Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Having been declared in 1995 as “under restoration” #51 has sat quietly waiting for someone to put her back together., I thought I’d share my sure to be slow resto project……good, the bad, and the ugly. Pulling a clear glass, 09/69 dated rear hatch glass from the clutches of a dry rotted hard gasket isn’t for the faint of heart…. Trusty hammer, screw driver……😃

intake e46 vs n36
I to have “heard” for many years of the increased flow of the n36 “260z” and the n33 “73-240z” intakes. It’s quite visually obvious looking into the carb side that there is a straighter path for a couple of cylinders. If I remember correctly you can swap the longer carb mounting studs from the n46 onto the n33/36 and retain the thicker isolater. David

Would all these markets all be RHD?

Belly pan front valance.
Just bought one……. I’ve liked the subtle appearance of those spoilers….. Found a euro spoiler earlier this evening, should have in a week or two. I think the full underbelly will be the tough one to find Now to find the proper left side front quarter. I Learn something everyday.😀

Belly pan front valance.
So every car outside of the United States came with captive nuts on the front valance …….not as rare a peice as I thought…… worldwide.. Appreciate answering that question for me… Now to find a 240 spook spoiler to utilize this part. David

Belly pan front valance.
Found on eBay recently, and curious if this is how all Jdm cars come from factory? With captured nuts for optional belly pan, that runs under the engine compartment?

Center console date ?
Noticed this 46-11-9….hidden under the ashtray door slide. Thinking it may refer to a date of November 9, 1971? Or would it be September 9,1971 Trying to hammer down date of production of my hs30-10324 car if it is possible to get down to a month, or day of production.

Hs30 ZL original horn pad.
I purchased a 1971 HS30 DX with HH tendencies last month😃. My question is to which is correct horn pad. The pad that came with car does not have the outline of a tiny trumpet under or over the Z Marking. The only horn pads I see for sale or online have the trumpet. I also have a copy of sales brochure that also has the button without trumpet….. I’ve read somewhere the trumpet was required by a govt agency? I’ve seen several for sale new and used with trumpet….. which is proper?

Radiator lower support anomaly?
My friend Clay Beacham has the car that has the “432” lower radiator support with a/c condenser mounts and the mounts for the 432 air box….. both these pieces came from the same purchase that originally was from New Jersey area in mid 70s I’m sure the front of his car was repaired with that replacement body part

Radiator lower support anomaly?
Found this lower radiator support in a parts pile that has me befuddled once more….. I know the 2 clips for mounting the Japanese market 432 air filter on the drivers right side, but this piece has the same small clips on the passenger side left lower radiator support. What was mounted on this side before 1974 ?

Japanese RHD HS30 variations 70-74
Interestingly, noticed the headers were at one time GREEN in color…… This car was a bright, flashy car roaming the streets of Japan at one time….. the metal vented fenders, green headers, 40phh solex mikunis, at one time gas tank shows it was blue in color as well….. Flashy, snazzy!!

The rear bumper has been painted a gloss black to match the front and of course the rusty rockers. A quick peak on the inside “facing car” of bumper shows a maybe silver gray color…. Not chrome. There are no marks we’re bumper guards would have been attached… on second thought did any of HS30 car have bumper guards? Rubber strip is present in center of bumper although in poor shape.

Took couple of pictures of tow hook, turned straight and turned diagonal as your pictures show without the ductwork in the nose. Strongly built tow 🪝

Rubber strip on rear bumper does go a cross three piece. Have look at wipers -and rear bumper color….. maybe a tough call on that….

Please remember, that I have already identified the glove box chalk markings as to be the HS30-ZL version…. Now if there is/or has been some disputing that identifier I’m all ears. But it is what is is.

We have already removed the “flares….over fenders” There is corner identification, but it is more on a small white or silver tag like marked with 2 letter for corresponding corner. I’ll have to look in morning to give better idea, or picture.

Ah I see, the side grill mount bracket. I will be back with car tomorrow and check for the bracket condition. Looking at the vin, would place this car as a 1971 car or 72 ? In your opinion? Thank you!

Surprised the center grill mount left intact on mine and your pictures. I assume from legit NG/HH car? Not quite sure of the “snapped bracket”?

Thank you so much for responding, yes, those items mentioned are all on my car , but also some duct work, seemingly funneling air to the center of radiator?
