  1. You were mentioning it being a bit smokey at the back I'm wondering if this means the rings are gone have you done a compression test on it BTW?
  2. There is a place here called Rare Spares who make replacements for old cars. I imagine a RHD 240z would share the speedo cable of a FairladyZ do u want the whole thing? I have a spare in the garage I think but it's worn and causes the speedo to flicker low down. http://www.rarespares.net.au/mainind.htm try that not 100% sure if you'll find what your after but I'm pretty sure hope that helps.
  3. yeah pretty sure it's a rally clock or a fairlady Z clock the fact the seller mentions it comes in a ZG and 432's was what confirmed this to me. Alan T would know more
  4. just recently a member posted a webpage that was the entire fuel injection manual for the Z series (bosch unit). I don't recall everthing but it had a list of things to do and servicing functions. The p90 is probably what is helping that old engine the most it's an awesome flowing head. Had one in my 260z and it used to go pretty quick without any real mods.:classic:
  5. I've never sat on the spot and patched it but i saw my mates 240z do it both wheels very nice he was sliding sideways at the lights with me and another Z friend of mine next to him in a 4 lane highway we all had smiles. I'm worried I'll snap a Uni joint with the condition there in at the moment after the new cam goes in and I get a tune replace the uni's maybe i'll have a little video for you boys .
  6. If it's not liking to rev it could be any number of things. Could be fuel starvation check simple things like fuel filter, blocked injectors. Could be faulty AFM or any number of electrical issues. Could be just a tired motor also but it's more likely a tune issue with this sort of thing I'm not 100% sure with as I'm used to problems with carbs and ignition. If you really wanna get her running as best as possible it's to the dyno.:disappoin
  7. http://www.autoswalk.com/datsun240z.html I thought finally someone has set it straight with the designer of the 240z. I didn't read all the way through yet just thought some may or may not think it was well written cheers.

  10. You may be correct on that Halz. I have never compared the two side by side. It's not really of much of a concern to me however I have a 10:1 compression range on mine or at least I believe with the F54 bottom end and it's got larger valves from a n42 head . I'm getting my new camshaft set up tomorrow wish me luck
  11. Halz in Australia they are practically the same head anyway just the E88 has slightly bigger valves to begin with. All in all it's good to have an E31 but an early Z E88 is almost identical. :classic:
  12. That's a very nice looking Z I love the Gnose. However maybe you should state that it's a 240zg replica unless you've converted the LHD removed the flares and headlight covers etc. Good luck with selling it also
  13. I think you should drive both before deciding. I had a 2+2 it was a good car in many ways it went ok i could fit 4 guys in it but it wasn't like the 2 seater. The 2 seater is sexier lighter and the early 240z's will always be in my opinon the most fun. I like the Dash the rear lights and the early SU's. You have to drive them to compare them I feel the weight of a 2+2 over the 2 seater but the 240Z with skinny tires feel very light. The good thing about 2+2's is there so much cheaper than the 2 seaters and therefore cheap for a good condition one. Like Victor said I'd buy a 4 seater for the 4 seats rather than a 2 seater car originally adapted for the extra seating. There is really not much room. I guess what i'm trying to say is from having owned a 2+2 I wouldn't own another unless I still have a 2 seater tucked away somewhere.

  19. Diff mount?
  20. love the racing stripes Z is that your Z or a friends. I've seen it around have a few pics of it on my PC very nice the under bonnet lady is cool and the side pipes
  21. You have a 280z with steel valve seats the early L24's and L26's mainly had the brass ones. The l28 came with hardened valve seats . I know it's illegal to run a unleaded car with lead in Australia dunno about the states.:cheeky:
  22. i know a few people who would be interested in that motor have you sold it?
  23. they should be labelled mine were with an indications as to which one faced the front of the car and which one faced the back. They are a bastard to install and i would highly recommend having the old ones pressed out and new ones pressed in. The car feels alot better if your old bushes were worn when you replace them .
  24. Even considered fender mount mirrors but not sure without the wheel arches Gnose etc..
