What a difference a new clutch makes !!! Recieved the new carrier and was actually able to adj the clutch to spec's. Can't thank Dave at power torque (perfection clutch) enough for his great customer service. My girl shifts smoother than ever and with the new rebuild on the motor and transmission, is a joy to drive. Next up is the suspension and exhaust. Great to have people who actually care about their product and customers
  2. At long last we have the newly manufactured (for us) Z car floats in house ready for sale. The ZT-100 Reman will include the new floats. Sold individually they are $30 each. Float pivot pins are $1.00 and float bowl lid gaskets are $2.00. Don't forget to include these items with your order if you need them. We also have new composite free floating floats for the 38 mm Hitachis. The 38 mm float pricing remains at the $30 level where they have been for several years. 3. There's an ECU flow chart in the '75 through '78 FSMs. It shows the spark signal triggering a multivibrator circuit. Apparently the base width of the output is modulated by the AFM voltage and altitude switch. So the AFM output is primary to the formation of the base pulse. That pulse is then lengthened by correction signals deriving from the TPS, CTS, and ATS, as well as a correction for battery voltage. At no point is there any sort of frequency-to-voltage conversion. I feel certain that would be reflected in the flow chart, as other details of lesser significance are indicated (e.g. ignition wave shaping).
  4. 10 MPG ought to be easier to find than this... Those plugs don't look all black and sooty as I would have expected. At 10 MPG, I would have expected loose fluffy.
  5. I have heard about this "4500" limit but don't think a 4500 rpm limit exists until someone shows me the circuit and its purpose. I can rev to 4500 out-of-gear with very little air by hand reving or I can cruise down the highway in 3rd and hold at 4500 or I rev to 4500 WOT in 5th tearing down a straight at Bonneville. The CFM of air entering the engine is different for each 4500 and the AFM Vane will be in different locations. It is a bit of circuit de-constructing that is required to figure it out for ourselves. Even the Nissan EFI fuel table (below) does not show the AFM contribution! So there are a lot of unknowns.
  6. Maybe someone with a similar displacement and a similar cam could tell you what their idle rpm's are and how stable it is. I would be surprised if it was a cam problem. I guess you could try to contact Schneider and see what they suggest for an idle rpm. Having to rely on mechanics to sort your antique car can be a problem, unless your have some money to spend. I wouldn't rule out ignition or electrical issues contributing to your problem. Charles
