Mr Mire, Sorry can't answer your question, but what is a terra probe, thats not a "curb feeler" is it?:tapemouth All kidding aside what is that

Hear ya Ed, I drilled out (all the way through) the floor pan support rails to get the support off. I knew that I would get a new floor pan and would only have to plug weld. That was the quickest route. That dang spot weld cutter was a pain!!! I have found though that I'm not too bad with an open spot weld hole and a copper pipe as back up. I can make those look decent. My stitch welding, well thats another story!! You know you guys make this somewhat fun, thanks!!

Hey all, just went through the same thing and had a lot of the same results. Its amazing how an entire floorpan can be shot, but fixed fairly quickly and with OEM type parts. I tried to get Charlie Osbourne to make the battery tray area, said good english wheel guys are dying off too fast!! Couple of notes from my experiences. Had the same effects as Victor. The easy to get to spot welds weren't any trouble, the ones where the drill wouldn't fit were a B%$#. Ended up chewing some out that will require some weldiing up before putting the tray back in. I used the spot weld cutters that have a pilot spike in the middle. Those things went all over the place. Even by center punching a dimple it was still hard to keep those things on track. As Kenny stated , I chewed up a bunch of cutting heads. I think the cutter with the drill bit in the middle is my next choice. Even if a small hole goes through, quick blast of the mig and grinder is easy. Makes a better cut IMO. For replacement of the area(mine is just the size of Victors) I took some heavy tin foil and folded, mashed, squashed it into the area until I had the outline of the panel I needed. I have tried the card board cut outs with mixed results. The tin foil molds easily to the area you want. For the replacement panel I used an old fender(the one with the bad front qtr) and laid the tin foil over the "crown" of the fender. This curve is real close to the curve of the area near the frame rail. A little bending, maybe with a sandbag and mallet, will get you where you need to be. I need to rebuild some of the engine side edge of the battery tray, shouldn't be too hard. Hope this helps.

Boy we sucked!!! Go Seahawks. Before the panthers I was a Green Bay guy, so guess I have to go with Holmgren. Man, we looked like crap. Should have taken tomorrow off!!!

Sorry to display such non-Z related material, but couldn't help it. Hope the Seahawks are out thinking about their Seahawk Z's and not the gameROFL GO PANTHERS

  10. Doesn't that just wizz you off Ben. All the work you've been doing, get to take it out on a date and have fun and then that. Sounds like you are over it, thats good. No reason to stress. My brother in law lives there and always talks about open minded progressiveness . At least we hicks know how to use the toliet, well at least the one outside!! Dave, your run in with the drunk might have pushed me into "postal mode"

Lachlan, sounds like you guys had a good time. Rainy days in the garage with other Z buddies working on your baby. I think thats what I'm going to do today. Need to go pick up some refreshments first!!! Thanks for the running updates, good bud of mine saw me working on mine and come to find out his Dad has a carbed 280 automatic in great shape thats just sitting in his garage. His Dad has offered it to him but he doesn't like the auto. So I told him we could switch it out, he was all about it then. So we will use your experience as our guide. Have fun

Pete, the craigs list deals seem to be good starts for you. If in fact they do run, you can get into this car, not perfect, but running for under $1500. As stated before, the more you want to do, the more the price will change. Good luck and post some pic's
  13. Hey Gregg, ask Will(HLS30) what to do about this one, he knows the drill to get them off your back
  14. E, whats the best thing to do now ? As in what is the best way to seal this area
  15. ncz posted a post in a topic in Help Me !!
Pete, welcome to the site. John hit all the high spots(or should we say low spots). Where are you and where has the Z lived its life. Even if it has been in the dry states, you will still have rust. The western cars seem to have less than most. The parts you need to complete the project are plentiful and most can be had from members here. They may need rehab but thats the fun part. As mentioned before, rust is not your friend so climb under that thing and take some pic's

Hey Ron, I coming to San Diego next week, where do I find that car lot?
  17. I think Arne nailed it and from what I've seen here, you can't get those seals(new) you have to find some old ones that are decent. Enrique is good with those, maybe he can shed some light
  18. Ben, the wheels look great, and the shop fees seemed real reasonable for the work. Do you know if these exist in 15's?. Again, looks great!!

Hey Rick, I'm with Victor. The wife and I would love to come down and just spend time on your beaches. Don't care too much about seeing the aborigines, I am sure they are fine folks to visit. If we ever get it together, I'll make sure I get with you first to hit the right spots
  20. Thanks Dave, now I can replace the awful freehand/traces that I tried!!! Might make me look a bit more professional
  21. Gregg, ditto to what has been said above. I used a gasket scraper and most came off in chunks. I would take as much on the trans tunnel as you can. I found surface rust way up the tunnel that I didn't think was there. Same in the back, take it all off if you can. To me your pans didn't look too bad. The area under the seat mount may be patched but the rest might make it
  22. Ditto, Dogma240 just posted an article on removal of the evap tank. Very nice piece. I'd go that route

I think if you put some seahawk stickers on it you could get 20K!!! Sorry, I couldn't resist!!!
  25. Man, I was away from the computer for a couple of days. Haven't plugged into this one for awhile. Didn't know what I was missing. I almost fell out of my chair, with the "Every day, have to go get some more" line!!!!! I'll have to give it to the guy for continuing to reply. Now this is entertainment
