crane xr3000 question
Hi all, my 240z came with a xr3000 ignition setup all ready. I'am curious what the black, red, green and white little wires coming out of the unit are for(on seperate loom)? they arnt the pickup wires or the signal/power.... What are they??? two of them are bridged... I've looked at the xr3000 manual on the crane website, and it didnt mention them at all. any ideas?

carpet kit and new hood lining, anyone tried any?
I'm looking at new carpet for my 240z. And ive seen carpet kits advertised in car magazines (here in australia)and heard good and bad stories about them(mainly about their poor fit), even considering geting a auto trimmer to make it up. Has anyone bought one, if so what brand and was it any good? Also looking at replacing my hood liner, I've done a search here but would like some more details on how to do it. mine is a mess! thanks scott

Got my new 240z!
After having owned a few 260z's and hearing how great 240z are Ive taken the plunge and got me a 240. Its in pretty nice condition- Ive posted a couple of pics(still need to be appoved) and will put post more in the following weeks. Its not exactly stock with upgraded suspension, koni's, hard springs, kmac swaybars, adj camber. and the motor is still the original 2.4 but has a big cam and tripple 45mm webbers . I've only taken it for a couple of short drives but it feels like a million bucks, I cant wait to get it on the road!! Its an ex race car(runs leyburn/gatton/pittsworth) and ive had to change a few bits to get it road worthy again. So ive got a few left over parts if any one wants them- like 4 pt racing harness with mounting plate that bolts on to the rear strut tower. Half roll cage- looks neat but not CAMS appoved. original 240z 5 speed gearbox and balanced tailshaft. Big rear wing--see pics just thought I'd share my JOY!!

Lead footed B's.
I totally agree with what Walking pig has to say... The tomatoes are really really really crap lately I find all this really sad, because it shows the times. I've heard lots a stories from old timers about "maxing out" their falcon gtho's at 160mph-racing against 6 pack chargers or racing their 240z(with tripple webbers in early 70's) thru mountain roads - keeping at 10 tenths for hours on end.(and dat 1600's) ALL THIS ON PUBLIC ROADS And those days are gone.. Now in qld if you get caught doing 45kph over you LOSE your licence for a min 6 months- and unlike drink driving you cant even get a work licence. I'am not saying that the above things are sensible but its something that us younger petrol heads WONT ever be able to do - the phase "lets take her out and see what she'll do" is over. The cops dont even have to bust you - they sit in their van/4wd on the side of the road and let a camera do that(what a job hey). Anyone watched cannonball run recently???

Dellorto Vs Weber
mmmmmmm spaghetti........ Just reliving a old post.. If someone bought webers/dellortos could he/she get the jet/tube etc sizes off someone else who has already got their set dyno tuned??? If the motors where similar- ie similar cam /head etc??? any thoughts?? Dyno tuning can be very expensive, and if everyone posted their tunes on here, perhaps we could make a database on the different states of engine tune VS weber/dellorto tune...

My 240Z Dyno 3-Oct-02
iam curious too. watcha done to that motor?apart from the tripples? is it standard pistons/n42 head nonported? With it peaking at 5200, I guess its got the standard cam, right? if so 141hp is VERY good.. good work

Z Car new year resolutions
I'am hoping to either get my 260z repainted (bare metal) and put my l28-rebuilt with flat top pistons, bigger cam, 2" jag su's or webbers ported head- and redo the interior- put in my tokico shocks with lowered spring etc etc etc or selling it as is and buying a 240z for big bucks that has already had a repaint and is pretty original..(Anyone got one??-email me!) So what does everyone have planned for this year with their z cars?

Is there an E30 head?
I thought i'd revive this old post.. So... the E30 head came out on the early skylines/240ks and also on the 2l jap motors.. the early ones (240k/skyline/ 2.4l) where setup for a single carby and the 2l jap motor was setup up for fuel injection and has its inlet ports drilled for it. Did they both have the same size valves?(the injection head and non-injection)..did they both have the same size combustion chambers? Does anyone know wot size they are, for compression calcs? My 260z has a e30 head on it with injection holes drilled into the ports and was wanting to know if it was a good head.. and what compression ratio ive got(i havnt done compression test yet) thanks

kings springs--anyone used them?
mine mite be sitting a bit higher cos both cars have the spare wheel out/back seat/ most of the interior out and very very little fuel.. it is the measurement from the middle of the hub(in the middle between the nuts) ( ) to the inside edge of the guard above it..(in the rear) wot do you mean by non-trapping???????

kings springs--anyone used them?
Ok..on my two zeds, both of which are 260z 2+2's and both have their front guards off :cross-eye :cross-eye So the REAR measurements are 420mm on no1 and 410mm for no2.. At 350mm it would look SO awesome!! BUT maybe the guards sit higher on the 2+2???
