'Sup folks..I'm here to pick our collective brain again..What might be the major reason for the steering being so tight in my 74 260z..And how might I loosen it up a bit...Keep in mind that I haven't driven many sports cars and my might just be acting like a wimp..does it make sense to be looking for some sort of power assist kit..Once again I might be wimping..But does a kit like that even exist.. Thanks in advance Ak

Whats the consensus on the best trasmission or gear box to convert a an L28 into a 260z.. My attempt is to get a much smoother gear ratio...Right now the throws are short enough but it doesn't have that butter smooth feeling that I'm looking for..Any ideas..? Should I do a transmission rebuild or look for an aftermarket gearbox.. Ra

By chance does a 260z dashboard fit in a 240z? Along with seats?

Hi, I just got started on my first ever Z car, unfortunety it doesn't run for beans... yet. I was wondering though, would the carbs from a 71-72 240z run better on the L26 then it's stock carbs? I've got a 260z I'm swapping parts out of into a 240z. Is there a difference in the intake manifolds for the 240z and the 260z? I think I have the earlier model 260z if that makes a difference. Which would be best for power on the L26? I understand there is more displacement on the L26 but is it significantly heavier the the L24? I'm hoping to bring some life back to this L26 since it hasn't run in 10 years or so, and I figured changing out the carbs might be one of the thi…

Hi, I'm new to this board, and I've got a few questions (sorry if this is long!). I ran a couple of searches and found a few answers so far, but now I'd like to know: I have a '73 240z that needs a new clutch, I'd like to have a 5 speed tranny for better fuel economy, and I have a parts 280z. Is it worth attemting to swap? I know the 4 speed in the 240z is fine, but I'm not sure how the 280's 5 speed is, and my car is at the trans. shop now waiting for my decision. If you need more info please let me know! I guess what I'm asking is if it's even worth bothering changing the tranny (I've heard that the ZX trans. were the first 'real' 5 speeds), and what would be invl…

Just wanted to know if body parts for my 240Z; like the fenders, hood, and rear hatch can be swapped from 260Zs or 280Zs? Looks like the only difference are the emblems and the doors for 2 + 2 Zs. Just wanted an experienced Z person to either confirm or set me straight on what parts from a 260Z or 280Z can be swapped onto my 240Z. Thanks.

I was surfing some fellow 240Z owner's rides on the net, and found a couple that mentionned explicitly that they were using N36 manifolds with their original SUs. What's the big deal? Do these flow better? Thanks and Good Morning too BTW, -e

I, has my friends say, have the Z bug. I've had eight. Unfortunatly I know less about them than I'd like. My latest is a 1973 240z. It was purchased and then drove over 100 miles home. It ran little after that. After messing with it over and over again the decision was made to put a new engine in it. I have a wrecked 1981 280ZX in my driveway. So I pulled the L28, with P79 heads on it and cleaned off all the fuel injection crap. My plan is to rebuild it with the carbs on my 240z. Now the gentleman I bought the 240z from put double Webers on it. As these carbs seem to be in good working order I am going to reuse them. In addition I want to replace the 240z 4-speed with the…

I have '73 240z with a gas tank that has a few holes in it. I am about to go to the junkyard to look for one that is in better condition. I was wondering how much changed on the gas tanks and other body parts on the 70s Z cars.
