How much are wheels worth?
Like all things in this world, they're only worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them. Take a good picture of the wheels and post it here with any relevant information that you may find on them - casting #s, size, words, letters, etc. Like Victor said, if they have the JWL mark on it, it's definitely Japanese. If we can see exactly what you have, we can give you a better estimate of what they MAY be worth.

Two Low-VIN 1970 240Zs on Ebay
CURE: Move to a place where they have "yard police" that enforce the rules of living there (no derelict cars, no fixing cars, no parking on the street, yard, or driveway . . . . ) that is located AT LEAST 3 hours away frrom any industrial area where you could rent warehouse space and make sure that the warehouse space is either unavailable or horribly high. I guarantee this will cure your addiction. But you will go through serious withdrawals and may just end up in a mental institution . . . . . or worse.:surprised

240K Sedans for sale EBAY
In his vocabulary, "upgrade" seems to refer to years and not technical or mechanical aspects. Some people just don't get it.

My KGC10-R Engine.
Jim, The car is mostly unmolested. The engine is stock, save for headers (extractors) and a Fujitsubo exhaust system. The head work is going to include a mild cam re-grind from 62 to 64 degrees for better low end. I have the twin SUs that will be going in later. Other than that, no plans. You`re right that most of these cars have had the 2.8 transplant with triple webers. But the hot set up now is the 2.6 RB transplant. Will wait and see what comes after the head work.

Finally
Seriously think about it. Go take a look at it. Be objective. Don't get emotional. There are other cars out there. I looked at one car - the price was right and it was in good condition, the owner was a mechanic type. Problem? Missing little parts here and there and four holes in the trunk lid where a spoiler was mounted. Passed. Second car - I bought it (see my avatar). Repainted original condition car. Lightly molested with headers, exhaust and wheels. To date, I have spent a ton of money on this little monster. Exhaust system blew up. Had to put in a new exhaust system from the headers back. Replace the 4 speed transmission with a 5 speed and new clutch (the clutch, by the way, was worn down to the rivets). Full brake job - shoes, pads, flex lines, master cylinder and vacuum booster (brakes, by the way, were worn down to 2mm of material). Now getting a head job to cure the oil burning due to worn valve seals. 5 new tires - yes even the spare was dry-rotted with hundreds of little cracks in them. Suspension is next - shocks, struts, ball joints, tie rod ends, and a few other things. My car was in good condition. Only has 98,000 km on the clock. I'm only doing "regular" maintenance. Go see my gallery for pictures. Think long and hard . . . .

Another way to date code your Z...
Kats' post brings to mind the ongoing debate about children and abortion. When exactly is the car born? When the parts are made? When it starts down the assembly line? Or when it is completed at the end of the assembly line? Even at 03/70, there were 31 days in March. Which day? I don't think we will ever know exactly . . . . just approximately.

05L head L20A
Keep the L20A in case you want to go back to stock. If not, there's always eBay. Like Montoya says, L20As are fairly scarce in the USA. So . . . . that means one of two things: it's rare and people will pay a lot for it (or) nobody knows what it is and it worth nothing.

My KGC10-R Engine.
Glad to hear that you've got your motor sorted out. Mine is still in the shop. 5 weeks! Don't know when I'll be getting it back . . . . The head is being overhauled because it's burning oil.

ebay item number 4630016167
I'm thinking about bidding on it too, but then, I might win. How would I ever get it here to Japan? Shipping costs probably be more than the winning bid. No VIN plates makes it a parts car, in my book.

Off to Paint!!!
AWC - Yellow, yellow, yellow. . . . I think I used 1975 Chevy Corvette Yellow on my 1988 Toyota Corolla GTS. Anyway, it was Corvette Yellow. Nice job Tri-Star

need help with body/paint work
Doesn't matter what you use, if it's not done right, it will be bad news. I've seen lead solder jobs that were up to a half-inch thick butted up against and covering the rusted panels. Yup, you guessed it, the steel was rusting because the prep work wasn't done right and all that solder was being pushed up by the rust underneath. My advice to you is to find a good shop and ask for references. my 2 cents

Hello from Germany
This might be expensive, but I used the ZTherapy alternator. Works great!

Just picked up a Fairlady!
Actually, you don't need to learn how to read Japanese. Most of this stuff is in katakana (phonetic characters) and it's just a matter of deciphering what they're referring to. ボンネット is bonnet, which is British English for hood. Any good bookstore has a hiragana/katakana chart. hehehehehehe . . . .

wohoo!!! finally
Not really, but she was not happy with the long laundry list the first time. But it was more at me than you - I neglected to say "please" and "thank you." I know better now! Only if you can sell them here in Japan or downunder in OZ. Take a look at Japan Yahoo and see what the S30 stuff is going for - you could retire today!
-
Camber?
Japan Yahoo ads usually say that they fit C10 and C110, and sometimes S30 as well. eBay sellers say 510 and Z. Maybe they fit all the bigger Nissan cars of the era. Mass-production parts bin saves money. Gotta do some research in the parts manuals . . . . .

How Many Triple webbers have you seen on a 280z?
Three side drafts - normal. How about three IDFs?

Ztherapy S.U. conversion
I bought the whole kit too. Still in the box though. Yes, new gaskets, hoses, new or replated linkage and springs.
-
wohoo!!! finally
Yeah, stayed up all night watching the thing and bidding. Now we wait until it gets here and then ship all the stuff off to the intermediary shipper who will send to to Oz. Clean up my house too - starting to look like an upscale wrecking yard - no bodies, but lots of parts.
-
Camber?
Offhand, I'd say the price and shape are the only differences. They both seem to be made for your car and it's basically the same part. Talk to Kent, I got him a set a month or two ago. I'm getting a set for my car one of these days . . . .

Wats on EBay
Yeah, Looks exactly like mine except that mine are straight, no rash, no bends, etc, etc, etc. Go look for 15 inch wheels. 14 inch tires are getting hard to find . . . .

Car Valuation...jusut curious
FWIW: I paid just short of 12K for my Skyline and have sunk close to 7K into it since. Mind you, these are just for maintenance and repairs, not go-go things. My mechanic says that I have a great car and he's seen Skylines going for 20k with a lot more problems than mine has (rust, etc). I say if you're happy with what you got for what you paid, then nothing else matters.

In need of ball joint removal tool...
My pickle fork is a PROTO, but sometimes, the 5lb sledge hammer works fine by itself. A couple of whacks on the ball joint, an it just pops out.

16" Watanabe's on 240K
Alan, Most of the Kanto area - Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagagwa are good hunting grounds for parts, parts shops, and tuning shops. Sometimes, at seemingly bargain prices! But they tell me that the cars are best found in the southern (Kagoshima, Osaka) and northern (Aomori, Misawa) areas. I guess in the countryside you have the space to keep an old car storaged in an enclosed garage.

Parts Cleaners
My friend had a really cheap solution: 30 gallon galvanized steel trash can and Simple Green. Worked like a charm . . . every time. I can't remember if he used it straight or diluted a bit.
