasn't been driven in awhile. I changed th oil when I got it home and have put a couple hundred miles on it. I noticed that it's leaking coolant in several places, one spot seems to be coming from where the head and block meet but definitely from a couple of the hoses. I started draining the coolant to flush it and found it to be very milky. I've attached a pic. It's not smoking or overheating so if there is something going on with the head gasket it doesn't appear to be severe yet. Anyone have any ideas of what the issue could be?
  5. That is the pump I use in the rear. I am not too sure that location is going to work. I have never seen one located there. I think that is a pusher pump. Not made to pull fuel. Maybe someone that has done this can tell us.
  6. Why yes, yes there are. And here are the steps I followed to find them. You may find them useful in the future. 1. Find the little "Search" box in the upper right hand corner of this page. 2. Click on "This Topic" and select "Forums" from the drop down menu. 3. This is where it gets tricky....type a word or words related to what you're looking for into the "Search" box. Since you're looking for pictures of the REPRODUCTION heater control panel, type the word "reproduction" in the "Search" box. 4. Scroll down through the list of messages until you find the one that contains pictures of the repro panels. They're offered by forum member esprist. I think you can also find them on eBay. To paraphrase something I read in the Bible, "Do an Internet search for a man and you remove his lack of knowledge but once. Teach a man to search and and you keep him from bugging you with search questions forever." Dennis
  7. Looks like a relay that someone added to the headlight circuit at some point.
  8. Today I went to check on the progress of my Weber Instilation and things are looking good 👍 they've fitted an electronic fuel pump, pressure regulator, pipercross filters with back plates and 33mm chokes, all that's left to do now is get her on the rolling road and tune up properly, jets etc I should be able to collect this Thursday afternoon, can't wait :-)
  9. We have had numerous customers asking for new floats. It covers everything from "I stabbed mine with a screw driver" to "they are soaking up gas". The longer time has gone on the more prevalent the calls have become. We have been installing used floats up to now just to get good ones going out but the combination of the cries for floats and our supply of "good used" getting leaner, it was time . NISSAN had no more and pricing on the last we bought from them was about 3 times what ours are going for. Bottom line: Time to step up and add another part to our manufactured list. All of our Z car and 2 liter roadsters will now include ZT-30 floats as part of the package....... Any of our carbs out in the field will have perfectly serviceable floats (until you stab them with a screwdriver or some such)......
