I received an update on the progress on the restoration from Les today. He said that the car is stripped and ready for the stripping and body work to begin. He is gathering all of the suspension parts for powder coat and building a correct late model B box 4 speed transmission. He is getting ready to detail the engine, (no need for rebuild it is fresh). He was asking if I wanted the smog equipment put back on the car. I have mixed feeling on that, please share you thoughts. We are talking about coating the bottom of the car with a product similar to that used by Mercedes and then color matching it to the car. Not stock but I believe it will be an improvement. He promises photos soon, can’t wait!!! I will share them as soon as I get them.

Will, and all others which have found this thread interesting, I should be getting some pictures from Les soon. As the car progresses through the restoration I will keep all up to date on this thread and try to fill in some of the blanks of the "missing 30 years" in the odyssey of my 1972 Z.

#513 (10/69) For sale in Las Vegas
I was in contact with the seller he said the car has rust at the rear of the rockers and some metal pop riveted over some other areas by previous owner. He has said he would take less than the $3000 in the area of $2500. I’m just to far away to check it out and make a move to purchase.

New Hot Wheels 240Z
The number 36 indicates that the Z car is the 36th, (first edition), new car (not variation) out of 38, (first editions), new cars to be released for 2006. Variations create an additional market for collectors to have to buy the same car to complete a set of 2006 first editions. My youngest son was into collecting them for a couple of years starting back in 1998. Thank goodness that didn't last but a couple of years. Then there are series cars, each series consisting of 4 cars and a series released each month (48 cars). Then there are past years first editions painted in different schemes each year. The regular hotwheel collectors are fanatics! I could tell you some stories about the hotwheel fanatics, but they are so crazy you wouldn't believe them.:hurt:

My 240z (die-cast) was kidnapped!
This is below low. Just a suggestion, get a hold of your friends toothpaste and inject xylacine (not sure of spelling) into the end of the tube. Then after he brushes his teeth and his face starts going numb convince him he is having a stroke. It works we have used it at the fire station. Next, if you can get into his attic just above his the head of his bed put a empty plastic container with a small (coffee stir) straw through the ceiling into the container about an inch above the bottom of the container sealed with wax where it comes trough the container. In the evening fill the container with ice. In the middle of the night the ice will melt and when the water gets high enough to break the vacuum in the straw it will rain down cold water on his head. :devious: (another fire station prank)

New Hot Wheels 240Z
For those :cheeky: crazy hotwheel collectors the yellow one is called a variation. There was one on ebay last night bringing $27.00 +. They (hotwheel collectors) believe that variations are accidents. Right!!!
