Hi all, last weekend there was a great rallye for "youngtimers/classics" with 72 participants (Porsches, 2 Stratos, Renault Alpines ...). The one and only 240Z team, the belgian team Casier/Eggemont finished in pos.53 after 2 tough days. The pic shows them on a special stage on rainy Nurburgring Rolf

I saw a Ferrari Daytona kit on a 280ZX in an US advertising as well as Cobras and even a Cobra Daytona Coupe. I thought myself about adapting a 240Z to a Ferrari 250 SWB shape. I think this is not very difficult but in the end I decided for me that the original japanese design is the best. Nevertheless the SWB idea is still challenging. Rolf

Just a Z carguy, in my gallery you can see in 1:18 the black Z from Sun Star, an orange Sun Star Z that is supered by Bburago's Jag E-Type rims and that got the side window frames painted in black (because the Sun Star's window proportions are IMO too small) and a Kyosho. This is the better 1:18, but more expensive. I personally love my orange one. Rolf

Hi all, Sean mentioned the inner fender section. I got an inner front fender protection for my 240 Z made of alloy with rubber seals from a producer in Finland who sells these here via an agent. You can see this protection in my gallery. I also made protections cut to size behind the rear wheels to protect the gap between the lower rear fender and the fuel tank. Some Z have this originally. A similar part I made for the other side and cut out the silhouette of the rear muffler. Into the doors, on to all inner fendersi, into all frames and all other hollow spaces I blew with an air compression gun at first 2 times an anti-rust fluid and some days later 3 times hot vaseline (acid free one !). Vaseline kreeps into all gaps when warm and protects the metal. To speed up that kreeping process I used an hot air gun.I also used Vaseline to close the little gaps that 2manyZ mentioned. Another place where rust appears quite often is underneath the front window's upper rubber seals. Sean, take care of that area before painting the car when the windows are out. Don't forget to take care of the area between the tank and the spare wheel. If you don't want to take out the tank press at least anti-rust and vaseline between these parts. Are shure that the vaseline is acid free or it will attack all rubber ! Rolf Rolf

Fred, the finnish protections are made from alloy with rubber trims. They are not that expensive that it would make sense to develop a moulding for plastics. The big advantage of alloy is that you can twist. cut and bend it until it suits best. It wiil not burst and it can't rust. Concerning Zutopia I read your conversation . I don't know how much the german Z&ZX Club (Sean has got the adress) would be engaged. Personally I have two hearts beating in my brest: On the one side I mainly agree with Alan to make it a classic Z meeting mainly, on the other hand - depending on how far to drive for a meeting - I would prefer to go there with my more conveniant 300 ZX and I would not be interested to drive that on a race track, exept perhaps Nuerburgring. But I like the idea to meet as many of this "Classic Z club's european members as possible personally - and their Zs. In that case I would think about a long ride with my 240 Z, too. Fred , in one thread you and Sean discussed inner fender protections. Please look into the gallery for my pictures. I think it is the last pic on my 2nd page that shows the inner front fender protections that are available from a finnish producer. If you need more info let me know. Rolf

Fred, here in Germany we can only get unleaded fuel . I drive my 240Z and our 280 ZX for years now unleaded without problems, I only changed the ignition timing a little bit a n d I always use an additive whenever I fill unleaded gas at the station. No problems !!! Rolf

Fred, as far as I know it was a kit made by a company called Vestastec. I still have the ZX front spoiler - as on the picture below the "lightful" bumper - and a rear spoiler (both for sale, by the way) from that company. The car belongs to Mr. Thomas Theimer.
