31K Miles Series I 240Z Up for Auction on BaT - Over $100k on First Day!
Weird! The high bidder does 1 bid @ $111K and never commented or bid before. Then disappears? Did they know the reserve amount and make a safe bid? I'll be interested to see if this car shows up somewhere else.

Is one carb missing a linkage?
Well no problem. If you have a better idea of what to do go for it. I was just trying help. Those are 20 year old carbs that worked perfectly until I blew out a seal. So I had new seals and bearings put in by the company that sold them to me 20 yrs ago. Came back beautiful and started right up on the first try. All Good here.

Looks like a three screw SU. The one on the left is missing connection for the mechanism. Here are some picture of my 3 screw carbs mounted. Hope it helps. Also the Ztherapy site may help too connects between those two marks

31K Miles Series I 240Z Up for Auction on BaT - Over $100k on First Day!
I know the bidder of the $110k. I didn’t know he was going to bid, but I did point him back here to see what is being said. I think that he did. He purchased a BAT 280 awhile as a driver and is planning to back date the bumpers. He has always wanted a orange 70 to add to a couple Porsches and a Ferrari collection. He is real, not any part of a plan to raise the valve.

'Lstepp4re' seem to be all that constructive. He got it wrong - again - about side stripe kits (he said "aftermarket only") Is Lstepp4re a member of this group? Do any of you know Lstepp4re or their history?Big time collector? Or a flipper?

Intake water bypass question
I have actually accomplished that. It is not fun. Old stiff hoses near impossible to remove and don’t try to reuse them. Get new hoses first.

Intake water bypass question
Maybe I misunderstand what you meant but On my 240 the hoses pass through the firewall and attach to the heater core under the dash one attaches to a valve that can limit the amount of warm water to the core .

Broken Bolt
Do you have room to drill small holes around the extracter enough to get a hold of it and back it out? Photos help

31K Miles Series I 240Z Up for Auction on BaT - Over $100k on First Day!
I too have issues with not just this car, but what I feel is a group of “Big time Collectors” making comments and bids that establish a valve of of their cars. I started wondering about this car when 100k happened. Right away one of them comes to his rescue about how he is a big time collector and a smart investor. REALLY what smart, informed collector throws out that bid on day one.??????? Will that bidder be there at the end or just establishing a value.

KUDOs to Ztherapy
Found some time to work on the rebuild carb install. Awesome working on clean well adjust parts. They send along a nice set of instructions that I actually read and learned something new: before making any adjustments to balance the carbs disconnect the throttle linkage at the center of the balance tube. Then when done work backwards from there to the gas pedal. if it needs to be adjusted it will be obvious. Note line 3: they set float level from the top of the float to the bottom of the cap to .55 in. The rest are a nice reminder of order to balance carbs. last here is a pix of 20 year old technology. gross jets. Still working after 20 years. Had easy time setting up. Balanced at idle (choke and throttle linkage discounted) balanced at 2000 adjusted the valves reset timing to 9 degrees BTDC. Max advance to 36 degrees rechecked balances added 1/2 turn to both mixture screws to improve smooth idle rechecked balances shorten throttle pedal linkage ( checked for WOT ) Best $300 of 2020 money I have spent lately . Hope this help someone who is undecided.

31K Miles Series I 240Z Up for Auction on BaT - Over $100k on First Day!
I wonder if there are cars trading outside of BAT in these price ranges ($100K +) or is it a small group of high end collectors bidding up each other’s cars. Do anyone of you know of recent sales outside of BAT close to these prices?

Ztherapy carbs
That sort of answers the the price point question. They probably could raise the price. When I spoke to Steve recently I surmised that there is a huge delay in the polishing process. Although he didn’t actually state that. He was able to tear down mine and rebuild with new bearings, seals, throttle shafts, nozzles etc in return to me within two weeks. Didn’t have to send out for polishing because of their condition after 20 yrs and 150k + miles. It’s worth the wait. Doubt you much cruising between now and there based on where you live. Enjoy the journey.

Ztherapy carbs
Purchased mine 20 years ago and it was the best thing I have ever done for my car. I personally think the price is a steal.

240z running rough
Using my experience have dropped the tank three times on my 71. Definitely empty the tank you will be surprised what it takes to get it out. Sounds like your was out not long ago so hoses should be easier to get off.

KUDOs to Ztherapy
Received a package today with a couple gems inside. For the last month or so I have been chasing a lean condition just off idle on my 240 motor. Cold it was hard to start even while being choked, a condition I have not experienced since purchasing my Ztherapy carbs in early 2001. Trying all of the normal problem solving I finally did the “starting fluid test” and found that when I it sprayed on the rear side of the back carb the idle was effected. Closer examination I discover the shinny silver cap over the throttle shaft was missing and covering the hole definitely changed the idle. Engine ran good at 2500+ RPM. Steve at ZT called me back and we discussed the issues and he advised me the throttle shaft seal was probably blown out. (A backfire can do that). He offered check the carbs if I would send them to him. That day I UPS them off to him and in less that two weeks I received a package back. My 20 year ZT old carbs look brand new and based on the cost of a ZT rebuild kit the price was a steal. They are one of those companies that you can’t say enough good thing about. THANK YOU STEVE .
