I'm thinking of retrofitting a fuel injection system into a 1973 240Z. What are the differences in the different systems and is there a better system to be using. I'm not concidering the 280ZX Turbo at this point. I was thinking that a 79 - 83 ZX system may be easier to retro. Any thoughts?

Hello Everyone! I am wondering if there is anything I can do to stop my car from vapor locking. I believe that is what is happening. It runs sweet most of the time. Sometimes it will die while going down the road but that is a different story. What is embarrassing me is the re-starting after sitting a few minutes. I go to a store or whatever, go inside for a few minutes 3-10 minutes, come outside, get in, and start her up. Usually she doesnt protest starting UNLESS you let it die, then you are screwed for a few more miinutes. If it starts, it runs R-O-U-G-H at idle and doesnt take the throttle very well. You have to baby it some. It takes about 2-3 minutes atleast for th…

Well... I did it. It was scarey. Some of the posts on the other thread I posted on this car made me a little timid about the car, but... I spent about half an hour pulling plugs, pre-lubing the cylinders, checking the fluids, installed new battery. It started after only two seconds of cranking. WOW! Tried to put it in gear so I could pull it onto the lift... NO CLUTCH. Tried to tow it to the top of the sloped driveway so I could coast it to the lift... REAR BRAKES FROZEN. Freed the rear brakes, towed it to the slope, put it on the lift. Clutch master cylinder seals shot, slave frozen. Bought rebuild kit for master (bye bye 16 bucks) freed the slave (all rubber wa…

240SX TB Mod

Can anyone explain to me the advantage of changing my stock L28 EFI (280ZX NA) TB with a TB from a 240SX, I hear its bigger but what does that actually mean?? More air into the engine = more power... this is my laymans understanding. Will I notice alot of difference? Or will the gain only be marginal? I have no other mods on the car apart from a RAM AIR Cone Filter. If you've done it is it easy to do? Would you recommend this upgrade? Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this

Is there a site or archive listing all the intake mani's throughout the years of the L-series? I think there is at least three double carb mani's and maybe 5 or more EFI's. Anyone? steve77

saw this while playing around on zcar.com (like you guys don't surf the other boards, either) anyway, looks like someone scanned the factory EFI book, and posted it. the book seems to be based on the 75 280, so not entirely sure which other S30 280s it will be useful for. Here's the link to the book : EFI book on zcar here's a link to the thread on the zcar board. may help answer questions : ZCar thread If it's helpful, we may want to consider "borrowing" a copy for the tech articles here !! Hey, anyone tried to scan in a FSM ?

Removed my aftermarket intake Cone Filter which goes into the Air Flow Meter (L28 EFI) and found it to be very dirty looked into the pipe it attaches too and feeds into the AFM and theres dust in there.. Car's running ok, but should i try and clean the AFM, since dirt must have gone in there... Whats the best way to do this? Thanks..

Hi I have 2 questions, 1. I'm doing an l28 f/i build on my 72. For dress up purposes, do i really need to have the injector cooler? At least i think thats what it is. It's the thing that looks like a turbo on the passenger side of then engine that blows air up and over the valve cover onto the intake manifold. I think it looks really ugly and i want to take it out. 2. I notice that most of the carb. engines have those valve cover breathers. Can they be used on the f/i engines as well? ...or does a hose need to be routed to the intake track. Right now i have one routed to the throttle body. Is this a good or bad idea. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My sons 81, 280 wouldn't start so I shorted across the relay and it started. It immediatly began running extreamly rich, missing wouldn,t rev beyond 3,000. The car didn't make it 1 mile before dying. I at first suspected the fuel pressure regulator and changed it. No luck. I then in the assumption that I damaged the computer changed it same result no luck still rich. The O2 sensor is fouled but seems ok and is not shorted out to ground. I am out of Ideas and do not want to just throw parts at it PLEASE HELP!!
