Yes, you can bolt the whole assembly into your 240z but, it will raise the ride height approximately 2 inches...okay if you like the "rally" look. The PO of my car had done this. I found out when I went to replace all struts and springs on my 72z and the rears didn't fit. They were too small. I had to find a set of 240z rear strut tubes to fit back in. I still have the 260/280z rear strut tubes although I don't know why? I won't be using them again. I hope this answers your question.

if you get it figured out, I would be interested in getting a copy. Just let me know how much?
  4. I put the Tokico HP Blues and Tokico springs on my 240 and it lowered it almost an inch from what was in there on the front. I had to replace my rear strut tubes because the PO had put on later 260/280 strut tubes and I had the "rallye look" on the back end. Once those were replaced the car sat what appears to be level only 1 inch lower. FWIW

The later 280zx is not interchangeable with the early z cars. It is a completely different shape. ie more squared instead of round.

I just put in a new Pioneer head unit with some modification mind you and depth clearance wasn't an issue!

SWEEEEEEET. I'd like to get a set for my Z. I guess I'll just have to settle for the one I have.

Miles Do they still use the internally lighted license plates? I was able to get one from a friend of mine when I left Okinawa back in the late 80's. I am going to clean it up and use for shows and such when the car gets that far along.
  9. Pictures would help out alot:)
  10. I also have this problem except when my gauge reads "E" I actually have several gallons left in my tank. What irritates me is my sending unit is brand new!!! If you try AZ-240z suggestion, please post results so that I may try it too. (I just don't want to be the tester on thisLOL LOL )

I am still in the planning stages so it will still be a while before I actually start making them. I will post pictures of the progress when the time comes however.

I am working on making my own door panels out of fiberglass with molded in mounting locations and will be installing a 6 1/2 bass speaker down on the lower front corner and molding in a mounting location up towards the front upper corner near the dash for the mids and highs. I also have a 12" sub that will have a custom molded enclosure in the spare tire well so that I will have an all around good sound for when I don't want to listen to the awesome sound emitted by the nissan six with a custom exhaust!!! Just some plans I am working on. I have upgraded the alternator already using the plug and play adapter sold by Arne and upgraded the headlight harness and parking light harness made by Zs-ondabrain. All of these upgrades are more than worth the cost. Did I mention that they are all plug and play!!! no cutting of original harnesses required!!!
  13. I'll Do a set as well
  14. I picked up my 60 amp alternator at O'Reilly Auto Parts today for $44.99 with a lifetime warranty. Got the swapout done in about 15 minutes. Took care of the jumping needle I had in my amp meter. Quick, easy...Ya gotta love it!!! Thanks guys for coming up with these upgrades!

I found that one real easy. Again, I may be mistaken. I just thought that someone did a refurbish on a t/s and I was looking for it. I am also looking on some other forums also. just to be sure.

Either I am not searching the correct words to find it or I am imagining things. Awhile ago some one posted a "how to " on taking apart, reconditioning, and putting back together a turn signal switch. Does anyone know what happened to that article? I would like to try it on a spare t/s switch that I have that doesn't work and the one I am using is showing signs of failure (possibly).
  18. Arne The money order is on its way...Thanks
  19. It sounds alot worse than it is unless you are driving the car with it that way. It is a pretty simple task to do. Go buy a wheel cylinder rebuild kit for each rear wheel and brake fluid. Watch how you take it apart. Clean everything real good. Put the new parts on. Repeat for other side. Bleed the brakes. I may have missed a step or two but it really is pretty easy. Good luck. Gotta love these old cars!!!
  20. Sounds like you probably blew the wheel cylinder out. Time for a rebuild. When you applied pressure without the drum on there was nothing to keep the brake shoes from expanding more than normal causing the pressure to push the pistons in the wheel cylinders out and "blowing" off the rubber caps. If your lucky you didn't rip the rubber caps and maybe able to reuse them. However, I would probably rebuild them both for safety's sake.
  21. I tend to caution on the side of overkill when it comes to stuff like this. I would scrap the 8 gauge and go with 4 gauge. You may decide to add to the stereo later on which would require more. Just my $.02 worth of advice.
  22. I want to order 2, one for a spare??? I will get out the money to you Fri or Sat this week. If possible would you accept a personal check? I will be glad to have you wait until it clears (no problem for me) I just hate paying someone for moneyorders and I am not in a big hurry. Just let me know. Thanks again. This will go great with Dave's Headlight harness and parking light harness that I have installed. TOP NOTCH STUFF GUYS don't wait or you may miss out. Easy to install and what a difference!!!
  23. I was very paranoid Ed!!! and it's not even close to being restored as yours has been. By the way I have seen the pics AWESOME job!!! I just hope I will be able to go back and do it the way I want to. I hate being pressed into getting things done just so I have the transportation. Maybe I should have just bought a "beater car" instead of getting the Z road worthy. It handles great, runs great, just looks like crap . Except ANY Z driving down the road looks goodLOL Even with 106k miles on the odometer she runs strong. The only engine work so far has been Ztherapy SU's, MSA's 6 into 1 coated header and 2 1/2 turbo exhaust and a Crane XR3000 ignition system with PS-91 Coil. Ain't it funny how a 1 mile trip in your favorite car turns into the biggest smile on your face (barring one other activity that puts a much bigger smile on your face ) I literally listened for anything that was out of place and wondering things like did I really torque the stub axle nuts high enough? Are all the other nuts and bolts where they're suppose to be and tightened correctly. I was a nervous wreck :stupid:It just felt awesome driving it again. Many thanks to those on this site who are willing to give out there tips to help out and with those tips great support.
  24. According to that pic Arne...it seems to be where it should be...cool, I haven't screwed it up....yetROFL ROFL
