help with adjustable brake proportion valve
Hello all. I purchased an adjustable proportioning valve for use with my rear disc conversion on my 240Z. According to the instructions, increasing the valve, increases the pressure to the rear brakes. My question is: does restricting the flow increase pressure?? I blew through the "IN" side while turning the valve. The more I turned in the "increase" direction, the harder it was to blow through it..... can anyone explain this to me??

Great Racing on Speed TV
No damage, just lost a stereo amplifier. The next day, I had an alarm put in it. I live in an apartment complex, but my 'baby' is parked right infront of by bedroom window. If I only would have heard the thieves, the outcome would have been a little different. Hopefully the alarm system will keep that from happening again. Funny thing is, that's why I still haven't painted my car yet. I figured, why draw attention to it when I don't have a garage for it yet. So much for that theory. Only a little while longer and I should be able to get into a house with a garage. Until then, it's paranoia!!! and sleep with one eye, and one ear open.

Great Racing on Speed TV
Bambikiller.....Ditto... !!!.... you slayed me with that last post!!! I'm getting tired of NASCAR everytime I turn on my speedchannel; and that's bad when I get tired of ANY type of racing. I'm off to give my opinion to speedtv.

How do you like the front of your Z?
Out of all the aftermarket front spoilers out there, I liked the Kaminari air dam the best. It follows the lines of the Z car well especially with the headlight covers. Although the stock front looks great, I wanted a slightly more agressive look. Bumpers are fiberglass ( weight loss program ). here's a pic.

One car I love equally as a Z
That was a great event. I was going to run at that event (my first one actually driving) , but the wife needed tires for her car (2000 celica gts), so I just didn't have the extra funds for registration and helmet (maybe Santa will get me a helmet for Xmas) Oh well, at least I was able to take my son out there, he's 2 yrs old. We were in row 1 in the Grandstands. While the drivers were in the starting grid, my son get yelling at them to GO!!!! he's already got the racing bug!!!!

432Z front grille
I believe I paid 140 dollars for it.

432Z front grille
Thanks for the correction. I'm glad there still available. I know a few people who wanted one, but I took Nissan's word for it. I think it looks much better than the bar type grille.

432Z front grille
I found a great alternative to the stock front grille. It's the grille from the 432Z (only released in Japan). here's a picture of the grille. I'll post a picture of it on my car in the future. Sorry folks, I think I got the last one from Nissan.

One car I love equally as a Z
Ah yes, the Shelby Daytona. I saw one at the last N.A.S.A. event at Sears Point ( Infineon Raceway now). VERY FAST. I guess that's why I like the 240Z. It resembles that car, along with this one: Ferrari 275 GTB

'79 vs '82 rear disc calipers - opinions?
You know, now that I thought of it, I think the calipers DO need to be from an 82-83, not 81. It's been awhile since I've mess with that conversion. The calipers I have ARE from an 1982 280ZX.

'79 vs '82 rear disc calipers - opinions?
Yes, the 82 calipers fit. 81-83 rear calipers are the ones you need for the Maxima brakets. The rotors you need are also from a 1981-83 280ZX. It's probably a good idea to get the 81-83 280ZX proportionig valve, or an adjustible one. It's been awhile since I've seen the website, and I can't remeber what the url is. I'll talk to a friend today to see if he still has the information on that conversion.

Engine swap 2
I didn't think that you could use carbs on a P90. That's why I used an N42 with a P54 block. But I have heard the P90 is the best flowing head though. I've also heard that the P54 block had additional web casting between the cylinder walls. My motor (Rebello Racing built 3.0L)is runnin about 275 hp with 50 mm SU carbs. Run's sweet, power band is set up for the1983 280ZX close gear ratio five speed and 3.9 rear end. It's not a V-8, but It sure sounds like one!!!

I have 2 sets of the 1981 Nissan Maxima caliper brakets, for the conversion you guys are talking about. 1 set is brand new from Nissan, the other set is from a wrecking yard. I also have a set of 1982 280ZX rear calipers, but they need rebuilding. Any takers??? After getting these parts I decided to get the rear brake conversion from www.modern-motorsports.com

One car I love equally as a Z
When I win the Lottery, that car is in the top 5 on my list. There is a TV show called Top Gear that did a segment on that car. You can download the clip from this website. www.cowlishaw.net/~jim/video/video.htm just scroll down until you see the thumbnail of the Miura.

my take on the 350Z
The truth is, when I first saw the new Z, I really didn't care for it too much. Thought it looked like a cross between the new Audi TT and the new Celica GTS. In this day and age of "retro", I was hoping it would look more like the 240Z. All that has changed, now that I have seen one in person. It's looks have definately grown on me. Even though it's wheel base is larger than any other Z, it seems a lot smaller than the last of the 300Z's. The interior is great, the gauges are easy to read. I especially like the tach right in the middle. God knows I look at that gauge the most!!!! (mph is just a by product) What really hooked me on it was watching it do some laps this past weekend at Infineon Raceway here in Northern California (used to be Sears Point Raceway). It looked great to see this 350Z mixing it up with Corvettes,WRX's, Porsche's, and NSX's. Has anyone here taking the 350Z for a spin yet?? how was it??? likes, dislikes??

Right Front Shakes
I've owned 2 z's and they both had a wheel wobble. Each time it was wheel balance. I've heard Z's are less forgiving when it comes to wheel balance. I had some tires put on my Z, and had to take it to 3 different shops before I found a place that could dial those tires in. The owner, of the place I finally took it to, is a Z enthusiast. Of coarse, my entire front end is new, so I knew it had to be wheel balance. I've had it up to 140 and never a shake.

what is the world coming to?
I know how you feel. I had my 240Z stolen out of my driveway ( primered grey! ). Thank God I had a loud exhaust, and a thief that didn't know how to work a manual choke!!! all that noise woke me out of a deep sleep... I looked out the window just in time to see my car speeding off... While trying to get my wits about me, I called the police. My aunt, is head of dispatch, where I live and as luck would have it, she answered the phone. The cops gave chase, the thieves spun out trying to negotiate a turn. ( luckily they didn't hit a thing) they jumped out of the car to make a run for it, but were apprehended... the whole incident took about 15 min. Damn thing seemed like a dream. I was back at my place, with my car, in about an hour. the only thing good was that, the motor that was in my car, was an old one. After the incident, I was awarded 1600 dollars for restitution. That went to the Rebello 3.0L engine fund!! After that, I took back everything I had said about my Bad Luck!!
