Triple Mikuni thread
Enjoying this spectacular fall weather and an engine that is running really well. My Mikunis have been really good to me and parting will be really tough. It's really a cool feeling when you open the hood for someone and they say - DAM! The fall weather means one last jet change for me . Time to increase the mains a size . Might go back to the dyno ( a different one) for one last pull. Still don't buy the last results . Ready to move on to FI , but don't want to take my car down for a minute. I've been driving it to work( 50 miles) lately just to drive it. But I will never be able to move on unless I say good bye to these. Might need to take another video too. Wish I had the money to make them wall art, but rather share them with another Z . Hopefully see them on a car in a show someday with that funky airbox !!

[2016] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
I swapped out my broke d*** t5 for a good used t5 . I can now shift 1st to 2nd like I meant it. Then I just drove around like a happy camper ! Engine is running so good right now and the Mikunis are asking for bigger jets- so I better get on it. :-0

Dyno day with the 260Z
Thanks Leon, doing the data mining on this stuff I've also stumbled across some of Bryan Blakes posts . He squeaked out the .022 number , but reluctantly . It's not a number you want to get wrong putting these engines together and could lead to some crashing. A 1mm gasket is a special order in most cases and 1.25mm is about the norm. .017 sounds about right for STOCK piston height and so the shave got you just where you want with a .049 gasket.

Dyno day with the 260Z
Not to be annoying , but are sure the Nissan gasket was 1mm ? I'm thinking a 1.25mm was used and your clearance is more like .022. Like you said , lots of misinformation out there , so wanted to be sure that's the case.

Dyno day with the 260Z
Leon, was the block surfaced at some time? I'm surprised pushing the clearance that tight when a 1.25mm gasket would have still been good squish . so looking forward to my 54/47 set up.

Finding exhaust fume sources
I did the smoke machine and vacuum trick .I glued a plastic layer over the opening and then installed panel . If you look at the hatch latch assembly you can see daylight right into the hatch area( panel off). For me - this was the majority of the issue

Finding exhaust fume sources
Been running without a bumper my whole Z life. You still have to address all the other possible leaks because you still have a low pressure situation with the windows down. For me- the big one was the hatch . Low pressure in the cockpit caused enough vacuum to pull exhaust in through the latch assembly and around the edges of the hatch inner vinyl panel . My exhaust is almost flush with the rear valence and I rarely get a wiff of exhaust. I think if the exhaust tips were a bit further out it would eliminate anything from getting back into the car. I think the exhaust tip length is NOT the major issue though

Finding exhaust fume sources
Smoke machine worked for me!! Windows down causes a vacuum inside the car and will pull any smells back in the car. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Tach Adapter
Add the note that it took a while to get mine to work. I had to wire directly into the plug in the back of the tach . Wiring further down stream would not work- too many detours in the wiring ? I almost gave up and thought it wouldn't be that hard to pull the tach and wire the adapter directly . Tach has been flawless . Wish my speedo worked as well- Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

280Z EFI parts and turbo manifold
Too bad - looks like a MegaSquirt and some wiring and you were there. I did the same exact thing to my intake or I would be making an offer. Nice looking turbo exhaust manifold! good luck

So did that sway bar come with downlinks ? It's hard to tell how it is secured . I had a hell of a time fitting mine because of my CV axles. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Hidden FI in DCOE carbs
Don't forget about your fuel supply system. Now your talking high pressure system that will require upgraded fuel lines that have a more substantial return line. So you need a bigger pump, a place to put it , lines to supply and return it. Power to the pump if you don't really have an electric pump now - which should really involve a relay. Then you can move on to the ECU installation . not trying to slight this product- I think it's great and considered the OER version myself. I've been in the process of the carb to FI conversion and it is involved - just so you know
