  1. Couldn't agree more. You gotta have a special reason to take a car completely apart, restore everything, and put it all back together. Something that motivates you other than financial gain.
  2. ROFL Why...Princess Ziesta, of course!
  3. I might suggest you sharpen your research so that you understand what you are looking at when you find one. For instance, there is no such (original) color as lime. An early S30 or S30-S came in 907 Racing Green and 919 Sunshine Yellow. Even the later color 112 is considered yellow although many refer to it's greenish hue. A typical 1970ish right-hand drive model could be an S30, an S30-S, or an HS30. All three were fitted with various accutriments (sp) differentiating them from each other. "Original" will depend, basicly, on how much you know about differences of the various models compared your best knowledge of our American HLS30 version. My personal experience with this subject has lead me to wonder how and why the Americans got our version fitted the way it was compared to what was available in other markets, or, model versions.

  5. Yes, but remember that an optional stereo radio and 8-track stereo was available on other models. We only got the AM auto-tune radio. The HLS30U(N,V) speaker part # is 29240-E4125. E4225 is the speaker for the right side.
  6. Yes, Canada comprises various "states". See attached map.

I suspect this makes you the resident "expert" on the land speed record cars, Mike. Very little is ever mentioned about them. Thanks for all the pictures and info. Is the segment on the DVD from an actual run? I would say that the red bottle is a fire extinguishing system.
  8. The typical procedure is to "bid" on a convention two years out with the "bid" accepted at the preceeding convention. Just two years ago, the ZCCA didn't have that luxury but it appears that enthusiasm is growing within the ranks. Phoenix is definitely the current rumor but I'm not sure anything is finalized. Phoenix offers a Nissan test track and Bob Bondurant; two significant reasons to attend. On the downside, I expect everyone will want a convention in the dead of winter after Nashville!
  9. Holy zlady, Datman! ! ! Those are frigg'n awesome.
  10. Yea Will, what are the dates? And for the record, I didn't have anything to do with the Hooter's girls. That was someone else from our team. How about the Falken Tire girls! Woo hoo! Stats coming out this morning about the convention. 722 registered guests. Approx. 400 cars at the show and over 1,000 people. 523 dinners served at the awards banquet. 8 automotive press releases including USA Today and a video from AutoWeek.
  11. Just got home. I think I was last man out of Nashville. What a wild week! Huge crowd, lot of work for everyone. Thanks to everyone for making a rock'n great convention. Your turn, Will. See you in Savannah
  12. The car show is open to the public and free, this year, to "just look at cars" as many, many have asked. Otherwise the ZCCA annual convention is a private convention for registered Z car enthusiasts and Z car club members. Registration is available at the Embassy Suites hotel in Franklin, Tennessee per the times posted on the web site www.zcon2010.com General registration is $85.
  13. On-line registration closed Friday afternoon and our tabulations are in. 564 registered guests, 226 car show entries, 39 autocross entries, and 56 track entries. These are big numbers. Be prepared for some fun!
  14. Oh! Some of the Nissan people have been road testing our touring activities. Seems that the BRE 370Z is back in town. They found a couple of corrections for our maps and driving directions. And two new factory tours were scheduled today. We added two times on Friday - 10 and 1. It is quite possible that everyone signed up will have a chance to go. The factory tour filled up real fast, as you know.
  15. gnosez, I don't think you'll have trouble in our area, Franklin. Downtown Nashville might be a different story. I don't know. We have a shuttle bus running hourly for most of Thursday as part of the Wild Horse Saloon dinner that evening. I'm gonna get my picture took on the stage of the Wild Horse Saloon! WTF? The bus runs from something like noon to midnight. If you do that, you (1) don't have to worry about your car, and (2) you can drink. That's my plan.
  16. Just "confirmed", Randy Rodriguez and Bruce Robinson will be at the convention. They are the gentlemen responsible for the design and delivery of the 370Z. How great will it be to have them with Yoshihiko Matsuo?! The guest list is getting crazy. What a great group of people are coming. Come Saturday, Ron will be seen posing with the "Peter McLaughlin Collection". Look for lots of publicity from all this. You can hear all the excitement when we talk with the Nissan people. They have been great. And many people seem to be kicking in a little extra to make this year a great party. There have been a couple of huge efforts. The Matsuo effort was huge. HLS30-00013 will be seen posing with the "heritage" guys Saturday. Another huge effort. Our thanks to everyone. We have been getting 6 - 8 registrations a day for the last two weeks. We are topping 300 Z cars and around 600 people. On-line registration closes at noon Eastern time tomorrow (friday) and re-opens in Nashville next Wednesday, July 28th, at 1:00 pm.
  17. I believe the correct carpeting would have a edge sewn slit, about 8" long, from the middle of the luggage stop to allow the carpet to fold back when opening the tool door. I don't have this set-up and I can't remember if the later carpeting had slits for the brackets or not.
  18. Thanks Mike and Mike, Which one is dated November? Am I correct; both of the cars / ads are PS30s?
  19. "Next instalment: 'How Mr K. invented the wheel'... ? " For your archives, Alan.....
  20. Very interesting. Shame I can't download the images. They may very well be 1969 / 1970 advertizing images. Alan would know.
  21. The "Z Store" at the convention is where all the merchandise will be sold. Merchandise will be available at the car show at the ZCCA tent and inside the Nissan building. Nissan is producing a number of things for the 40th Anniversary of the Z. I'm not sure what, but it will be official Nissan merchandise. Under the guise of the ZCCA most merchandise will have the emblem of my avitar. T-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, clocks, watches, coasters, lapel pins, embroidered patches, window decals, books, hats, artist prints (Cadematori), posters, and slew of other stuff I can't remember. The goodie bag has some of this stuff included. Oh! Dash plaque. There will be a ton of stuff in the raffles. There is also a silent auction of Katayama signed stuff and collectable stuff. And last but not least, the band is doing a special music album for the convention. National recording artist Beth Garner with the Dirty Curties band including Caitlin Nichol-Thomas, Melinda Curtis, Erin Holiman, and Karen Dee. The band will be providing music at three of our activities throughout the week.
  22. According to my parts book, 17201-E4600 has the nipples for the evap hoses. 17201-E4100 is the early / Canada one without the nipples. 17201-N3400 is the one listed for the L26 engine. Sounds like you have a "rare" piece. NOS? Cool!
  23. Ron, I couldn't be more delighted to see the success you have with all the efforts you went to. I first remember meeting you five years ago at Long Beach and seeing your car "in progress". There are great threads in the archive about your efforts. Incidently, I saw a picture of you at a Willow Springs Vintage event in a vintage racing news letter recently. You were behind a group of Corvettes? Since the convention was mentioned, I want to take a moment to thank Nissan North America, specifically Colin Price, for the support they have given to you and your car. It's going to be great to have you in Nashville.
  24. Just a "heads-up"...on-line pre registration will close at noon eastern time on Friday, July 23rd. This is when the committee must commit to attendance counts for banquet meals and other arrangements. Registration will re-open at the convention in Nashville on the 28th however all events will be considered full and late registrations may not get access to everything, including the goodie bag and the awards dinner. If you are thinking of coming to the convention, it's time to register. Payment can be made via PayPal.
  25. Gary That's a compilation of four different films produced by Nissan. The 240Z Sport and African Safari films are actually abour 20 minutes long. The segment with John Morton is a television advertisement. Chris
