electric radiator fans?
Hey guys, I was doing some searches and dissapointed not finding any information on an electric fan conversion for cooling. Maybe my searching skills are below par but either way I would like to know who has them, why they got them, how much it costed, and mounting/modification specifics. Oh and also the horsepower free'd up from taking the engine driven fan off? Enough to notice ? Thanks

All of the sudden...
Ok, I am running a stock distributor with points. The vacume is hooked up, last time I checked. I have an electric fuel pump, and the car came with a non adjustable regulator. When I put the bigger carbs and exhaust on It started to lean out at higher speeds. So the new regulator fixed it... I dont know if one of the floats has sunk, but I check. How do you do that anyways... The screw to clamp the chocke cable down is stripped so I am going to use a bolt or re-tap it... and I will retime it when i get back home. Sorry for the ambigious post I realize now that i should try to localize the problem before asking you guys Thanks

All of the sudden...
Hey guys, All of the sudden my car started running horrible... It was right after I thought I was going to adjust the valves, and got the cover off and then realized i did not have the right wrenches. Also I put on an adjustable fuel regulator. But I tested it after that and It ran GREAT! It did not run out of fuel at 60 anymore... One day it was running fine, and then when i was driving the engine started getting fuzzy and weak like it was starved for something, very aparent too. I thought it was the fuel, so I adjusted that, no luck, carbs... no luck. And then I realized I had my choke still on:stupid: But only one of the chokes work on my DGV's (thats #4 on the list). So anyway I pushed the choke back in and it still would run fine for about 20 seconds. and then as soon as i started to cruise for a while it would die down lose power and eventually die... Now I have discovered that right under the mechanical fuel pump (that is bypassed) it looks like some oil seepage from fuel pump or the head... I dont know how this would afffect the driving but It has oil and ran at good temperatures. Also one of the carbs main adjustment needles is somewhat stripped. I dont know if it is the sleeve or the screw/needle (thats #1 on the list). Does anyone know where to get a replacement one??? Are their any diagnostic tests I can do to see if its my mixture? Last time I looked at my sparkpluges they were a nice tan, little on the rich side but looked ok...

My first ever drive in my Z
haha, Z28 is one of the letter-number codes used in the chevrolet plants to describe what the car is going to need put in it... I think it originated when one of the tech guys said ya this is the z28 model, and I guess the name stuck... Also all the other goodies like the z71, z24, zr2 etc... and my favorites. the Z06 and the ZR1. There is just something about the letter that makes the car seem a little more zzzzippy...

close one!
Hey guys, I popped my valve cover off after about 20 minutes of driving to adjust the valves. When I popped it off I saw that the oiler bar closest to the #6 cylinder was so close to one of the lobes of the cam I could almost fill the gap with my thickest feeler gauge! I took the oiler bar off, I knew it was bent but further inspection would reveal much more... When I unscrewed the bolt that held it in, it was off center, meaning the bolt were bent a bit... Then I pounded the resevoir part of the oiler bar assembly back straight. and then got as close of a fit as I was going to get.. When I put the bar back in I noticed when I tightened it even a little it still pulled to that side. I finally looked very closely and I think the part of the rear cam tower that has the threads in it for the rear oiler bar was warped a bit... or somehow bent back ever so much... This may have just been because I could not get the screw perfectly sstraight, but it may have been the cam tower. Anyway I did not adjust the valves because I bought some new non slip wrenches with little lips on them, and they would not fit like I wanted them... Anyone ever heard of this or know what might be going on? Also anyone know a good way to get the left over goo and gunk from the carpet off the interior?

I dont think he cared what they said, or how much they laughed, he just wanted people to talk about it. And here we are, bashing/talking about it. WTF am I saying, ya it is a piece of $^!#! Yes, at least it is not a z...

new repair rust protection
Hi guys, I just pounded out a reverse ding in my hood, due to me leaving a wratchet under the hood and then shutting it...:stupid: Anyway I sanded it down, and then took a little propane torch to it and banged it out as good as I could get, which seems about 90% better. But now I have some exposed metal, do you guys have any suggestions how to protecht it? And I also banged out some dents in my rear bumper...

My first ever drive in my Z
I pased a pretty girl once. She looked at the car with her jaw hanging down. Then covered her ears, flicked me off and started coughing while I flew by... I gues the little sexy rev was not as of successful move as I had thought...

Just sayin hey
I also always park next to a fellow z owner, even it means hearing the girlfriend complain about walking the extra couple hundred feet from the other spot.

be thankful to old pops, My dad does nothing with cars, knows nothing, and thinks that I should not be doing anything with them. It is a constant battle to own a project car. I wish my dad was into them...

Ferrari Approval
Ok, So I was driving home from a friends house in my 73' 240. I pulled up to a stoplight, and I look over and is the "old man" in the ferrari. Now I have seen this guy around and he is a great old guy who drives this late 80's ferrari almost everyday I think. I am pretty sure it is a 308 gts. Anyway, my car sparks his attention at the light, and he givs me a little wave as I give him the "nod" (you all know the nod right?). Well I know he probably does not want a drag race so I give him a little bit of rev, thinking maybe I can get some action out of him... About 3000 rpm into first gear I turn my head a bit and give him the "look out the side of the eye" (you all know that one too right?). Well I guess that got him going, or at least enough to entertain me. So we take off and he just stays along the side of me (with medium effort ). Now my car has weber dgv's and a 6 to 1 header, with a 2.5 inch exhaust and a borla straight through muffler. I'll say this, I bought the car SET on putting a v8 in it, but when I got the exhaust and heard the music she puts out I fell in love . I pulled the car up to 7000 rpm and then proceeded to lay some rubber down upon grabing second. As I am pulling off to turn, he gives me the thumbs up. A very enthusiastic thumbs up, I think he liked the sound. It sounds like an f1 car. I love it.

Custom Wiring Harnesses
I am glad you are so exited about this zhadman, because after trying to diagnose some of my cars electrical problems I wanted to rip ALL the wires out... I would most definantly buy a wiring harness that was fit for the z. I was knocked on my arse by msa's price for their blade fuse box, that is rediculous. I dont know much about wiring but heres the weather inside my brainstorm. Someone said something about many people wanting different things depending on originality of the car, and other such factors. It seems simple (although probably is not). You can have one fuse block with everything most cars would need, and then just sell the Pieces of the harness. Like everyone would need the engine, and lights, etc. but you could then just sell airconditioning and heating harnesses, that would plug into the rest of the base harness. A separate piece for eletronic ignition.... Anyway like I said I dont know much about wiring, and this is probably just wishful thinking, but maybe it could work? Anyway I am behind you all the way on the harness, I am just glad There may be hope for the birdnest in my car. I also will enjoy tearing that son of a ***** out...

original color
oh ya, Well I just wondered what one would look like. Painting is a long way away too I am sure I will have time to find many other colors.

original color
Thanks for the help guys, I know it aint a pretty color but at least I can say I thought about it now... If I was going closer to a stock restoration I would consider it more, but hopefully this will be pretty far from stock! oh and it is buterscotch interior. I am going to replace most of it with black except the headliner, doors, and few other peices around the hatch. hopefully turn out ot be more of a black and tan...

original color
Hey guys, I was just feeling nastalgic and thinking about the final color of my z. It was originally Brown Metallic 114, which was probably one of the uglier colors, but then I realized I never really saw one. My car was repainted white a decade or so ago. Do you guys know any pics of a Brown Metallic 114 aka cocoa brown z, I think they were only availiable a few months in 72/73. I was digging through gallery, but figured maybe you guys knew of one already... Thanks
