  1. Some, probably most, of the rebuild guys will not even rebuild them.........
  2. That is the 'fast idle actuator'. It draws vacuum from the F.I.C.D. magnet valve which appears to be missing on your car. Has your AC, or at least parts of the system, been removed? (Thanks to JeffG78 for the pic)
  3. Oh, lighten up! Didn't you see the smiley? Just giving you a hard time......
  4. The 5.0 is nearly a full second quicker in the 1/4 mile than the 370Z Nismo. Don't know how they'd compare on a road course though. I've not run up against a 370Z yet that could out accelerate my 2005 GTO either.
  5. He's been here off and on since 2005. I've read his stuff. He hasn't ever posted anything here that was anything beyond idiotic gibberish/ramblings. He's just an internet troll looking for responses. There is no way I would click on a link that leads to his website.
  6. That would be Eleanor. In fact, the the remake (Nicholas Cage version) all 50 cars on the list to be stolen had a name. I'd link to the list but I'm already off topic enough;) So back on topic. The reason I sold my Datsuns was because they weren't being driven enough and I live where you can drive them year round. I agree with Dave. DRIVE it! I wan't doing that so it was time to go in a different direction. The newer cars are better equipped to sit for long periods. (I do enjoy running mid-12 second 1/4 miles but that's a whole different story).
  7. I would hope that the OP has already found what he was searching for. It's been almost a year and a half.......
  8. Power to weight ratio does pretty much determine performance. The other things you mention? The new Mustang has your car beat in all of them. Cocky is one thing but in this case I'm afraid you will have to face reality.
  9. I hope you're not talking about a 2011 Mustang GT. It would run away and hide from your ZX. It has 412 hp. My 2005 GTO is fairly modded and those new Mustangs still give me a tough time. And the Shelby GY500 will outrun me but with 540 hp, it should. Ford really outdid themselves this time.......
  10. When I was doing a lot of AC work a few years ago and needed that type of hose/ducting, I used to just go the the AC shop in Ontario, CA. He had it in several sizes.
  11. Doesn't really fall under the heading of 'Weird Myths or Facts about a Z car '.........
  12. No, it isn't that on but it does show up on the site you linked as a 'Prince Sprint 1963 model'. Appears to be the same picture in deadflo's post. It's about 19 cars down the page. http://www.earlydatsun.com/prince.html From the Early Datsun website:
  13. BRE also used E88 heads in their race cars. When I was a kid in my early 20s, my brother and I went to the shop in El Segundo a few times. I remember seeing a couple of their race heads. They were things of beauty!!

That's pretty much what the tank is for. It stores vacuum to help keep the vacuum supply constant during the different engine speeds and loads. I'm not sure that the mode door actuator would work properly with constant vacuum since the magnet valve opens and closes based on the selector position.

From what I recall (I've been away from the Datsun AC systems for almost 2 years now) one of the magnet valves is for the FICD and the other is for the mode doors. If you don't plan to have the AC you can bypass the one for the FICD but you'll need the other one for heat, defrost, etc.

  17. Vista and Camarillo are both in Califorina but they're about 150 miles apart.
  18. What he said^^^^^^all of it!
  19. And we are talking about cars here or at least we were, not airplanes or motorcycles.......
  20. Why? Aren't your cars, though very nice, somewhat modified in a few other ways like wheels, 'da twin stax', etc.? Do you really have intentions of someday turning either or both of them back to completely stock?
  21. esmit208, I could be mistaken but I could have sworn that I heard someone say that shop is closed.
  22. It's a 73 with a 280Z engine but has the stock 73 intake setup....
  23. I've never been in favor of crimp joints. I've always used the higher tin content solder for electrical connections and shrink wrapped them. Never had any problems.
  24. I guess you'd be right when you say it would likely never become an issue because I've soldered wires smaller than 8 ga on cars over the last 40+ years witiout any problem.
