I don't think the original positive battery cable is available any more for a 1970 240, so I have been using a generic cable for many years. I do need to replace it, as the connector has cracked. Any suggestions on a cable and length? The one I have has a big cable going to the starter, with the fusible link coming off the bolt. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Bob

Howdy, My drivers door on my 1970 z is starting to be pain, and it seems to be getting worse ;-) I pull open the handle, and sometimes it opens!!! It always works from the inside. Before I tear off the door panel, thought I would get some ideas from you!!!! Any advice is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Bob

Great job, I had the Clifford System for many years, until the glass packs went. I bought my car in 1979, and purchase the system through Bob Sharp Datsun. I still have the headers on the car, with a Abarth muffler, so you can add that to your list of manufactures that had a system for our cars. I am looking forward to going back to the dual system in the future, but I will wait until the Abarth goes bad. Thanks for the great write up..... Bob

I assume that the expansion tank being discussed in the post above is the fuel expansion tank on the passenger side rear. This is not a coolant expansion tank? I have never seen a coolant expansion tank in a 240z as OEM, is that correct? Does anyone know when the switch was made on the oil pressure gauge from the early 140lbs to the 90? Thanks, Bob

Howdy, Hope you all are having a great weekend! Doing a little work on the z today, and starting thinking of the parts that I have and what I might need. Changing out my old door panels, finally put in my "new" ron's z's clock, which works as good as it looks! Changing out the bushings on the compression rods later today. I starting thinking of evilbaying some of the extra parts I have around that I will never use, and then thought about some things I should start to gather as "spares" I need your advice, I have a series one car, and I have slowly added spares that I thought I would need. The things that I don't have are the steering column upper and lower u-joints and the fuel expansion tank. I was also told that rear brake cylinders are NLA? Not sure if and when any of these parts fail or need to be replaced, but thought I should ask the experts here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bob

Wow, I am really surprised with all the cool stuff available for our cars! Door panels, choke knobs, throttle knobs, rebuilt clocks and I just realized that someone has done Series 1 interior hatch trim!!! So, I must be missing a few things, so I thought I would ask: 1. What about the trim for the console for series 1 cars under the choke/throttle knobs? I know they use to come with console, anyone know of anyone reproducing those? Anyone else need one? 2. Glove box emblem? Have not seen those for awhile! 3. OK< oil pressure sending unit for the 140lbs gauge? 4. I know those ash trays are tough to come by.... is there much demand for those. Someone told me that the '69 cars had a different ash tray than the '71 series 1 cars.... 5. Upper steering shaft with u-joint, I know the lower one is still available. Thanks for all the input!!!! I also purchased a clock from Ron. Not only did the clock arrive in a timely matter, but looks great. He also communicated extremely well. I would recommend him highly. I will admit, that I have not installed the clock yet! So I can't comment on the "keeping time" part, but I have no concerns! Just to lazy to get out in the cold! Thanks Ron for your efforts. Bob

Sounds like it's not worth giving the guy a hard time, he has no idea what that " jap thing" is anyway. Thought it might be something decent for someone for $250! Some out there have no clue????? It looks like a late 71 to me. Needs work!!!!

So, if you can reproduce them, or if the guy that reproduce them before has any left, I would be interested in picking up either a set or just the throttle, what ever is available. Keep us posted and thanks for all your efforts. Bob

Any idea of cost and timing? How long would you need the throttle knob for and what about the choke knob?

Can the knob be reproduced? If so, I would be interested and might be able to come up with a "original" one, I think having the early throttle and choke knobs reproduced would be very cool Bob

OK< So this is a old thread!!! I am in Central OR, just south of Bend, with a series 1 240z. I have had the car for over 30 years, and it likes to go on drives! I just see all these clubs listing all these events in Portland, and none here? There was a club over here at one time, not sure what happened to it. Been thinking of some of the "northwest clubs" as a alternative. Keep us posted on the events scheduled........ I have been running the Euro version of the distributor for over 20 years, and I like it. I also have a standard one that I have swapped out a few times. I a couple of years ago, I added the a new coil and electronic ignition into the Euro distributor. I must say, besides for the quicker starts, not much of a difference with the points were new. I do like the fact that I don't have to change points!!!! I like using original parts, so that's why I went to the Euro version. However, as mentioned above, you can get your standard reworked, I was just too lazy......

The original tubing is nothing special, just the old stuff. Doing it in Stainless would be more dollars I would guess? Bob

and he will reproduce the header if we can get 10-15 people to purchase them. I am sure it won't be inexpensive, but he did say he would do it, IF he had a original to copy. I have the original!!!! There might be others out there too. I can say, his headers still work after 30 years and I have plenty of horsepower. Side note, he did talk about a 280 with redline weber fuel injection that just cleaned up in a race in Europe!!! Datsun still lives......... Enjoy Bob
