  3. Working on a biddies Z where his signals just stopped working all together. One day both blinked fine. Next day, nothing. No solid light or anything. Just move the wand and no signals. I checked and all the bulbs appear to be fine. I had a Beretta that did this once and I swapped out the signal thingie (technical name ya know) under the dash and they worked after that. Any thoughts?

Check these out with the caption "I am told they are the ones people want." This actually should go under the jokes section. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2400643082&category=33550

Well on my '73 here is what I did. I took off the manual pump and got a Purolater pump in the blue package from Pep Boys and mounted it in the rear. Holes matched exactly. A few rubber grommits insured that it would not vibrate. I then wired it up. After that I wired up a ful cutoff switch and installed it. Then I had the means to turn off the pump and also added security.
  6. Not cool. I was laughing and Pepsi shot out of my nose. Ouch!

Weekends are difficult. I work for SprintPCS and therefore have to work on the weekends. I'll have to check and see if I can get some time off here and we shall see. Working 55 hour weeks kinda sucks.

So while spray paining my carport, I somehow got some over spray and got some paint mist to fly over my car. Yeah I'm pissed but I suppose it could have been worse. So now I have little paint spots misted all over the car. Each is about the size of a pin drip (About the size of the period on my keyobard here) and they are spread out maybe two or three inches from each other. I want an easy method to remove them. The paint on the car is decent but I had not waxed in a while. Any thoughts?
  9. One of the best one bumper stickers I sw the other day: "My other ride is your Mom."
  10. We all get the urge sometimes, but its nothing a cold shower won't fix. Yeah, I'm not immune. I usually hate the little ricey Hondas but I saw a CRX the other day that looked good. Maybe because it was not overdone, which is the norm for these cars. But then I get in my Z and everything is okay again. Yep, I need a completly new suspension and the ball joints are shot. But it runs and gets 22mph which is okay.

Funny I should have seen that coming..
  12. Depending how it runs and how it looks, I'd say $1000 UP. Consider what it is worth to you first. I've seen 280ZX's that were worth $5k easy.

How about a hybrid B-C? I am technically a 'B' but my neighbors still fear me.
  14. I wonder if something like that is available in the United States?
  15. Typically one goes fast by pressing the petal on right all the way down. Okay just messing with you. Oh come on, you had that one coming. Blower on a stright 6? Um, sure; why not? But honestly there really is so much you can do wih a Z. Before you start modding like a mad dog, you need to ask yourself what you want to do with the car. Race only? Smoke Hondas all the time? Or do you want a daily driver with some zip? Bottom line, you can put all $8K in the straight six and there will still be Hondas somewhere that will take you. Or you might consider a V8 swap. If so, go to www.hybridz.org and, believe me, they have great advice. If you want to simply enjoy your Z and still have a little meat under the hood, consider putting a L28 in it from a '75-83 280ZX. Plenty of online help and its more or less a drop in swap. IMHO, I believe you will enjoy the L28 more and still get performance out of it.
  16. Here is what I have heard. Take it for what it is worth because I have honestly tried very little. The physical size of the doors should be the same. But the mechanism inside the doors might not be. Later model 280Z had a differnt locking mechanism. I was helping a friend with his 240Z a few years ago and we had to take the doors off. When we went to put them back on, I put (by mistake) on of my old 280Z doors on I had next to the house. It was obvious it was not the door from the color, but we became curious and tried it. It bolt on alright but didnt want to shut. We took it off ad put the correct door on. I imagine the later model 280Z have a diffent door striker mechanism also. Bottom line, it might work but check out the striker at the junk yard and get both if you can.

Well if the 2nd part of my advice didn't work, just make certain and follow the first part of my advice on how to properly shoot your car.
  19. Well its no wonder, I mean; you do live in Australia after all. :classic:
  20. Personally I think that because the car gets hurt itself that it takes a certain degree of satisfaction in hurting me back.
  21. So it a nutshell, I wanted to replace my truck mirrors with something a little more sportscar like. The mirrors on my '75 280Z really are not truck mirrors, but from the inside look like it. I missed the cool mirror my 240Z had. I shopped all over and finally found some that looked very much like my old black 240Z mirrors, complete with the 'accordian' rubber parts. So my mirrors have been sitting in the respective boxes for a few months waiting to be installed. I finally had a few hours to burn and decided to tackle it. So after removing the old mirrors, I find that the new mirrors have different brackets. No problem, just need to remove the old brackets and install the new ones. Fast forward three hours. I am still working on the passenger side. I have completly disassembled the door and am trying to remove the locking nuts on the screws that hold the old bracket down. Finally got them removed and the new bracket installed. Put the door togther and went to put my mirror on. It would not go on! I looked and sure enough, I had mounted the bracket on upside down!! So after I repeated the above on both the passenger door and the driver door, I now have new mirrors on my Z. And it only took me 10 hours total. Yeah, I know. I would never make it as a mechanic.
  22. So after only 2 hours I successfully managed to swap out the Temp/Oil guage light, the Fuel/Amp guage light, and the clock light (although I am not certain why because it does not work). Somehow I managed to crush a old bulb in my hand and got blood in my dash. Fortunatly I didnt stain anything.
