  1. I've had a continuing problem with the idle speed or mixture screws changing position over time despite the spring tension to hold them. Thinking back to the days when all cars had carbs, this was a common cause of deteriorating idle between tune ups. As polution controls became common, the idle mixture screw was set at the factory and locked in place with a non-removable cap. But these are impossible to find today. I envisioned making my own caps out of plastic when it occurred to me that a similar piece already exists in the form of electrical wire nuts with shrouds. I purchased some at Home Depot - 2 to 5 # 14 wire size. I punched out the spring locks from the back side with a 1/8" punch and trimmed the shroud to match the screw surrounding. My idle speed screw has a hex head instead of a knurled screw head, so I cut a slit in grabbing area to weaken it. Here is what I came up with:

  3. I found the ultimate solution to this problem: Start with a fresh computer without browser history Get your wife to search for lingerie like every day, or hell do it yourself Whenever you go shopping online do it in "private mode" so as not to accumulate cookies Enjoy seeing nothing but scantily clad smoking hot models during regular browsing, while getting your forum sites paid
  4. I popped mine in with a small flathead screwdriver. In a not too rough fashion, I stuffed in one side of the base fitting and then worked around till it all went in. Should only take a second. Just be careful not to push in so much as to slice the stem.

Well I've decided to hold off the turbo motor for the time being, or at least wait until I bring my bottom end to the machine shop to get a diagnosis. Here are a couple pictures of what I'm dealing with. What I'm concerned most about is the discolouring of the crank where it was clearly getting quite warm. What do you think?
  6. Me? It means you've got what looks like a great start for project. It means we've all been there. Stuff will be out of place. Stuff will be missing. Stuff will be wired wrong. Stuff will be put on backwards. Stuff will be leaking because it's too loose or too tight or because it's standard thread when it should have been metric. It's standard operating procedure.
  7. Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah I have a basic running knowledge of cars, but I'm no expert. My dad was a mechanic for twenty years so he is gonna help me fix it up. What's the AFM? . Yeah I already started writing down a list of stuff that I know I'll need without a doubt.vthanks for the website leads and the specific tips! I'm glad there's a place that I can get help on this project. The underside..... Well its got some rust. Nothing has wholes in it though so that's good. I'll post underside pics in a few minutes.
