Also, This car has a factory radio delete plate. I have several in stock.

Early 72 on left and late 72 on right. These are examples of the ID plates Nissan commissioned me to reproduce for the program. Begs the question - when did "late" 72 begin? About 4 or 5/72, no one @ Nissan were willing to stick their necks out more than that. However, my experience backs that up.

Both of those plates are for 72, so it wasn't the very early cars. Maybe the GVWR wasn't increased for the car itself... Maybe they were increased for the change in American drivers. 😄

My suspicion is the lighter plate is for the very early cars. The later iterations were heavier

My '77 has that wide B like you're talking about and I got one out of a '79 2+2 that I put in my '72 and am really happy with it. Never use 5th around here but it's a game changer on the interstate roads.

I've driven the 240Z down to St George a couple of times for their Easter car show. I'd really like to find a wide ratio 5 speed. I thought the '78 280z had a 5 speed that 1 through 4 was the same as my 4 speed and the 5th gear was like overdrive.

I have a '22 Frontier Crew Cab that I thought was way too aggressive on it's shifting, especially at freeway speeds using cruise control with plenty of hills and valleys (I-15 from Ogden, UT to St George, UT, about 350 Miles, open road about 225 miles with speed limit 80MPH, the rest is 70MPH). Nissan did a reprogram of the transmission control unit and it's a night and day difference! And I really appreciate that Nissan did a 3.8L V6 N/A engine.

Yes. My (all?) Tacomas hunt for torque so they shift up and down. Super annoying. Forces me to have my foot in it a lot.

As opposed to what, the Tacoma ?

I understand that. What I was talking about is the 2 ID plates side by side which I guess are for the same car and the one on the right is like GVWR 420lbs heavier. If this is what the car weighs after it's been through the Nissan refresh I wonder what they did to increase the GVWR by 420lbs. From the pictures it wasn't the radio (that's gone) 😄

I had the weirdest accident! My truck was parked in my driveway. The instagram model across the street was parked in her driveway. Nobody in either truck. My daily is a 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road. Hers is a 1998 Ford Ranger. Her truck popped out of gear rolled out of the driveway, across the street, up my driveway and in to the front end of my truck. $3000 damage, all cosmetic. The only thing my wife says is “only you could get hit by a damned instagram model!” My rental is a Nissan Rogue. I am struck by how much better the transmission feels!

GVWR is gross vehicle weight rating. That should be the maximum weight with passengers and luggage/cargo.

Euro / JDM taillight wiring
The 72 FSM has the colors. In @kats connector it does not show a Br or BrW wire. It shows two GW. This may be the correct orientation:

Can anyone post up a JDM or Euro version of the wiring diagram for the tail lights to identify wire colors? @kats @jonbill @HS30-H

Wow! Did these restores actually increase the weight of the car by 420Lbs? Or is the right hand plaque in the picture for another car?

Almost forgot, it was officially the Z Store program.

This Z was in the first of 3 batches. As the program went on more reproduction parts needed for the program became available. In the meantime there was a lot of recycling.
