If you want to try running a 1" sway bar.....go for it! Unless you want a pristine period correct Z, do what you must to install the bar. You will most likely notice an improvement with corner turn-in responce and a bit flatter overall cornering. Tom

VEG-O-MATIC wheels!!? They slice, they dice, they even cut off the fingers of curious kids. Have the weeds in your driveway become out of hand? No problem...VEG-O-MATIC wheels will clear the way :stupid: Tom

Sounds like a personal problem TomoHawk! They're just kids trying to be cool. Certainly they don't meet your approval, and lord knows they should have checked with you first before blinging their ride out!!! I'm sure every generation has its differences....but the fact of the matter is, these kids dig cars! OK, they don't meet your standards....but since when did you become the marque by which all must comply? I would guess that there have been times when some of these kids have seen you in your Z and said....Yo dude, check out the figgin geek in the Z!!! Enough said.:dead:

I think the guy is hoping he gets lucky!!! From the general look and condition of the Z, I would bet this Z has many of the usual issues we have all encountered! Just because it has an RB engine and paint that looks pretty good in a photo plus the incompleteness of it all doesn't in my book qualify as a $15K car. At $15K the car should be complete and looking percfect.....so basically, I think this guy is a dreamer! Tom P.S. Anyone want to buy my 1970 240Z for $25,000.00????
  5. Mikey, It doesn't appear to me that the quaulity of this artwork is anywhere near the quaulity you have done previously...at least what I saw on the link you posted. Just my 2 cents worth! Tom

  9. I would be interested. Your artwork looks pretty good and the price seems right. However, can't comment on what I can't see! Tom
  10. I quess the point here is to keep your Z in top running order and you won't need any tools when your out and about. Sorry Tomohawk, but thats just my perspective on the subject!
  11. My tool kit consists of.............a cell phone!!!
  12. duffman, IIRC there are people who can repair scratches in wind shields! I don't know any specific name but remember seeing adds to that nature. They generally come to your car and do it on site. So, save that early rear window! Tom

Interesting little car....saw my first one in Germany a few years back. I visited their website to see what the Americanized version would cost.....holly smokes $25K !!!!? 60 hp in a 1588 lbs car.....I guess it could get out of it's own way, just not very quickly! The thing has got to get really good gas mileage, I suspect. As I remember, you can turn your head, look out the rear window, and see the ground and rear bumper at the same time.....shoot, you could see a mole on the face of a California tailgater at that distance!!!:nervous: Tom

If you've never attempted this exercise, you may want to take it to a good automotive type upholstery shop and let them do it. The price they charge you will likely be less than what you are looking forward to if you F the install up. Just a suggestion! Tom
  15. Tomohawk, I'm not certain but, IIRC the difference between the advance curves on a MT and AT distributors are in the mechanical advance mechanisms...not in the vacuum advance pot. Tom
  16. Gary's info is sound advise! A while back someone raised a similar question about their newly installed 2 1/2" exhaust system and wanted some input on reducing the resonance at around 2K to 2.5K. I suggested installing, as Gary also mentioned, a glass pack type muffler shortly after the header collector. The muffler I suggested is the small and farely short race type muffler....available from Summit Racing. Basiclly no restiction but resulted in significantly reducing the resonance.
  17. Adam, I think your best bet, to avoid damaging the new paint, would be to use flat washers. If you are concernd about maintaining the torque on the fasteners you might want to visit the website I posted, just so you will feel good about using flat washers. Believe me, I understand your desire to keep the new paint unblemished! Happy hunting! Tom
  18. For anyone that is seriuosly interested in learning more up to date information on lock washers and locking devices should visit the following website.(www.boltscience.com/pages/vibloose.htm) It provides a clear expalination on how these devices work. And John, I always respect your knowledge and input but this time I believe you need to update yourself on lock washers. Technically speaking lock washer lock via adding friction to prevent lossening of a fastener...not by spring force as you suggest.
  19. Either split or star type lock washers do their locking job by bighting into the surfaces they bear against. If you add a nylon washer between the lock washer and the bearing surface, painted surface in this case, then the lock washer will not bight....unless of course it penitrates the nylon washer, in which case you have defeated the purpose of put a nylon washer on to begin with. Lock washer do not lock via providing outward pressure!
  20. Using a nylon washer, as mentioned earlier, pretty much negates a bolt's ability to maintain a torque setting, since the washers are of a relatively soft material. Again, if used in an area requiring low torque specs you're probably fine. Applying a small dab of low strength Lok-Tite on the threads is also a recommendation.

My take on RICERS! Certainly another niche for car enthusists. Sure some of there rides look funny to some of us but, one thing is for sure...they are at least into cars! Maybe this Ricer thing is similar to the generation gap thing....anyone with some age knows what I'm refering to! Most of them are just young kids with little $$$ and probably less knowledge about cars but, they know they need a trick looking car to be cool. So lets be a little more understanding about the Ricers. Who knows, they may one day mature into folks like use...... Besides, some of their cars are quite entertaining to see and listen to. Consider it free entertainment. Being different than the status-quo always brings on resistance.
  24. I'll second Chris's comment!!! All I will say is...if anyone is trying to educate themself on the early Z car, your learning curve will greatly be reduced by using the wealth of info on this site.....I know from first hand experience when redoing my 1970. Tom
  25. You can take the old O-ring to a local hydraulics shop and they can match it up!
