  1. I restored the 240z, just didnt use some of the parts since i upgraded many of the components.
  2. Foudn this for sale on facebook if this will help https://www.facebook.com/commerce/listing/1111582494606952/?ref=share_attachment
  3. I think i figured it out. Due to how low the car is and using the original steering rack i was seeing issues with extreme bump steer. I have lowered the Tie rods to be even with the steering, and slightly raised the car. its drivable now at least.
  4. Hello, I am using both shifter and oil.temp guage.
  5. Hello, I did have a full wiring set from the 240z but i have no idea what the tail light harness looks like, and some stuff has been purchased. If you can get in touch with JFA.Series 1 i would suggest that. im almost done with the 240z so everything else is available.
  6. Im trying to diagnose and figure out a steering issue i am having. My 240z is using modified parts so I dont know how much help i can get, but its worth a shot. Once i start going over 45-50 MPH my steering becomes very hard to keep straight. it darts left and right. i cant tell if its because the road is pulling a tire one way or the other, or something else is causing it. I am using an OEM steering rack, Apex Engeneered control arms and tie rods. I also have BC coilovers with the suspension low. I also do have a negative camber to fit my wheels which are 18x9.5. Everything that i can tell is tight alignment has not been done by a shop but I squared it up the best i can to the body within a 1° or so.
  7. sent you a DM
  8. Hello, Just saw this, sent you a message
  9. Thank you everyone for the responses. I have tested the fit and it looks like the pick up tube is identical to every other L series motor, just the sump itself it pushed back. I'm going to use the 240z mid sump and install a 10an fitting for an oil return. Test fitted and looks great!
  10. Im trying to figure out if i should change my oil pan out. give me some advice. I have a L28et out of a 83' 280zx turbo car. Im cleaning the oil pan and its seen better days.... I also have a New old stock L28 or L24 oil pan. I know it will fit, but i dont know if i should use it due to the sump being towards the middle of the pan vs the turbo pan is towards the back of the engine. I know i will need to modify the pan to add a oil return for the turbo but thats simple enough. And i have spare parts from two L28s i can use the proper pickup tube. I just dont know if i shouldnt becuase of a factor im unawar of. Pictures are of a stock image L28et pan, vs the newer pan that I own
  11. I might take the time and CAD then. I ended up drilling a small hole and replacing the small dowel of plastic that broke off of the internals of the turn switch.
  12. Anyone know of or have 3d files to print replacement parts for these parts inside the combo and turn signal switches? These would be very easy to fix if they weren't plastic. Or a location that sells these internal parts.
  13. There is. The pedal box doesnt seem to effect the mounting position of the dashboard at all. I ended up drilling holes in box in order to properly mount the steering column however. After thinking about it, the only explanation I can assume is when i glued the replacement foam onto the dash frame is thats its crooked somehow, even though all the contact points lined up. I think im just going to buy get a new set of plastic covers, which i need anyway, and extend them to cover the area. Then cover them with an automotive fabric or something. we will see.
  14. Looking at 240z i can see the plastic column covers that surround the ignition switch, turn signal and combiniation switch butts up against the dash. Its very strang as i feel like the dash should go forward about 1 inch.. but this makes it look like its needs to come back ~2 inches.
  15. Thank you. I decided to change out the stop bumpers and make them longer so they are back further. I have yet to hook up the hydraulics yet. hopefully i will have enough range to allow the clutch to work. We will see! Thank you again.
  16. I'm stumped as to why my steering and dash aren't fitting correctly. Series 1 240z Original dash frame, replacement foam dash Original steering column Original steering column covers (I want to replace). The main issue looks like the column covers are too far forward, there is a gap between where they mount around the ignition switch. Almost like the column is too long or the dash is too forward. I would like the column to he pushed in.... But I'm assuming this this is permanently the same length.
  17. Thats a great source of information, thank you! I do have paperback manuals for the car but nothing is showing measurements. I feel like the pivot point for the 240z and 280z are different lengths away from the firewall.
  18. As I am putting my series 1 240z back together I found i have a two 280z clutch and break assemblies. I can get it installed without issues as i have a 280z steering column and a 240z column. I do understand there are changes with alignment for the fireware because they increased the size of the brake booster.... My main question is, are the pedals further back in the 240z assembly vs the 280z? with the 280z version installed i feel like the pedals are further away from the firewall than they should be. I'm 6"1 and my legs are more cramped than I remember being in the 280z. I have moved the bump stopp all the way out to push them as far as possible but they are still too much forward.
  19. I am in the process of restoring a 240z and i have all the hard plastic intior pieces, i think. I cannot find any information or panels for sale to cover the front and side molding pieces around the headliner. I have the rear molding that the dome light goes. What do i do for the molding pieces that go with the door and across the front where the rearview mirror goes? If there are plastic moldings that go there, where can i buy them? i cant find them anywhere.
  20. how many pistons? assuming 2?
  21. Thank you for the info in the future, DM as i would need to get something regardless. if you're letting your OEM mount go i'd take it. DM me
  22. Would you be able to measure the how much drop the center of the mount, where the transmission bushing bolts to and the mount surface is? i think i just have to make one. The distance im pointing to in yellow. im sure its not much. something like 5/8.
  23. The measurement between these two mounting locations is about 292mm for my car, 1970 240z. The nuts do move so there is a ~ 5mm movement there.
  24. Very interesting, I just measured center to center of the mounts and its 11.5 inches or 292 MM. I almost might just fabricate one myself. im not looking for this car to be OEM.
  25. Anyone know the specs? Maybe I can It's really weird I have photos of this car from the '80s and it was a manual transmission but the mount looks to be up automatic. I wonder if early in production they change this car to a manual for some reason. Regardless I need to find a mount
