Amco accessories
Hi Carl- Here's some pics I just took. The new console I got from Chloe (late last year) is on the right and top, respectively, and the old one pulled from a '76 280 in the junkyard is on the left and bottom, respectively. I just now noticed that the junkyard one didn't even have the slots cut for the side lid mount, it does have the molding impressions in it from the back side, but the plastic has not been cut through. Thanks for clearing up the mystery of the hinge for me, btw. Wayne

Bench Testing Wiper Motor
I recall before the updated forum format, there was a 240Z wiring diagram available in the download section. Can't find it now I think I have it saved on the home computer. I'll check tonight. Wayne

Amco accessories
I found one of these in the junk yard last year, after taking the console out and bringing it home I noticed that the hinge was on the rear, and it looked like a hinge you put on a house door. :stupid: Anyone know if these lids were supposed to 'bolt on' to existing factory mounts? Or did everyone have to 'rig' it on? :disappoin Also, the hinge is placed so it swings at the back, rather than swing on the passenger side as stock lids. Still haven't decided what to do with it... it just lies under the table for now, with a new console stacked on top. I'll snap some pictures when I get home this evening if anyone is interested. BTW, the console came out of a '76 280Z, if that makes any difference. Wayne

Heater Blower Fire
Dave- I've got a blower unit complete w/o the flex. duct (just sold that recently), however, this one is for units w/o A/C. The dropping resistors (the wire wounds inside the heater blower case you see in your pic) are wired to your switch, however, I tend to believe that some crud was in there that when it got hot (from the heat dissipation of the resistor switch), it started a fire. Do you recall what fan setting you had it on? "HI" is basically a straight short, where the other speeds use the resistance. Send me a PM if you are interested. The unit that I don't need is on the right. I also have the fan switch for 3 speeds if you are interested in that. Wayne

Not really a rotisserie...
Will- I saw your rotisserie in your gallery; it looked very similar to an engine stand (one end). Is that what it is? Ingenious! Wayne

Charley's Comming
I got a new backyard pond (well, it was there for about 2 hours...) The main drag was flooded so we got a lot of traffic down our little side street going to nowhere.... (water was actually coming out of the storm drains onto the street...) Flood waters took out 3 cars in about 10 minutes... (all anyone had to do was slow down to make the pass... ) Took the plugs out of one guy's car and it looked like ol' faithful.. Wayne

Not really a rotisserie...
Ed- that's what I thought.... I was able to unbolt the front suspension from the unibody, leaving the engine and tranny on the cross member, teetered it like a wheelbarrow... now just to get it painted and bolted back together.... http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=11851&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 Of course, I put a lot of weight in the back for counterbalancing.... Agreed, teetering is easier than 'tilting' the way those lifts work... I thought the 'tilter' had a mechanism for lifting the car - i.e. is that why the 'third' wheel is removed? Wayne

Not really a rotisserie...
Anyone else see this contraption? Car Tilter If link does not work, use http://www.eastwoodco.com/, click on 'new products' then on 'car tilter' A little too pricey for my budget.... Wayne

MidwestZ??
Vicky- Yes, you can, at the Kansas Secretary of State, however, only 300 entities will show... after that, a subscription is needed... and finding MidwestZ after it shows "Mid-West" and "Mid West" and "Midwest" in the middle of the midwest is no where to be seen... :stupid: Wayne

a cheaper solution wanted
Try your local junkyard.... I was removing the taillight off a late model 'stang and that baby looked just like the one for our Z..... Flexible on both ends.... stretch to fit.... is it worth a try? If I needed one, I would have grabbed it and given you a 'for sure' answer, but it's only specualtion on my part. Wayne

MidwestZ??
I faxed Chloe the first page of this thread on Monday.... fax went through as far as I can tell.... (no error msg, fax tone on the rcv'ing end) I looked through all of my emails from her to see if she had forwarded/replied with another address.... sure enough, she did... so far that email has not been returned (sent today at 1720) Wayne

27th z!!!
On the bright side, it looks like she has steered clear of the plastic surgery fad.... With only needing to correct Mother Nature's ill-fated attempts at recycling, and not Dr. Shadetree bodyboy's (bondo spreader expertise) mistakes at trying to correct the initial scars on top of that.... I need to survey down in at East Coast Z in Chesapeake to see what early numbers he has down there.... Congrats on the purchase... sorry for lettin' the cat out. :stupid: Wayne

battery area repair
fabrication of new battery tray. Removed the originial, formed a 3" strip of 22ga in a 'quarter round' and welded flat sheet to it. Not the prettiest, but it should work.

hold on there, Nellie....

Car Hauling
Therein lies the problem... you have the trailer, car is elsewhere... trailer needs to be 'relayed' up to the buyer, then 'relayed' back with the car on it. When I initally 'pea-brain-stormed' that idea, I would have drove 200 miles (50 miles up, 100 miles back, then 50 miles back home for one example, or 100 miles one way to 100 miles back and 'pass the batton') Find two (willing) people in the same City and you can really move a car. But, I'm sure that there are many 'holes' in this theory, syncronizing pickups, unplanned emergencies / breakdowns... I for one would have to rent a truck (my poor baby can barely haul 5 gallons of gas in it) Of course, spotting a trucker w/ an empty load wantin a few extra cash bucks in their pocked going your way would really help alot. Where's Keith (2ManyZs) to help out in some of the theory? Wayne

Car Hauling
Hi Chris- Get a 'tag-team' of East Coast Z'ers to inaugurate a 'tow-the-Z relay' Seriously, if you are towing it yourself and crossing the Bay-Bridge tunnel, the tolls increased last month or so, now it's up to $12 one way or $17 for a 24-hour return trip. Yeah, I know that's chump change, but if you get a chance, stop on in. Beer is always cold. Haulers usually charge more for the non-operable cars. If you are going to part it, best to rent a u-haul. MidwestZ??
Also, remote travel to family for an extended emergency, in unfamiliar city w/o internet access, only keeping ties (check-in's) with the only soul watching your place. Hospitals as a general rule do not permit cellular phones (being on) inside the facility. I'll try and send a fax tomorrow, unless someone else can before that... 1.800.839.1659 Perhaps the individual watching over the her home will see the fax and pass the news along. same here.... Wayne
