My 280Z looks like crap but I still get a lot of positive comments. Getting gas is almost always a long process and when I park it in public I often get a note asking if I want to sell. Here in the rust belt, most Datsuns are long gone so even a ratty one like mine stands out. I can only imagine how much attention it'll attract once I finish redoing the car to my standards.

It's a grounding issue. No switch is going to make one bulb dimmer than any others.

I'd be interested if you make a MegaSquirt pnp harness to put a turbo L28 into my '75 280Z.

I don't think that the bumpers are worth much. I tried to sell mine for a long time before I scrapped them. The rubber surrounds are a different story and are worth quite a bit if they are in good condition.

Have you ever thought of having people send you their harness and you do all the work and ship it back to them? Might be worthwhile to some people.

Check all the connections under the hood. My '75 would act up periodically from no starts to running very badly. Turns out all the electrical connections under the hood were corroded badly. I spent the day with contact cleaner, a nail file and some dielectric grease and it runs great now.

They only do that when their feet are clipped into the pedals. The rest of us crazy bike riders wear normal shoes and we can put our feet down when we come to a stop.

I just parted out a '75 280Z and the ECU had a sticker on it that said that it was a performance version done by an aftermarket company. It's now buried in my garage so I can't find it to take a picture and I never did plug it into my good '75 280Z to see if it made a difference. Maybe in the spring.

I worked at a dyno shop a few years back and a guy put triples on his otherwise stock 280Z and came for some pulls. His numbers were worse than my stock EFI 280Z. The lesson that I learned was that if you don't do a bunch of other upgrades, carbs alone will not give you more power. Personally, I'm going with a turbo swap which should get me past 200 hp without too much work.

Great info. What about flywheels? I have a stock '75 280Z with four speed manual and I want to install a five speed manual with a turbo flywheel as part of a turbo swap. How does this change things?

I have a '77 parts car and it does not have a sloped deck like that. I've never seen one like it either.

You must have a late 260Z if they don't fit. Not problem. There's a guy that was selling prefabbed conversion brackets on Ebay a while back and that's where I bought a set for my 280Z. I have not actually bolted the bumpers on but a trial fit by hand showed that they will work fine. I don't remember the cost for the set but it was cheaper than me spending my time to make something.

We should get together. I'm also in Pittsburgh and have an auto '82 ZXT donor for a swap into my '75 280Z.
