  2. Actually, the problem is that the web site is inconsistent. They do say that the Masterpeices are factory correct restorations. Then they say something different in the Museum. https://s30.world/masterpieces S30.world launches “The Masterpieces program” "A celebration of Nissans S30 platform A limited-run of factory-correct restorations of the iconic Datsun 240Z will become available, with the first one to be sold at auction in the United States on October 23rd 2025. This unique program is focused on the full, factory-accurate restoration of Datsun 240Zs, also known by the S30 chassis code, to a level of detail that makes them identical to how they left the production line over 50 years ago."
  3. I've realized what part of the problem might be. They don't actually show any "Restorations". They talk about the restoration process, and use the words "as they left the factory" or something like that, here and there on the site, but never actually say "here is a restored car". The Restorations sub-menu only shows Masterpieces, with Masterpieces, Icons and Heroes in the "museum". There is no Restored sub-menu. And they left some "outs" on the Masterpieces page. So, which is it - are Masterpieces restored or not? Can't tell from the ad copy. Highlights are mine. Overall, it looks like they do typical "get as close you can" restorations. Not "as they left the factory". Still looks like an exciting endeavor. Very interesting. The overpromising is the problem. Probably that marketing guy's fault. "Masterpieces S30s restored in detail. We are proud to have some of the first built LHD S30s in our collection. These include HLS30-00022 and 23, in addition several restored and unrestored 1969 produced S30s. We also brought to life some (as yet) unknown stars, such as cars with EU specifications and also with Portuguese specifications for living."
  4. Thanks a million, SteveJ. You've saved me hours of trying to track things down in various wiring harnesses. Now, I can just tap into the FLASHER wire coming out of the fuse box and activate the relays for the AC controls, the AC trinary switch (in the engine bay) and the two DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). I'll probably modify things to use the fog lamp wires to reach the DRLs. But, my goodness, there are a LOT of connectors coming out of the dash. I'm glad I have another '72 that's still together to use as a guide when my eyes get crossed trying to decipher the FSM wiring diagram. Does anyone have an idea of the location of that inline fuse for the electric fuel pump? I added a NISMO pump and it's hooked up to the appropriate wires on the rear of the body harness but I'd be well served to know where that fuse is... just in case.
  5. Find out and/or tell us which car is going up on BaT and let people go to town. It's going to happen anyway.

  7. The car that SpeedRoo was talking about is also in the Masterpieces "museum". Once again...
  8. Thank you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Winchell
  9. This is one of those examples of how your unstoppable urge to dominate leads you to make simple obvious errors. The car is in the "Masterpieces" section of the web site. Is it an error on the web designer's part? It's not supposed to be there?
  10. As one of the "old timers" who has restored to stock his share over the years - rooms, mine and those of my customers, full of first place trophies - and was a very early parts supplier to the owner of some Nissan/Renault dealerships in that part of the world I'm a bit scared to comment, might lose my head!! DC871F - Thank you. Somehow I'll squeeze your award into that room full of 1st place trophies
  11. Oh. I didn't realise that it was you who got to choose the current topic. Quite a responsibility. Good luck. Name some of these "old-timers" and show some examples of their work. This same dichotomy has been faced by anyone else who "restores" one of these cars. Even the elusive "old-timers" you mention will have been up against the logical impossibility to make something exactly as it left the factory. You have nowhere to go with this line of critique. It's a cul-de-sac. And by the way, pictures don't show "facts". You may well see things that confirm your convictions, but that does not make them 'fact'. Point of order. I could hear that penny dropping in your head from the other side of the Atlantic. Have you seriously only just cottoned on to that now? Sheesh. Wait 'til you realise who else on this forum is volunteering their time. You asked "Is it a paying position?". Answer is NO. "On the board?". Answer is NO. "Stock options?". Answer is NO. I have my own self-demarcated areas of interest and alleged 'expertise'* which I can potentially contribute to the cause, as do the other volunteers. That's it. But your questions imply that my motivations in sticking up for the work of the company in question are materialistic. They are not. What are yours for the opposite? Again, the cars you are pointing at are not part of the 'Masterpieces' program. Will it ever sink in? Will you sail blithely on by once again? Probably... Top marks for spotting a speeling mishtake. You won a Goldfish. It was only a few short weeks ago that you had simply no idea who or what S30.World is, and you were even calling into question whether their reproduction fuel tanks were a 'scam'. Now you're suddenly classiczcars' very own Walter Winchell. It's like somebody put some water in a bag of Sea Monkeys. QED.

  14. There is actually quite a bit on the S30.World web site. Fun to browse. There are stories. https://s30.world/collection/datsun-240z-hls30-00057-ca Can't wait to see which one comes up on BaT in three weeks. They should just disclose it now so people can look through the details on the web site. And how big is the "limited run"?
  15. Just having fun here! I came in second place in my third grade Spelling Bee contest. These things catch my eye. Somebody missed a detail on one of the Masterpieces presentations...
  16. So, here's more of the story. Didn't realize that HS30-H was "consulting" for S30.World. Is it a paying position? On the board? Stock options? Maybe it's been disclosed, but I don't recall seeing it. S30.worldS30.world - The platformThe platform

  18. @SteveJ
  19. herefore perhaps more interesting that initial North American market variants didn't get a rear bar. I guess they left it out because Americans like a different driving style, hence giving them a 4 speed and softer suspension to
  20. I know there was much more...

Got the foam and my vents now look like those in Patcon's pix above. Looks like good sealing all around (as much as can be expected considering you can't seal at the pivot points), yet, when I suck on the vent outlets, there is air sneaking past the seals. I guess I'll just have to see if it's annoying when the car is back on the road.
  22. I'm sure this info is buried in dozens of topics over the years, but I'm wondering is anyone has a list of all the items that become "hot" when the ignition is ON. I'm particularly interested in wires already within the engine bay so I don't have to run yet another wire through a new hole in the firewall. I'm pretty good at reading wiring diagrams but figuring out this info from my 1972 FSM or the laminated, color diagram I've gotten from www.classiccarwiring.com is quite another matter.
  23. Cleanest garage award goes to you.
  24. Thank you for that information. Yes last night i opened it up and found one of the spring contacts was missing entirely and the other one was severely bent. I attempted to create my own but was unsuccessful. Im going to take it apart again today to see if i can repair.
  25. The current topic is - do these relative "newbie" restorers have the same concept of what "restoration" means as the "old-timers". Is it okay to remove the things were there "as the car left the factory" and call the car "as it left the factory". In literal terms the answer would be no. The statement is not true. The facts shown in the pictures seem to clearly illustrate this. They are "perfecting" the cars by removing the idiosyncracies of the high volume manufacturing process. The things that give each car originality, and make them interesting to people that want to understand how the cars were made back then. There's nothing wrong with doing that, removing the "defects", they just need to clean up their marketing prose to give an honest representation of what they're doing. Their whole web site is kind of grandiose. That's the whole thing, summarized. My posts and links are meant to help understand who these newcomers are.
  26. The switch on top of the steering column has the power supply contacts for both the running lights and the headlights. Have you opened it up? Search "headlight switch" and "headlight switch hot" on the site and you'll probably find some good threads. The contacts get pitted and stop working, or the heat causes the solder joints to break.
