Urgent Need AC Compressor Parts for 79 Fairlady Z (280ZX)
Look up 27630-Q0500 (310) and 27630-M6606 (HLA10) on that site. They're both MJ167 compressors with clutches. They're new and his prices are very resonable. An HLA10 is a late model (78-81) 510.

Urgent Need AC Compressor Parts for 79 Fairlady Z (280ZX)
Check with Norm at OEM Surplus. http://www.oem-surplus.com/nwp/index.htm Last time I checked with them, they had a couple of MJ167 compressors, one for a 310 and one for an HLA10. The main difference between those compressors and yours is how the mounting ears are clocked but you could swap the clutch assembly from either of them on to your compressor.

Datsunland Museum article
I don't know why you would think that. Nissan 'divorced' itself from Datsun long ago. Ever since the 'name change' it seems that Nissan has done everything it could to seperate itslelf from the name Datsun.

2012 West Coast Z Car Nationals
Never did care for much the street in front of the shop as a venue. For the smaller turnouts of the earlier years it was okay but the last one I went had vehicles parked on the back streets and back lots. It seemed to me like the event had outgrown the venue.

Or no speakers. Two of the Datsun pickupus I owned came without a radio from the factory.

You Know You Have An Older Car When ...
Everything on every car is user servicable IMO. It's just that, for the most part, the older cars are easier.

3.7 ratio R180 Differential
The 810 sedans and RWD Maximas all had a 3.70 R180 regardless of transmission.

Can someone id this header?
I've seen many a vehicle that had no other mods besides a header(s). If that is all that one has planned then it's not worth the expense, IMO. That's all I was saying.....but if you already have the, use them. You just won't see much gain until you've done other things.

Finally was able to awake my Z from winter storage
Beautiful! IMO, you and Michael Good have the two sweetest 280Zs on this site. I felt that way even when I had mine.

Hood Vents
Well, you can call that vapor lock if you wish but it really isn't. Different problem than vapor lock when it occurs on an EFI car and it has a different troubleshooting algorhythm.....

Nothing I've ever seen. Looks like a previous owner's 'custom' modification.

Can someone id this header?
Define 'improvement'. I've never been one to put a header(s) on an engine unless I planned to do other modifications. Without other modifications, there's really not much improvement over stock.

I think my fuel pump is defective. :/
Sounds like he got one of those Airtex or Delphi fuel pumps. Never heard anything good about those. The two I helped people put in their cars both failed, the replacements failed and they both ended getting OEM pumps.

converting to power steering
In the case of the S30/S130, not only would have to be an oppposite drive rack mounted upside down but also a mirror image since it would have to also mount on the opposite side of the axle than it was intended. I'm curious to see what zenermax encounters when he attempts this.......

converting to power steering
Considering the differences between the S30 and the S130 steering set ups, one having the rack mounted in front of the axle and the other having it mounted behind the axle, the considerable differences between the linkages, side rods, steering columns, etc., it should be interesting. Much fabrication will be involved. Do keep us posted.
