I do believe that test is in the 78 280Z FSM

Looks like the egr pipe from the exhaust manifold to the bottom of the egr valve. It is broken. I don't know how well it can be seen in this picture because of the shield but this is how mine looks:

To wm e smith: I'm glad to hear that your car is running well. I only use NGK B6ES-11 spark plugs in my Z and my 810. I've tried others but those work the best. To jackboxxx: A wagon just closed on ebay. I actually see wagons and 4 doors occaisionally but have never see another 2dr on the road. The other two 2drs I am aware of belong to Joe (240ztt) who is a member here and Zcarnut who is a member on HyridZ. Joe bought his on ebay about a year or so ago for a fairly reasonable price and it is comming along well. Zcarnut's 810 is by far the cleanest of the three at this point. (Although I don't really care much for the rear spoiler)

It's located under the dash on the driver's side above and to the left of the clutch pedal but it's only on California cars.

I have one of those. (110V. gassless mig) I've used it for just about everything from welding bed frames to exhaust system repair. I've gotten pretty good with it over the years but I would still leave the heavy welding to a professional. Costs less in the long run if you factor in the cost of owning all the different types of welding equipment.

If I remember correctly, for the U.S. cars, the 75,76 and 77 were external and the 78-up were internal

I am unfamiliar with the workings of the carbureated cars but do the have some type of altitude switch like the efi cars? I remember having that problem with my 78 and adjusting the altitude switch cured it.

We moved here from Fontana after having lived there since 2000. Prior to that we lived in Upland for three years. The 810 is okay for a daily driver which is how I use it but some of the cosmetic parts are really hard to find. I've been looking for a good pair of inner windshield pillar moldings for two years now with no luck. I've only seen about ten or so of them in the junkyards in the 2+ years I've had mine and amongst those only three 2 doors one of which was my parts car which I sold to them.

Like that would be a suprise. Virtually anything that MSA sells can be purchased for less elsewhere.

Ah, back to the original topic. Like mentioned above, check the driveshaft to differential mounting bolts. My car developed this malady a couple of years ago and it turned out to be simply loose bolts.

When I bought my 280 in 1997, it had that same problem. The PO had parked it because he thought it had a major engine problem. It only had 69k mi. when he parked it. I put the rocker back on, did the adjustments on all of them and it's been fine ever since.

Two things: I've seen that type of conversion done here in the states also although I don't know why anyone would want to do that and: why is 'briansponge' asking his question in this thread?

His isn't anything special looking at the photos. Here's a shot of my 64. Michael, that's the truck I spoke of in my earlier post. It's a modern day version of the 'Sunny' and it's still being produced.

Well I've only been a 'San Bernardino-ian' since late May. That post was in August so 280 post in two months!? I guess I have more time on my hands since I'm retired. Anyway, here's a picture of my 810:

Nope, no Sunny pickups in the US. Not officially anyway. A few have snuck in from Central America as Vic and I said. I owned two 521s in the past. Both were 1970. One was nice, Red, L20B 5speed, etc. and the other was a work truck, Brown, though I also put and L20B in it but left the four speed.

That's a "Sunny" pickup. They were based on the LB110 (Datsun 1200) platform. Evidentally there were a lot of them in Central America. One of the guys I know that has one says that he brought it up from Venezuela, I believe. The one I've seen is left hand drive. From what I hear, they are still made and sold to this day in Africa.(!)

Then thechnically speaking, it's really a 2 door sedan.

There's a 1982 280ZX FSM on eBay right now. It's #8009697190 and it's reasonably priced.
