What do I do? Set up a 26th-Z thread on the build topic?

Oh thanks. I have been collecting parts for many, many years anticipating my restorations that I am just now getting to. I was well on my way with 26th when the economy fell apart in 2008 and everything went into storage. Now I'm back on track and spending time organizing my parts stash. 26th is on a rotisserie and I'm expecting her green before the end of the summer. Just now starting to take 27th apart. As I restore components for 26th, I'm pulling parts off 27th to restore at the same time. Just finished two perfect radiators from my collection of three. Will start posting pictures soon.

Hmmm...I'll have to see which one I have. I liked your post on de-mister hatch glass Kats. I thought I had a new piece of vertical de-mister glass too. So I got all my glass pieces out to see if I had the same tags as yours. Such a surprise to what I had in storage. I have a collection of clear glass, four pieces, and two of them are new. Will post pictures.

I cannot see your picture, however the trapezoid shape is correct with the long length to the bottom. The antenna control as Dennis described would be correct for your model year.

I go through it every day, Steve. Both of my 1969 builds are titled as 1970 model years. My sympathies.

In the United States, the hand throttles were supposed to have been removed before the delivery of the car to the purchaser. Blank statement - all cases. NO cars sold in the United States came with hand throttles. Now, having said that, there is some credible evidence that some cars made it through the dealer prep and were delivered with working hand throttles. Hand throttle systems were sold through the parts department and plenty were sold (in both styles). By all evidence, HLS30s were not imported, distributed, and sold in any sort of sequential VIN numbering. Thus, it is in error to say or imply that only the lowest VIN cars escaped the ravages of dealer preparation and came equipped with hand throttles.

The OIL cap, as Jim pointed out, is the correct cap for that valve cover. Both of your's are not correct.

Completely agree. Inspection marks, messages, part ID / process ID, a number of different things. Not, in my estimation, related to chassis VIN. Is it my eyesight, or are the arrowed numbers in Blue's gauge pictures reversed?

I didn't notice the dash cap either! The hood is not the early style, but is this car early enough to have sported one when new? It is late enough to have sound tar on the rear deck. The tail light interior cover has the service panels, actually a very desirable feature IMO. Correct original spare tire. AMCO floor mats.

There are a couple of "experts" in the comment section pointing out incorrectness issues with the car and arguing over their expertness mojo. I'm glad they are not here. Lovely car, very well prepared.

That looks like authentic hyde of Nauga, distressed texture, on concrete. It is used for upholstery and not a proper material for a shop floor!

Yes, I have those pictures of Detroit. Compare the display design with other show photos you have and you will see the common traveling stage set-up and graphics for 1969. That changed for 1970 when Datsun USA won "The most beautiful exhibit" award at the Los Angeles show. It is difficult to see, but the New York show in April had that same 'tea garden' theme. exhibit.

Kats, That photo matches closely with the "Nissan News" photo of the Beverly Hilton event. So it was silver! Also, from Datsun Dealer Bulletin NS-69-008, Dated October 16, 1969, Robert O. I have pictures but I don't own them and I don't have permission to post them. Of course, the pictures are B&W so the color is up to interpretation. The Pierre car is dark and the Beverly Hilton car is light. See if you can find a copy of "Nissan News" from the fall of 1969. It has pictures of the Beverly Hilton car, page 8. Personally, I think the Pierre car is racing green with a tan interior but I'm biased in that direction. Here's a picture of the ballroom at the Pierre to give you an idea of the scale of that event. Evidently, it wasn't just the introduction of the Z. It was a display of the entire Datsun line-up for 1970, and, oh-by-the-way, "we're adding this personal sports car to our product line which will boost sales of all the fine Datsun products and generate increased showroom traffic".
