I have been mechanically inclined since my youth and went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute - where I learned to appreciate engineering - for my undergraduate degree (chemistry) and Iowa State University for my doctorate. Worked as an industrial research chemist in my professional career and contributed to developing commercial products almost everyone reading this will know of (just ask me) and industrial products you've never heard of. Also had the fun of working on several cool non-secret and seemingly mundane projects for our armed forces.

Now widowed but still happily retired, I have many interests from paleontology to aviculture to politics to Z cars.
