Muffler suggestions

Featured Replies

Looking for a performance muffler from flow master for a 1973 240z. Im looking for a throaty deeper sound and added power any suggestions? However I do not want to sound like a cheap ricer either. Please put forth your ideas!

I like Borla mufflers..........not too loud, but a nice throaty sound.

I have a 2 1/2" Borla exhaust system for sale in the classifieds. I'll give you a good deal on the muffler and any of the other stainless steel parts.

I've been really happy with the magnaflow's i've used on this last exahaust i've got. Its 2 1/2 inch all the way back with headers and a straight through magnaflow, it sounds fantastic. They come in chrome too.

I don't associate Flowmaster with performance. Borla is nice, their XR-1 is a great performance muffler.

Why aren't you using it?

Fujitsubo Legalis-R on mine. The sound is amazing.

Where did you get it?

With my carb setup, I decided to use a 2 1/4" dia. custom-made Borla system. The 2 1/2" dia. muffler is identical in size to the 2 1/4". It fits well. You can see a few photos in the Members Gallery under Fixitman. A $100.00 for a muffler and tailpipe that will last over 10-15 years is a terrific deal. You just need to have the tailpipe welded on or one end flared.

If you are interested in a full S.S. system, I can put you in touch with MSA's supplier to have the pipes bent.

If you would like a quieter exhaust system, you could even add a Borla resonator.

Custom order from Fujitsubo Japan. There's 3 of us on here with the same exhaust, but we all run different headers.
