  1. You can make a ridiculously low ball offer if you can't drive it, like $5,000? That's how a got a super good deal on mine. The motor could be bad, transmission etc.. Make the offer and tell him when he gets it running so you can drive it you may come up to his asking price. Worth a try if you like the car. My guy wouldn't let me leave without making a deal, he was tired of moving it around with a lawnmower and ski rope.
  2. Finally, back home! Here's what I was talking about, if you run into it later on. You see that little "nick" on the top shift rod, that's where mine was hitting the transmission housing or whatever it's called. Here's what I had to do to get it working with the 5 speed. It's been going good for almost a year now.
  3. Yes. The plastic OE ones get worn and looser. Those bronze door pin bushing are much better. I don't even know if the plastic originals are still available?
  4. If we're talking about the same thing, here's what most people use. Thanks to Blue for showing us the part number. Dorman 38374 from any parts store. If I remember right it's the Chrysler bushings that fit.
  5. The shifter that works is the short straight one right? Out of the ZX? I wish I was at home!
  6. I went from a four speed to a five out of a '79 too. Mine wouldn't go into some gears either, the shift rod was hitting the the top edge of the coupler that it sits down in. I put some layout dye around the rod and tried the gears again with the engine off. Then I removed the rod and saw the scratches in the blue dye. Then I ever so sllightly ground into the rod, tried again, rinse repeat kinda deal but I eventually got all the gears. I have some pictures on my laptop I can post in the morning.
  7. Nice to meet you Chip. Wives are a dime a dozen, Zs not so easy to find. Cool pictures.
  8. Would a drone know the capital of Assyria? That's what scares me about drones, there all bidness.
  9. Show up with a camera crew and a piece of paper that says you buy stuff. Works on television.
  10. When you hear that MSA full exhaust it will sound as good as it looks. I enjoy reading successful/happy endings like your's. I'm not a mechanic either but always seem to work through my projects after reading and getting help from this forum. Congratulations! You're happy, dogs are happy and you have a nice car.
  11. A window sill can be replaced, not my doodle. He's so much different personality than Jelly was. Took some getting used to but I love it now, he's a silly goose like me but sober. We're in the bed watching American Dad now, he likes cartoons as much as me but he likes the visual, I like the no anxiety and laughing. "That's all folks" should be the end of the day for everyone not just Porky Pig. Cheers!
  12. Two in the Z, two in the Roadster your bride can drive?
  13. That chew toy in his mouth was almost a foot long two days ago. I sleep with a chastity belt on.
  14. Take them to ZCON in Austin and you'll sale them quickly I think.
  15. Oh yeah, Buddy says hey!
  16. What he said! I'm on my phone and slow typing.
  17. Hey Jai. I have that clutch kit in both my Zs and very satisfied with it's grip and release. It has everything needed, a complete kit 100%. The friction disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bushing. Also an alignment tool which is very helpful when getting it all bolted up. I paid $40 for flywheel resurfacing. Luckily I had the extra money because it wasn't absolutely necessary. Pete can make the call once he sees yours. If you ride the clutch or burn them on hills with red lights he'll see the blueish color tell signs from heat. They need to be a little rough for the friction disc to be able to grab. Burnt flywheels are too slick from what I know and maybe suspect to slipping. I put that clutch on my first rebuild without researching, just the reviews I read on amazon.com. My second rebuild I installed a lightweight quick spin-up aluminum flywheel. I asked the forum's advice and Leon V, an automotive engineer, also recommended that kit. Exedy is an original equipment supplier for a bunch of car makes. I think you'll be very happy with it.
  18. It's hard to tell in your pic. Mine was overhanging where this pencil is pointing in my pic. Check it when you get home.
  19. I would think MSA would for sure have 0 offset on that lug nut pattern wheel exclusively made for our cars. But if you don't like them there's no changing your mind now. I'm the same way, ask any of my exes.
  20. You have probably done this but I can't remember reading where you have or not but an unlit propane torch is is another easy and clean way for finding vacuum leaks. Have you looked above the thermostat housing to see if the valve cover gasket isn't upside down?
  21. Saw this and it sorta looks like yours, rides a little higher in the front too.
  22. Kats that is hilarious, thank you for the chuckle.
