I am working on my rear end well not mine my 240Z rear end. I am installing Z31 cv's R200 diff that i am changing gear to Low Chequered flag racing billet and axles I rebuilded my 280zx rear brakes (i will post a how to later) not that this is a very dificult task but if it can help someone and i was wondering if anyone have ever installed thes lower control Arms? I was looking at modern motorsport control arm but as Ross (i know the name just because i asked in here if someone used his stuff) is never answering my mail or phone i am looking somewhere else. Did remove my axles following these tips it was a relatively easy job the tricky thing was pushing out the axles but heat is the solution heat the housing and the bearing and axle will come out easy. I know my car is 71 240Z but i never had a problem with stuck or seezed nuts. I did no had any slide Hammer but i did not need to save the existing axles as i am installing Chequered flag Axles and companion flange so i can put Z31 CV joint half shalft so i just punched it out by the end of the axle. Can anyone identify this Disk break Upgrade from my 240Z I did rmove this an clean everything the thing i that both piston seals are not very good anymore and I do not know were they came from there is not much on the part as of brand name or anything If you need more pics i could send pics of the thing dismounted partly and cleaned.

Sorry i dont get it i would never ever do a thing like that. I saw pictures somewhere of a Dodge Z i think it is somewhere on motorsports web page photo`s of this summer show. Was as ugly as thi thing.

I just read those 2 thread now how the hell can we order a part that he claim to have and is not listed on his web site? Rear stub axles ???

Does anyone have ever bought something form modern motorsport ltd. I am in the process of ordering some stuff from there Z31 billet and adjustable rear control arms but i am a bit scared there is no phone number on the web site and i cannot get to speak with someone over there so that is why am i asking are they trustable? Do you realy want the NISSAN Blank or a equivalent will do the job for you? If so there are a few blank's at my local locksmith that i can buy for around 5$ a piece.

Nice Z you found. I would have change the Auto tranny for sure. Who the hell was buying an automatic 240Z?

Thank`s guys actualy i was almost sure because the mustache is in the back of the car compared to the bolts that hold it. And also i figured 3.9 ratio (matematicaly) and i do not think there r180 3.9 ratio. I am good at math but i got the formula on the web and i cannot figure the 366 constant in there. If you have a chance look at the right side bolt just over it the is a tinny hole more like a crack should I weld a plate on the (frame crossmember i dont know how to call it). Jean-P

I need to replace the diff on my 240z i think it was swap by a previous owner. These picture are from my 1971 240z and i figure that the way the mustache bar is mounted my diff is a R200. Anyone can confirm this would be realy appreciated Thank`s Jean-P

Thank-you for you shared experience, I had a 1970 240z in the 80's and never used lead replacement. I had a log conversation with a mecanic that worked on a lot of datsun in his life and he told me i should use some I had my 71 Z for 1 1/2 year now and never used it i think that when they stop seling leaded fuel they did had a bit of something in the unleaded fuel but it me be a false impression. I did put some in with my last tank i dont know if i will continue. Regard's Jean-P

Do you use lead replacement fluid in your early Z ? Do you use Octane booster?

WE bought my wyfe a I128 convertible 2008. It rides Nicely. I personnaly drive a MINI witch are made by BMW but i will never have another MINI not enought choice for maintenance an the nerest dealer canot do the job good in one visit not that there were many visits but all of them where a catastrophy. They heaven deliver me the car with a very noisy sunroof. Bad way to start a relation with a dealer.

I am thinking of getting a pertronix ignition kit at Motorsport. Anyone did install this an can give me it`s comment on the thing. Regard`s Jean-P

Hi guys, This guy here bob@astroexpressparts.com, I did chat with him is can make almost any plastic replica. the thing is you need to have one original. does not need to be perfectly clean but ned to have the right shape. He was in the process of refinning his shop this winter i am not sure he is done with that.

Got the Z out of winter storage on Saturday (2 days ago). Install new leater boots on shifter and hand brake. Today i did put a tune up kit in there. fuel filter, Changed Oil and filter, Point, ignition rotor, plugs and cables, install new airfilter.

datsun parts will sell you a 5 speed rebuilt for 730$ shipping is 250$ They can give you all the ratios there. a 4 speed tranny have a ratio on 4th speed of 1 to 1 same as the fourth speed on a 5 speed. You will hae an overdrive of i think .76 ratio.

Strange things hapen glad your OK. you ran in a loose trayler or may i correct the trailer ran into you. When i bough my Z the very next day that i brouth it home i was going fishing with friend and a truck lost a set of wheel and i slamed it in the face totaled my Pickup, trailer and boat. every one in the truck were not injured. but at the end i would say it did cost 10000$ insurance problem in Canada you cannot insure a boat for a full year there is always a dearmement period for the winter so i was not insured. had to go against the trucking company lots of problems. Evaluation against evaluation etc.. If it would have happend a week before i would not have bougth the Z. I would have waited a bit. Now i got the car but i am waiting a bit to work on it i just did what needed to be done so i can drive it in Canada. when i see a car damaged like this i know you where lucky eaven if you lost your car. Yeah My daily friver is a Mini cooper S 2007 its engine is 170HP and about same as torque. and it weight 2486 pounds. its fun to drive but like my friend Francois says the Z need more driver talent. the Mini has traction crontrol and all that fancy stuff so it is more permissive. Agree with Racer_z the Abarth is going to be Something i think they will be in the showrooms this May in Canada.
