  2. Testimonial I have been using PB Blaster for years. Great stuff, and easy for me to find at most any parts house. Kroil is just as good, but I have a hard time finding it. I use WD 40 as more of an all purpose lubricating fluid. WD 40 will dry. BTW, WD 40 is great for getting your kid's gum out of your cloth car seats. With regard to the brass hammer comment, breaking the rusted connection is just the begining of the battle. Try breaking the nut or bolt free by torquing it both ways - on and off. Once you seem to get the connection free, work it back and forth with more liberal amounts of PB Blaster or Kroil to lubricate and clean the rest of the threads. You can break a bolt or a stud on the last threads just as easily. The comment about letting the penetrating oil set for a while is appropriate also. Let the penetrating oil do the work and give it time. Thanks for the encouragement! I deal with rusted crap all the time. It builds patience and moral character to become victorious over the situation!

    You know though, Carl, the prices we see advertised by dealers on dealer lots pretty much fall into line. I have seen a couple of LOW early cars sell in Florida recently for about $1500 less than the N.A.D.A. LOW. Actually...scooped up.

    Thanks...quite interesting. It says that the design department was set up from the car modelling division. Perhaps a hold-over from the old technique of designing the chassis independently of the coachwork?
  9. Will, When I get on my rants and raves about how I get a grin out of this site...you just got me! The twins will be 35 next month! Her Majesty is indeed naked, but Princess 27 is still fairly dressed. She isn't going to look too good naked! Poor little crack whore.... Back on topic; I could have sworn the bumper guards looked funny. Then there is the rubber strip between the front bumper and the body. Someone mentioned rubber strips between the guard and the bumper? There was a thread about that recently. I didn't think there was. Geez! I'm having enough trouble with the rubber parts for a '69! Finding all that rubber for a restoration would be a bitch!!!

  13. Awe com'on you guys!!!! You are missing the obvious. "Something odd caught my eye". Its not something you really have to look for. One of the pictures just glares at you. I mean GLARES. It isn't about the year of the car. The speedometer is fine - so are the emblems. DatsunZguy come closest so far....

    I encourage you guys to think about what you are doing. A seat belt is a safety device and is used only to protect your life. Otherwise, it's fairly useless. Now let me ask you. How much is your life worth? You say you have no belts currently? Would you ride a motorcycle without a helmet? I have a nice set of '71 belts I would sell for $150 and I don't think they need to be restored. But what if I sold them to you, you got into a car accident, and the belt tore. Would you sue me? Pulling belts out of a junk yard wreck and using them is idiocy in my opinion. Have your old, unreliable belts restored. http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/ About $125 per side.

  19. Wow, Eric. That's the loaded question of the day!!! Vicky answered so eloquently. Hotter to sit on? Vinyl, hands down. Hotter - heat energy - cabin temperature? Proabably the same. Vinyl does not keep heat energy as long as leather, generally speaking. Personally, if I were not locked into the "all original - low VIN" thing, I would pay the big bucks and have the interior done in leather like it was originally intended and the way cars should be upholstered. Leather - black leather - is a bear to keep from drying out. Leather is serious high maintenance. Vinyl lasts much longer. It is much easier to keep clean. But I'm sure Vicky would agree with me on this. There is nothing as nice as leather.
