Fuel Injector Connectors

Besides replacing the fuel injectors on my 76, I also need all new connectors. I see some seem to come with plug-in pigtails and some with just bare pigtails:

My question is regarding the ones with plug-in pigtails, on the injector harness somewhere under the shrink rap covering, are there maching plugs for the connectors which come with plug-in pigtails?

Or do I still have to splice the harness and add matching plug-in connectors?

Thanks

Gary

That helps, but the seller's description of the plug-in pigtail ones is a little confusing; (s)he wrote

"You are bidding on a new genuine NOS datsun engine fuel injector wiring plug connector harness. This plugs right in to your fuel injection harness. The injector is located on the top part of your engine. This will fit all 1975-1978 datsun 280z.Also 1979-1983 datsun 280zx.This is a must for your restoration. Also feel free to visit my other auctions. If you need more than one email me at end of auction to get more at your winning bid price. As you know there are 6 of these on your car to fit the fuel injectors. If you need all 6 i have the set listed on another auction. I will ship anywere!!!"

Making it sound like thses were for the fuel injectors.

I don't believe the injector connectors are plug and play for the 280z, zx or turbo. You will have to do some splicing. You are still using connectors that have the little wire you have to dig out in order to remove them.

Just go to the JY and pull some newer ones with the quick release with newer boots and sealed connectors. Hondas, saab, volvo, most should have the right connector. I used a 7 pin connector for the AFM on my zxt from a saab which was used on their ABS. Great boot and works perfect.

A member here, who also spends some time on Hybridz, has made up a replacement kit. He seems to know what he's doing and took the advice of some Hybridz members on sourcing the connectors with the attached spring-wire clip, instead of the connectors with the separate clip, which can get lost. Might be worth a PM to see if he's still doing them.

Here's his initial thread, with pictures - http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/thread44788.html

Healey, the connectors offered in Zed's link look quite nice. I'd bite if I hadn't done my engine bay already.

The eBay connectors are just a tad flimsy. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. You can actually work them apart by twisting/deforming, rather than pulling off the wire clip. I suppose that's a lemon/lemonade argument.

I can't remember whether there are bullet connectors in the harness. (I just made myself a new injector harness with a 12-pin disconnect.) However, I can tell you that connectors are always trouble, particularly on higher current circuits. If I were you, I'd crimp the connections and then sweeten them with solder. That would make them 1000% better than OEM. They'll last forever. You may need to use a bit of vinegar to clean corrosion/tarnish to get a good solder joint.
