  1. Mine sat for 6 years with a half tank of fuel and here's what I found after dropping the tank. I had to walk home a few times before I figured it out.
  2. Or the battery. I cannot believe how the steering wheel looks. You should put a clear fuel filter right out of the tank. Fram G2 worked best for mine. Fantastic find. I'm sorry. I forgot you have awakening the beast thread. You know what to do.
  3. I just noticed it has the shipping hooks attached to the rear bumper mounts. Mine had those too and I thought they were tow hooks but they're not. So if you ever have to pull it backwards don't use those.
  4. $4,106 plus $75 dealer prep for a grand total of $4,181. It doesn't mention the spoilers or the A/C. Maybe another shop did that work? I wonder why for "Model" both say "296"?
  5. Did it run any better before the ZX distributor swap?
  6. The price of mine was $4,151 in 1972, with air installed. My Dad said he bought a brand new Camaro in '72 for $2,800. He looked at a Corvette but said it was $5,000 plus.
  7. Have you adjusted the threaded rod at the top of the pedal? When I bought mine the clutch was worn and I adjusted that to get more pedal. Maybe yours has been done too and now with the new clutch it needs readjusting? I also ran the rod out on the slave cylinder.
  8. That's hillarious Blue! If sarcasm melted snow... ::
  9. Do tell more, please. I've put the larger 280 radiator and a full ZX shroud on mine, but's that's all.
  10. We've got a small herd of unicorns in this thread. I have one on my work table right now being polished.
  11. ZX pistons have a weight code stamped into them, keeping them in order helps internal balance. In my opinion but I'm no "guru".
  12. That's against common business sense. How old is Mr Rebello? Does he have all the money he's worked for? Chunked Hazmatts OE block without making contact. That's nuts.
  13. Congratulations! They're easier than you thought aren't they?
  14. Was the window open?
  15. So I'm going to meet "old blue" too? Can hardly wait. If I can't get my 240 broken in to my liking I'll be in my '77 also.
  16. Fastwoman is right, keep the heat shields in my opinion too. Just a couple of days ago someone said their PCV hose got turned to toast after removing them. Also they keep heat off the plastic reservoirs for your brakes and clutch fluid, can't remember the thread. Maybe it's the "Hot Start Issues, who has them who doesn't". I think it's S30Driver who mentioned it.
  17. Is it the original wheel? Have you taken it off before? "Hope i dont have to take the steering Wheel off after doing the alignment." sounds like you have.
  18. If you have a stock wheel they come off really easy. The horn pad is what is tricky to remove without cracking the plastic on the rear.
  19. Dave Irwin aka "Zs-ondabrain" can help. http://datsun-240z-upgrades.net/ is his website but he stays on here too.
  20. Remove the radiator cap then drive a GTR under it and replace. Your pictures look great to my eyes. I put a header and a 2.5" exhaust, port matched the manifolds when I rebuilt mine. Nothing but louder. I think a good running fuel injection motor is about all it can be. A turbo motor is all I can think of.
  21. The metal side against the head? Thanks, Cliff
  22. I'm with you on that, nothing works as good as OE. I drove 45 minutes one way for a $3 seal for my Camry that my local Toyota dealer was out of stock on and the mechanic needed it ASAP. He did the "full monty" on mine, water pump and oil pump with the new belt. I always thought Porsche had the only motor that came out from the bottom but I was WRONG. He dropped that motor in an hour. I forgot to say he put another motor in, I over revved the 240,000 mile original and busted the engine balancer all to h e l l.
