another K owner
Yeah, there's all kinds of neat things about them, I've got an official Nissan printed 240K Brochure and the various things I've discovered on the net have surely been interesting. The JDM 2000GT-X for example came with electric windows as an option, as well as a radio, a cassette player and air-conditioning.

It sounds like you may be the owner of the one that i saw pictures of on the Dastun1200 forums, it's a purple or a blue colour of sorts isnt it? If that's you. Welcome anyway, look forward to seeing more pictures (if that was you) or some pictures (if it wasn't).

How much would you pay....?
I wouldn't sell mine either to be honest. The previous owner has already made an offer of a couple of other Datsuns and a bunch of crap to go with them to get it back off me. I said no. An offer over $10K might have me interested but I wouldnt expect to get anywhere near that.. so I think I'm safe. I have however seen coupes around the $3-4K NZD mark. Never witnessed a sedan in the flesh so cant really even think about it, despite my bundles of pictures Oh and there was the one JDM C110 Coupe with a 3.1 Stroker and flares and all the niceities that sold in auction in Japan for $18000AUD or NZD, I can't recall.. either way.. it was an impressive figure.

A 240Z Battery Operated Japanese Policecar Toy
I know, too rich for me but keeping an eye on it none the less, $100NZD though.. which is what? $68USD now? Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on that, I do a daily search for Datsun it's too far away in any case and I don't have the money but I'm still interersted in seeing how much it goes for.

A 240Z Battery Operated Japanese Policecar Toy
Thought you guys may be keen on this, I found it by chance, on a weird whim I thought I'd search for 280Z and this came up.. but I'm pretty sure it's not a 280Z, infact.. I thought this also came as a 240Z model in diecast form and such. Anyway, Here you go; http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auction_detail.asp?id=9945554&permanent=0

1977 Nissan Fairlady Z on trademe.co.nz
I believe only the Z432 has the S20, if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me. In the Z range that is, the other obvious car with the S20 is the 2000GT-R C10 and C110 Skylines

Yes, the S20 is DOHC but I don't know why you've mentioned it? It isnt mentioned anywhere else. This is a Fairlady Z it'll have an L20 SOHC in it.

Im not really all that knowledged on Z cars, but your average other Zcar of the time would also not have the bent gear stick ? Was that not part of the competition box or some such?

Buy a REAL C110 GT-R
Man that's awesome! v12horse, I think the C110's fetch a higher price than the C10's due to the numbers produced. It has 86000kms on it, so it's not THAT new, but it certainly looks well looked after. And other than having a couple of random non-genuine parts, it's simply awesome. Gotta love those PMC stickers on the bumper

What I did on the weekend
Can you not find one cheap in Aus or elsewhere and have it shipped over? Alternatively you could put a wanted ad on the SDU forums page and that way you could pay for it and they send it directly to the guys for you. Mind you, I guess you'd ideally want a brand new one.

What I did on the weekend
Looks good.. has it reached you in Aus or is it still over here in NZ?

These kind of bad journalistic skills are annoying, because if you like to know about the different things you have to assume they're doing their job correctly, countless people now are going to believe that the car was the actual genuine rally car all because they read it. Also because you know about the genuine car you can pick out these things, but what about the cars you aren't so well knowledged on? you have to take what they're saying as truth always with slight doubt, but after what seems to be such a blatant load of crap there's no way I could read an article from that person again and assume they even have a vague idea of what they're talking about. The same kind of thing no doubt happens with magazines and internet sites around the globe and it's just frustrating. I say that you Guus, should contact the magazine and get them to come to you for an article on a decent replica rally car, one that is closer to actually resembling the true rally car. And then send me a copy

Matchbox Speed Kings 1
Hey, you're missing the stickers and also look to be missing all the spotlamps, I have two of three. Good stuff despite the hood opening the wrong way and the engine bay being wrong.

Factory 240Z headers
NISMO = Nissan Motorsports. Nissan's Performance Company. My "How to modify your NISSAN/DATSUN OHC Engine" book, would indicate that yes, Nissan did make competition headers or "factory race headers" for the 240Z. But unfortunately it doesn't indicate whether they were made early on and subsequently fits later models, or were made later on and as such, fit earlier models. So I guess my answer didnt really help out at all Sorry. :stupid:

Forget your Z dude. (no offense Z people ) Buy that and you'll have the start of the Skyline legend. I'd love an S54, even a GT would be fantastic a GT-B would be mind blowingly cool. I met a guy who owned 2 of the 5 that made it to NZ. He sold them in 1989. His son still hasn't forgiven him, he used one, triple carbs and all as his daily driver . If you've got the money I say go for it.

Car Won't Start!!
Either your starter motor or your starter switch (solenoid) is faulty. Check the wiring between the battery and the solenoid and Starter motor, if nothing is wrong there, remove the starter motor and check it on the ol' workbench.. you might want to hold it gently in a vice or something cause when you attach the 12V battery lines to it it'll jump a bit if it's not secured. If you cant find anything wrong with the starter motor and solenoid, take it in somewhere for them to test it, they'll soon tell you if theres some problems. Good luck.
