  1. Well said and a good advice, but I might use the car as a dayly driver this summer, so was my point for asking that. And yes, I usually check my oil level on my Sentra SE once a week, but I guess I will have to be more careful with my baby Z.
  2. Thank you gentlemen. As soon as the snow is gone, I will run a compression test on the engine. The guy who is sellingme the car told me it was not bad for the smoke... Got to see it for myself 1st.
  3. Here is my concern. My Z will need a valve seals job. I got 2 options in my head. 1. Is it better to replace the valve seals and check the timing chain at the same time. I may have the valves cleaned at the same time, I mean remove the carbon deposit on them right? 2. I may have a real deal on a used head from a 73 240 I think. Is it better to put a head with less mileage on my engine or what else? And BTW, what is the difference between a E87 and an E88 head? Thanks for your CONSEILS!!!!! What would you do?
  4. Another question. Is the gauge on the dashbord acurate? What should be the reading?
  5. Obe Wan Kenobe taught you well young Skywalker! message received!! One more thing to add to my list!
  6. So nobody elses got numbers for a stock engine, smog pump removed? Thanks guys!
  7. Just trying to get a base line for my future inspection. I'm building my file for the spring inspection. The engine is all stock, no mods made on it. Thanks for your help! Guy;)
  8. Can someone give the range of compression acceptable that I should get on an engine with 93 000 miles on it? Whait is the compression for a new engine? Merci!
  9. Hi. My name is Guy, 33, no child, one cat and I'm from Montreal Canada. I'm an ex geography teacher recycled in ballistic training for FORENSIC TECHNOLOGY INC. of Montreal www.fti-ibis.com I'm on my way to have my first 240Z 1972 and I own a Sentra Se2001. Do not like cold weather, was born at the wrong plce, stuck in Mtl cos my GF will lost her insurance job if we move... Waiting desperately for srping and summer to come!
  10. Go for : Tokico shocks absorber Eibac springs Urethane bushings for lower arm and sway bar You might want to try and look at this site: http://home.worldonline.nl/~zzxnl/links.htm Sel Tak! Good chance!
  11. Cooooooollll! I went in Norway on holiday last october after having spent 4 weeks in Denmark for my job. Country is beautiful, and the fjords, OMG!!!!! Bergen is so nice also! Glad to know that there is a Z in Norway!!! Nice car BTW!
  12. Ok Royce. I did saw the car before Chritsmas, it is parked inside a nice heated garage. Car is flawlwess regarding the body, it was one of the best preserved Z from Ontario. It belonged to the president of the Z Club if Toronto. No rust, and there is still the small rubber seal in the fuel filler hatch! Interior is OK, a small crack in the top center of the dash. Car has uretahne bushings all over, steering rack as well, larger sway bar, Tokico and Eibac, plus a performance 2,5" exhaust line. Car was well maintained, and I can't wait anymore to hear the engine. Like the guy told me, between each gear change, if you follow the car, there is a small amount of blue smoke that comes out.... But thanks all of you for the nice tips, it"s appreciated , espeacilly from a newbie Z:sleep: Picture is available at this link: http://www.npclub.com/bb/showthread.php?threadid=845
  13. Merci for the tip! I'll shop around before, got plenty of time before the snow goes away....
  14. Go see that and enjoy!!! jouissif!!!! http://www.ksurf.net/~jb_ce_heros/240z.mpeg The same against a Kawa 1000... http://www.ksurf.net/~jb_ce_heros/240ZvsR1.mpeg
  15. Thanks Steve. The car I'm looking to buy is selling for 13 500$ CND (around 7 250$US). The car was damaged by vandalism before but was extremely well restored. Many panels were punched with a sledgehammer and windows broken as well. Car as Eibac srpings, urethane bushings, Tokico shocks, and 93 000 miles on it. Got a performance exhaust line also, no headers or mods made on the engine. Saw the car, felt in love with it, but afraid of paying too much. But the car has no rust what so ever on it.. a miracle in Montreal Canada... So the price is in consequence I guest.. I'll see this spring...
  16. No chance ZMan.. I already checked, nothing...

  21. Ok, merci! I did order the book that was in the review section, Golden age I think. I'm waiting for it!
  22. Ok, but I will not put it back... We do not need to pass smog test here in canada, and the car is too old for that BTW!!!! :tapemouth
  23. Yep, that's what I'm gonna do as soon as the snow disappear... A good mechanical inspection is a must, nut the owner is kind of nervous, because he did not want to change his price on the car... 7500$US, is what he wants... I agree on this price, and gavve a 750$ deposit, but my final move will be after the inspection.... and I think he does not like that.. Damn, I should have wait, but I do want so much this car... I don,t want to look like a fool, cos a lot of guys from the ZOOM Club in Montreal told me that I was paying to much for this car..... The seller has another 240Z stripp do the metal but with a new paint, and he needs $$$ to finish that project.... 75F you we're saying... Dman, need to leave canada definitely and move south....!!!
  24. Ok, here is what I was able to gather form the previous onwer.. He told me that the car was caughing a blue puff of smoke each time he was shifting the car.. So, is it the valve seals or the rings or worn valves? help me!
  25. Thanks so lut dude! Yes, this is why I call it white $^!#.. no offense to the 240z users, but I was born in the wrong place..
